@Pen Island if I rightly remember he mad punk look like a lost little boy in promos. Punk would say something pretty good and the rock would come back a destroy him. The rock had crowd calling him name's. Punk really had no answer to him. Truth is some fan's didn't like the fact the Rock won fued and went on to WM, they wanted punk to do it. Punk wasn't big enough star and look bad against the rock.

Exactly!!! Bro, his entire movelist has this explosiveness with almost mathematical timing that only he's figured out. That's why he looks so flashy, even if it's a Samoan drop or a simple elbow drop. His timing, especially during comebacks, is literally the best.

The Rock is one of the all-time greats because of his charisma. He connected with fans in a way only a few are able to. His quick wit and knack for extremely marketable catchphrases also propelled him to the top faster than anyone could keep up with him. Whenever he was on camera, the audience was practically guaranteed something entertaining. The Rock was also just plain COOL. He had a great look, with his sideburns, eyebrow raising, sunglasses, and $500 shirts, The Rock was just the epitome of cool. He also respected the business of wrestling, which is understandable considering how he was raised in the business to begin with. The Rock is one of the most generous top guys ever, always willing to help make a new star or get someone else over. While he might not have been the most technically proficient wrestler ever, he still knew how to tell a story in a match and keep the crowd engaged. Look no further than his match against Hogan at Wrestlemania X8 for a nearly perfect example of this.

The Rock at his peak could get a great match out of anyone. It’s hard to imagine a singles match featuring Rikishi being the best on a card and yet The Rock made it happen. It’s better to do a couple of things really well than a lot of them badly. (I’ll even defend his Sharpshooter!)

I'd say Jack's missed a pretty major point that many overlook- the time span. Realistically, Rock's entire wrestling career if you were to view it continuously is perhaps what..? 6/7 years? It's actually a *_REALLY_* short career when you compare it to others who come up when "Greatest wrestlers of all time?" questions come up yet the Rock is almost a guarantee to be in the conversation. Everyone else like Austin, Hogan, Flair or Undertaker had *FAR* longer careers. Of those Austin was shortest with 14 years, the rest 30+ years. Despite being in the business (at least) half the time to over 4 times less he's still in the conversation.

One of the great things about The Rock is how giving he is. I've been a wrestling fan for 40 years. I've never seen a performer at that level put over so many competitors at big time matches. He was smart and mature enough to realize that the more guys you have at the top, the more the product remains interesting to fans and the less it gets stale because you have more matches/rivalries to see.

One of the reasons why I respect the rock so much was because he was very selfless and didn’t mind putting people and young talent over. People like HHH, Hulk Hogan, Cena and Shawn Michaels let their ego get the better of them and refused to put people over and ending up ruining many peoples career. But the Rock put over a young Brock Lesnar which helped to establish him as a top star. He didn’t mind giving Kurt Angle his first WWE title victory, even though he was in WWE for a little over a year. Heck he even let the freakin hurricane win their short funny feud they had on raw. I can’t see many other top wrestlers doing that 🤷🏿‍♀️.

The Rock killed careers with his promos, it was like a super hero attack, only other super stars could (barely) survive The Rocks verbal onslaughts. But it was that quality that doesn't have a name, that ability to posses a crowd, to take over and control them like only the greatest of the greats had, Stone cold, Hulk Hogan, Bruno Sanmartino. Sure a 450 canadian destroyer off the top of cage will get a crowd to cheer but the peoples elbow made crowds lose their fucking minds and this is why he's a GOAT.

Promos Charisma Wrestling (he is underrated in my opinion) Attires (people still dress up as him with some of his Attitude Era attires when he would cut a promo) Also, even though this doesn’t count as him as a wrestler his success outside the ring. The biggest actor in the world, SUPERB team behind him (his Instagram has made him millions just based off him marketing on it) and when he is a film it draws big box office because people know “it’s going to be a fun summer blockbuster that I can enjoy and my kids can enjoy”. Rock vs Reigns at WrestleMaina 38 would draw MEGA money if The Rock promoted it on his social media. “Use the promo code ‘ReignsvsRock’ to save 20% off your first order of Teriman”. Plus the story would be just to perfect to not do. WWE seems to be doing stadiums for the Big 4 (according to the Mad Mat podcast Survivor Series will be bigger then SummerSlam) so who knows what they are planning for that show. All I’m saying is if WWE want 100,000 people for WrestleMaina 38 Rock vs Reigns is the match. Although they could do it at Survivor Series because it would be 25 years of The Rock’s debut however I’d rather it be at WrestleMaina 38 in 2022

I think Jack's got his interpretation of why The Rock was chosen as the one to put the nail in the coffin of WCW slightly wrong; I believe it was given to The Rock because he was a homegrown WWE talent. From inception to superstardom, the guy worked only in the WWE and itäs development territories. He was a 100% WWE and Vince Mcmahon creation and went on to become one of the biggest icons the business will ever see all via the backing of the WWE and his own extraordinary talents, of course. But, of the main event talent the fed had at the time, The Rock was had to be the guy to turn the lights out on the invasion given he was WWE through and through and the single most over homegrown talent they ever created.

I respectfully disagree with the promo thing. Aside from his character not needing the serious tone, one of his most underrated mic moments was when he told Cena "I look at you and I see fear... fear that I'm taking everything away". Previously Cena broke his character down as a part timer that only came for a paycheck. Without listing off a bunch of accomplishments, he reminded Cena and everyone watching that he was a man of respect and at any moment he can make things very ugly for anyone. His serious moments (WM19, his first heel promo, some of his stuff with Rikishi) are few and far between, but they gave him enough of that edge to make the rivalries/matches mean that much more.

Back then no body really cares about the indy wrestling scene. To be fair a lot don't now. I would much prefer to have a wrestler like the rock then wrestling style of indy guy's. I really don't like the high flying athletic stuff. Give me good old slams back drops and suplex.

Fuck modern wrestling. For them Bob Holly is probably the best guy in the attitude era lmao cause he has the best work rate. When really, he's boring as fuck and has zero personality... Sounds like every modern wrestler today.
