I watched his interview with Kobe the day it dropped and called friends telling them “this older Kobe” shares so much more and how much I loved it. I think it’s a small part of why it was so shocking and I sat in disbelief when he passed. Cliche but I thought to myself, “but I just saw him.” 😢

Looked at the non flinch video again, there’s an angle from above that shows that Matt actually did fake throw the ball directly at Kobe’s head. Not to the side. The announcers at that moment were also amazed that Kobe didn’t flinch.

Matt wasn’t actually in front of Kobe for that ball fake
@bakerman10 Жыл бұрын
Sure he was. Directly in front of him. I think the point you're trying to make is that the angle most seen via clips shows that the ball was thrust directly in Kobe's face, but it was slightly, just slightly, to the side of his face. In reality, same difference.
@ArmandoKozomara Жыл бұрын
He pretty much was and faked the ball a little right so it was right in front of Kobe's face.
@skrewler Жыл бұрын
This is correct, way back Barnes used to acknowledge that it was just the camera angle. I guess he just now leans into the legend.

Funny how memory changes over time. Top view of same inbound pass shows Barnes was actually several feet away from Kobe when he faked the inbounds pass. Camera angle makes it look like Kobe was directly in front of Barnes. Nevertheless, Barnes sure loves telling this fake story though😂
