This video was recorded with a hidden camera in the historic Salt Lake City Mormon Temple before they made major changes to the ritual on Jan. 1, 2019. This is a typical "prayer circle" that is part of every endowment ceremony that is only performed in Mormon temples. Many Mormons say this ritual is, "sacred, not secret" yet a vast majority of Mormons under the age of 18 know virtually nothing about this ceremony.
Mormon missionaries NEVER tell potential converts about this ceremony and their belief that participation in it is mandatory for their exaltation.
If you're a Mormon kid and have never "received your endowments", you are no doubt clueless about this ceremony. Before you post a comment proclaiming how "fake" this video is, just show the video to your Bishop or Sunday School teacher and ask them, "Is this what adults do in the temple?" and you will see the answer on their face. They will tell you that it is "too sacred to talk about" or "The Spirit™ isn't present in this video like it is in the temple." They may even outright lie to you and deny that this is part of the endowment ceremony.

This really happens, and after going to seminary for four years, institute for two, temple prep classes, etc. I was not prepared for this. My bro-in-law told me about "funny hats, an apron, and robes" just before. Afterwards I told him how I felt about it. I was disgusted. He said, "you get used to it." It was not a 'spiritual' experience. There was no deep symbolism. (I'm pretty fucking smart, and ruled in picking apart symbolic literature.) I felt like such a fool. Thats how the church gets you. I doubt anybody would convert if they knew about all of this. In order to go on a mission, you must go through this 'endowment' ceremony. Joseph Smith stole all this from the Masons.

When I took my bride-to-be through the veil for her first time she had a fake smile on her face in the Celestial Room and I leaned in and whispered to her, "Are you okay?" She whispered back, "I don't ever want to do that again." That was in 1989 when they were still requiring everyone to pantomime slitting their own throats and chanting, "Pay Lay Ale". [Google "Mormon temple penalties" for more information.] It is indeed very weird and nothing you're taught growing up LDS prepares you for it.

I was raised Mormon, but stopped believing when I was 10 years old. I got baptized but that was it. I am glad I never got this far into it cause... yikes. I do remember that people were only allowed in the temple under very specific circumstances though, and nothing was ever mentioned about what went on in the temple, aside from the common knowledge of baptisms and being sealed in marriage at the temple and that doing so was the only way to ensure both spouses would be together after death. The end of this ritual especially definitely brings back memories of prayers heard in church. This is so surreal

Old ex-mormon here, with a question. I was married in the temple in 1984, roughly ten years before my sister. In the mid 90s, around the time of her marriage, I was told the ceremony had changed so much so she wasn't required to make the slashing motions across her throat and abdomen. If this is true, I can only imagine changes made over these past 30 years.

so.. I don't understand why people discriminate against mormons... the things that are done in the temple are sacred just exactly how baptism is sacred in all Christian beliefs. so what makes this any different... there is none... the only thing is you have to take the proper steps to find out for yourself... I've investigated in slot of different religions and this is the only one I found that literally will say read about who they truly are and think what they are teaching and ask God for yourself if what they are saying is true, they don't say believe what they say or you are going to hell, they say find out for yourself if it were true... there is nothing that they do is wrong, it's your choice and no one else's

why brand take off your rose colored glasses, my friend. Mormon leaders STRONGLY discourage members and investigators from reading anything that's NOT "church approved", take www.CESLetter.com for example. It is 100% true and filled with verifiable facts and evidence but if someone were to discuss these facts and evidence in any Mormon congregation (aka Ward) they would be asked to leave and/or be excommunicated. Don't take my word on it, seriously read the contents of "the CES Letter", then bring up your new found knowledge in Gospel Doctrine class this Sunday and see how fast you get shut down. In Mormonism, verifiable facts and evidence equates to "anti-Mormon lies". Nope, they're true. The truth is a lot easier to see when you stop assuming you already have it. www.CESLetter.com

Plus that's one of the reasons so many people are creeped out by them. Everything in society is filmed the good the bad the ugly everything and people live a life of watching film still in Mormonism they refuse to be a part of the film culture and choose to be the watchers. know that, they are watchers. spooky, they will cast shame on the person who filmed this and you're probably going to be cursed because they are like witches with spells and evil spirits. also Mormons don't wear funny hats.

I'm grateful the LDS church follows Christs' counsel to build temples. We read about this commandment in 2 Samuel 7:4-6,4 ¶And it came to pass that night, that the word of the Lord came unto Nathan, saying,5 Go and tell my servant David, Thus saith the Lord, Shalt thou build me an house for me to dwell in?6 Whereas I have not dwelt in any house since the time that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, even to this day, but have walked in a tent and in a tabernacle. As Latter Day Saints we do believe God and Christ dwell in these sacred temples. That is one of the reasons temples are extremely sacred to us. Temples are places of worship where we can draw closer to our Father in heaven and our Savior. This is not the only place in the Bible where the Savior and temples are mentioned. We read of their sacredness and importance in Matthew 21:12-14, 12 ¶And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,13 And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.14 And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them. The Lord instituted temples to heal and comfort the afflicted just as Matthew 21:14 states. As you see, the temple is a safe haven for Latter Day Saints. This is only the beginning to the wonderful blessings that come from the temple. I invite you to learn more about temples at mormon.org.

You won't find a *single* expert on Mesoamerica that claims a belief in the historicity of the Book of Mormon that is respected by his/her peers. You would have an easier time proving that the Apollo moon landings were faked on a sound stage (they weren't) than you would proving the Book of Mormon is true. Anyone seriously investigating Mormonism should begin by reading www.cesletter.com and www.mormonthink.com/.

Please explain newnamenoah what is it that you feel is wrong with the LDS faith then ask yourselfes why do you care to the extent to insult and mock those of other faiths? Even if what you believe to see is not something you understand why so much hate? I know no none of you but most likely I will receive insults from all of you because I'm writin this. Do I not have the freedom of religion? You don't see me here posting things about other religions etc. Honestly I don't have the time. Life is busy as it is. More information aids free agency, not takes it away. When you're forced to make a decision about what or what not to do -- or what or what not to believe -- when information is hidden from you, your free agency is being curtailed. When you have as many facts as possible in hand, and can take them all into account BEFORE deciding what you should think about them, that's when your free agency is at its greatest.

I'm a Mormon and yes I took the temple suicide oaths we were required to take before 1990, and yes the penalties were that we were to commit suicide by impaling ourselves or slashing our throats if we divulged the temple's sacred secrets, etc. But I have a different take on all of this: The temple endowment is eternal and it should not have been changed by our church leaders who were worried about what people thought. You should commit suicide if you reveal the temple's secrets. That's what we committed to do for over a 100 years! It sickens me how Mormons are more afraid of how they look to outsiders than they are of the truth and following their covenants. We see all kinds of nonsense like this to where Mormons make every effort to pretend to be everyday "Christians" when we're not at all.

New Name Noah, there is much for you to learn about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints, it's history, and its teaching origins. First off, many churches have their own set of ritualistic practices, including Catholicism, and Buddhism. To the new trend of Christianity, in general, such rituals, including those practiced in "Mormonism," such rituals seem extreme. But, if you're Catholic, Buddhist, or LDS, it's normal. Secondly, the title, Mormon, is not a self-proclaimed title taken upon its self by the church... it's a nick-name that community members gave to believers since the days of Joseph Smith, because of his introduction of the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon was titled as such because he was one of the last of many, chronologically, to record the history of his people, just before he died from wounds he received from war, witnessing the literal extinction of his tribe, which was over 10's of thousands of people, along the eastern states region of North America. I'm sharing this point as an example of something that people generalize, and give outside perspective about, and only reflect mainstream ideas about. Your videos tend to trend that way. If you want to share opinions and "secrets" about the Buddhist faith, and what it means doctrinally, you need t attend and practice Buddhism. A person faithful to any faith will tell you that you won't be accurate enough about it unless you walk the walk. If you quit, and walk away, then you're no longer walking the walk, are you. Third, what today's newly formed Christian churches don't have, as I may be showing some lack of knowledge here, but, then again, maybe not, is a connection to historical practices, like years before the time of Jesus Christ. If you read the Old Testament, not just choose popular scripture verses to remember, you'll realize that "believers" worshipped, and conducted sacred ordinances in holy temples. Animal sacrifices and burnt offerings were made in those temples, which, also, sheltered the Arc of the Covenant, which Arc only the Levites could touch, transport, and care for. This is not exclusively "Mormon" doctrine, this is knowledge published in text books, and in universities, established as doctrinal, religious practices by believers who lived thousands of years before us. Then, in the time of Christ, temples were still being used for doctrine teaching, and performing prayer, and physical ordinances. They were regarded as a sacred house of God, as so regarded in the New Testament when Christ whipped and chastised the money changers who were using the temple grounds like a flea market for money. Fourth, I'd like to ask you a couple of direct questions. Are "Mormons" the only religious people who worship deity in temples? Are there other religions, in practice today, that employ the use of temples for sacred practices and ordinances? Do you, or can many people, for that matter, explain the reasons why certain practices are held in those temples? Is Christianity the only religion to employ sacred practices within temple buildings, or on sacred properties? Fifth, I'd like to request that you share accurately the what's and why's of LDS worship that happens within "Mormon" temples, as your videos suggestions are inaccurate, misleading, and offensive. I appreciate that the recording, itself, is not made up, or comical. However, I don't appreciate that your intentions or suggestions about it exclude all of the teachings in the church, the LDS church, that lead up to it. Children aren't deemed old enough to understand, much less worship as instruction is given within LDS temples. Are children made Deacons, Bishops, or Pastors in non-LDS churches? No, they're not. Not really. But, that is the level you need to be at as a "Mormon," in order to worship in the temples. I apologize if I'm not totally accurate about other religions, but I'm trying my best to give a comparison, and mature perspective for your, and your viewers understanding of where I'm coming from. Yes, I am LDS. I've tested all of its doctrines. Yes, I treat my friends and coworkers religions with extreme respect, and maturity. I've went to church with them, too. We all talk together, and support each other in our spiritual journeys, which are personal, and at times public. However, we never pick each other apart, or focus on one aspect of each other's religion to see how odd, comical, or ridiculous we want it to sound, no matter what the reason. Please, walk the walk, before pointing fingers at it like you're an expert. As God is my witness, I never, ever, point at other religions like this. Because you share in public what I hold sacred, I am giving you this response. We ALL need to repent... not just the "Mormons."

Being a Mormon brought nothing but pain, guilt, and shame into my life. This is a sick and twisted religion in which they immortalize a pedophile as a righteous man who brought this religion to the world. Joseph Smith had dozens of wives, wives he married after threatening his own wife, Emma, with destruction if she didn't approve. The Book of Mormon, is "the most correct of any book on this Earth, and the keystone of [Mormonism], and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than any other book" according to Joseph Smith and yet they can't even get the basics correct....there were no horses, steel wasn't yet invented, and the Native Americans can be traced genetically to Asia, not the Middle East. You might think these are small mistakes but without these "facts" many stories in that lie of a book fall apart. Most, if not all, of this information can be found on lds.org. Open your eyes and read about the church you think you love so much.
