I know I probably should but I really dont care about LCS viewership so much as the product is enjoyable. And it really was, less teams made it so there was more close competition and less "undeserving" players having spots just to fill rosters, less expectations internationally made it more fun to care about the league itself. The broadcast changes were all really nice for the viewer except for when they had to give room for Val and that storage closet "Cage fight" stuff didnt work very well. I also think finals felt really flat being it was just in the normal studio...especially with the CS major going on at the same time so it was jaring to go back and forth. Overall it was a really fun split and it had me caring about players since there was actually personality shown. Also I think there being less money helps everything... players are there for the game more than the money, everyone is less filtered and it feels more real personality wise, and in general everything felt less corporate espn than it has for a long while.

Fudge in the past 4 splits has gone from Great -> Good -> OK - > Liability. The down turn has been sustained for long enough that its time to cut. Not a C9 fan specifically. I think they were a 10/10 on the Fraud. The expected finish was a convincing first and the reality was a depressing third. Jojo looked better on EG last year with an objectively worse team minus impact. You could have replaced berserkers name tag with any other players in the region and it would’ve looked the same, Vulcan and berserker are clearly not on the same page. Blabber had a distinct lack of blabbering. I can’t think of a single thing in the last 6 games that was a point of redemption and that’s when they should’ve been at their best. Idk if a player change is the solution, a coaching change or a serious internal conflict. Someone has to organize the chaos though and get something moving.

The problem with the LCS viewership is all of these changes needed to happen like 5 years ago lol. They are all great changes but I can't tell you how long me and my friends have complained about how long matches take in between, the bullshit pseudo analysis like its old school ESPN instead of just being fun and having segments which even old ass ESPN started playing into before Riot figured it out. It's just all too late like the viewership isn't going to magically come back. If they made these changes when they should have the LCS broadcast could actually be profitable right now

It was close between LCS teams but at the end of playoffs, only FLY and TL seemed remotely good. That just adds to how bad C9 really was. All they had to do was beat one of these teams. They had plenty of breaks to get better and nothing changed. MAYBE, this korean bootcamp will help them since they still a somewhat new roster (same pieces, but as a whole, first time as 5). But at this point, I've already seen the result of bootcamps , preseason and pre-worlds....and it just never seems to matter. Hopium is pretty much nonexistant as a person, but as a C9 fan, I have to remain somewhat hopeful. Scraping by the LCS just isn't enough anymore. If I can't see any glimmer of hope for international, then I don't know. Actually, I wouldn't even care if they sucked internationally if they played like GAM, who usually has a poor record but at least plays aggressive and uses unique picks.

I have been a major C9 fan since 2015, and I have had big problems with how C9 has been playing since the crab incident in 2018. That was when things started to hit the fan in my view of them. I believe the issues with C9 are varied, and I hope to bring some of those thoughts to the floor. #1 biggest problem that I have with C9 is their inability to keep a true shotcaller. I don't know how many people have listened in on the comms with teams and C9 in particular. Yes, comms are chaotic in team fights, but when it comes to set up and prefight execution, C9 doesn't have that one person to direct them consistently. Sometimes it Blaber, sometimes its Vulcan, sometimes one of the other players steps up for the moment. But there is no one grand strategist in game for them. Blaber is loud in comms, but he doesn't think strategically all the time. No one recalls him when he steps too far forward, which leads to bad fights and incidents like the crab fight. Zven was good at strategy, but the best person that C9 had in the role of shotcaller was Zeyzal. The downside of that is that Zeyzal wasn't the most versatile support in terms of champ viability. #2. Mithy. And by extension, Jack. Jack loves to win, but HATES losing more. That typically falls to the coaching staff. Mithy will not choose anything outside of the meta for team comps, even if it is detrimental to the team. Blaber SHOULD NEVER play support/tank champions. Fudge SHOULD NEVER play Renekton. This year, ADC's SHOULD NEVER pick Nami/Lucian bot. But, because it is meta, Mithy will put Blaber on a supportive tank jungler, he will put Fudge on a champion that has been terrible for him for years just to go down in CS and score, and he will make Berserker and his supp play Lucian and Nami. Time and time again, he slams the same champs in draft, hoping that this time will be different. #3. C9 used to be a fun team to watch because you never knew what they were going to pick and where it was going. The game that made me a fan of C9 was when Jensen, Incarnati0n at the time, picked Veigar out of the blue at MSI in 2015. Then, when Blaber came on the scene, suddenly you had to worry about Kindred. Fudge would pull out Fiora every once in a while. They were fun to watch, and they were having fun playing. Now, the focus is just on winning instead of having fun, and there are studies that show that your mindset when playing a game changes how you play. I noticed 2 years ago at Worlds that champ pools were reducing in size and games were becoming a variation of the same champs over and over again. This really came to a head when I started keeping track of champion pick rates this past year at Worlds 2023. There were 32 champs that got played in more than 10 games. There were 56 champs that got played in 9 or less games, 18 of which were only picked once. Out of 165 available champs at the time, only 19% of those were consistently played. of the 32 champs that got played more than 10 times, only 5 of them were not banned more than 10 times as well. #4. C9 has no true playstyle. Now, I'm not saying they can't. I'm saying they have one, but they don't use it. Blaber, who I think is a great jungler mechanically, is in a role that got nerfed to not be as useful to play through. When jungle is a strong role, there's no other player that I would rather have. But its not a strong role right now. The introduction of Smolder truly cemented the strength of ADC this split, but C9 REFUSED to play through bot. The few games that they did, they smashed. But, with the introduction of Jojo, C9 made it their mission to play through anything but bot. Top was a non factor this split. Jungle was nerfed this split. Mid lane was dominated by control mages this split, making it a less volatile role. That leaves bot lane to be the powerhouse, and C9 did not utilize Berserker to his full potential. They paired him with Vulcan, who is great on his engage supports, and made him play enchanters and roamers, further hamstringing bot lane. This was the time for Berserker to dominate, going up against lesser trained and skilled ADC's. But when you put an amazing ADC up against a lesser ADC, support, and jungler that are all hunting for him and his team gives him no backup, they neutralized him incredibly well. #5. Jojo. I saved this for last, because I don't like to call out individual players as a whole. I think most players have upsides and downsides, but I don't see the upsides in Jojo that aren't caverns if neglected. Jojo is not a good mid laner on his own. He can carry games, but only if he is spoon fed the first 15 minutes of a game, and then its still a toss up if he's going to go nuclear or just hand over a massive shutdown continuously. Jojo picks terrible times to engage, terrible targets, and is extremely predictable in his playstyle. The power of a mid laner is explosive when used correctly and in surprising ways. Neeko is the only champ I can remember him having big plays on this split, and those were not outplays. It was a follow up to a fight or a prefight that he would ult in on and either pick someone off or finish them off, then immediately get blown up because there was no follow up to the engage or everyone else was already dead. This idea of him being extremely predictable was brought to the forefront when Bwipo picked him off of Taliyah ults before he could get to the fight. Bwipo knew exactly where Jojo would uit from and when he was going to. By cutting off one of the two damage sources on C9, the other 4 players were able to dogpile on Berserker and pop him like a balloon. Jojo can go even in lane, but he is inconsequential if he is not massively ahead and he can't get ahead by himself. I don't get the hype.
@ElReyDeNoche

What does Monte even define as mid jungle synergy at this point and time? Razork Humanoid have by far the most kills in 2v2 this year in LEC and it's their best functioning part in FNC, they don't struggle with most mid/jg compositions unlike majority of other LEC mid/jgs. They got fisted by G2 cuz they flipped 3v3 with ult disadvantage lvl 5 around bot vs G2, boo hoo. Reality is this team got retooled with middle pack players like Oscar and Noah. Jun is solid but that's about it. Changing Either mid or jungle would be absolutely stupid as those are their best players. I don’t think that the LCS product being better entices players or non players to watch. I personally think that the game being so toxic makes it hard to get new players, let alone new viewers. I usually watch what I play. And in the rare occasions where I watch gaming content I don’t play, it’s to know if I want to play it or not. Esports is marketing and Riot is failing. New players try LoL and get harassed out of the game on literally their first attempt to play with others. It’s even toxic when you are playing a game against bots. There is toxicity everywhere in LoL. I would bet money that if Riot was to remove what they call communication tools completely, players base would increase as would viewership of eSports.

The reason why nobody really talks about losing the strategic coach before the TL match is because it should have very minimal effects on how the team plays the game. Its why if you take a good team with a shitty draft vs a team with the perfect draft, you can almost guarantee that the shitty draft team will win because they are just the better team. Its how DRX won worlds. The better team that showed up wins. NRG beating G2 is another example. Its not that exciting when we try to think the what if G2 just played better or what if X-team just plays better because it disregards mistakes made in game.

Fudge lost lane slightly to impact and bwipo. Two of the greatest toplaners in western history. Dom is completely over exaggerating his Laning which I get is Dom's job but he's usually correct. Fudge has been shit but so has all of c9, they don't have a clue how to play together or what to play.

Impact I agree but what has Bwipo done after FNC? I don’t remember him winning mvps and I certainly never heard people say he’s one of the greatest tops in the west.

The issue is, even they struggle to think of someone to replace him. You can try licorice, but you don’t know if you have him from last year or him before his power up last year. Other than that you import, which doesn’t fix their issue of not knowing how to work together. They’ll just have even less synergy lol

Why does dom say you get second and third item quicker with shiv first? You shouldn’t need shiv to help cs this is pros we are talking about.
@Raidizzy
@Raidizzy 3 ай бұрын
Shiv clears waves fast while being cheap. The faster you get the item, the faster you catch waves. The faster you catch waves, the faster you can rotate to catch other waves/kill camps. Leading to more gold and faster item spikes, especially because your first item is so cheap.
@skylerallen7256

If you can push waves faster, you can transition to taking camps or get onto turrets faster or setup for fights that get you gold

@@Raidizzy then why don’t they go hurricane? I believe one person did it in pro and everyone blindly does it without asking why they are doing it. Hurricane can do the same thing. we are also talking about jinx. hurricane on jinx is nuts late game Id rather have hurricane over shiv late game 11/10 times.
@Raidizzy
@Raidizzy 3 ай бұрын
@@dm4226 so hurricane is better if the enemy team has a lot of melee that want to run at you. Shiv in certain cases is better mainly because the item right now is overtuned because of its stats and the price point on that patch. Shiv is a better rush because it gives you prio as well as having a decent amount of ad and attack speed. I don't really see why you'd rush hurricane because it doesn't provide any damage that early. More of a teamfight item

Another PS, another Monte perma hate on TL. This just start to become more and more unbearable. At this point it's just better skip him while he talks about TL. Dare I say they miraculously pull out a win against an eastern team in MSI, he would pull out excuses why that team lost instead of praising TL.
