Another brilliant video Danny. I’m sure that I’m not alone when I say that I used to watch a range of different coaches. I only watch one now. As an ex headteacher I had the privilege of observing lots of really talented teachers. I therefore feel qualified to state that your ability to explain and demonstrate the key point in your lesson is exceptional. In such a short space of time, there’s no place in the golf swing for too many thoughts. Knowing where and when to strike the ball, together with the direction of the club face is everything. This video, in conjunction with the one that you posted last week make it so clear. I’ll be making these the focus of my time on the range and on the course. Thanks Danny.

Been hitting golf balls my whole adult life and never gave this concept much thought. It needs to be a teaching point for anyone trying to explain the need to strike the ball first and then bottom out the head of the club and where the shaft should be in relation. Knowing this should be a fundamental element of the swing and then it needs a good instructor to show this concept in action. Nice work Danny explaining a tough concept in the exact way it should be taught.

Dear danny, your summary is something i worked on for a few weeks to figure out. Excellent information. Thanks! One piece that i thinknis important to mention is ball is closer to body in stance as ball is moved toward right foot. A good check for this for irons is to grip then right elbow at watch pocket for distance from ball.

Many thanks for the great tips in this video. I'm a longtime golfer, finally back down to a 10 hcp after a long layoff, but have been struggling with finding a consistent low point. Did just what you advised: moved the ball back an inch or so, closed the club face slightly, and presto, instant improvement in ball contact/compression and trajectory along with a nice baby draw. You're the best Danny Boy!

Once again Danny you articulate the body mechanics and what goes on in the mind. You described me exactly and in your exaggerated practice shot with early cast and weight on back heel are my biggest problems. The results are exactly what you described, thin, very fat, a bullet straight left or the boomer slice. Brilliant coaching Danny

In what way Chris? My perspective of ball position has remained the same since I’ve been an amateur. Anything behind the lead heel is where you position an iron as it’s before the low point. How much depends on club and how low you want the ball to go

This makes so much sense, I've recently come back to the game. I've not been on a course yet, as I've been trying to radial in. What I used to be able to do, with this drill a swing method. Will this also help/improve contact with the ball, as my biggest problem right now. Is being able to hit the sweet spot, centering the ball on the club face

Danny,you have explained the demons I have had for 40 years brilliantly,I could never get an explanation to the arc and ended up like most people trying to hit it straight resulting in my handicap going from 4 to 15. Shots ended up going to the left and eventually scared of hook creeping in Straight to the practice range with the thought of putting the shaft on the bag
@dean3434 Жыл бұрын
I have always thought about this natural arc in the swing and I will admit I also often thought I should start my swing going in a straighter backswing because of the problems I've always had such as the problems you mentioned. Honestly, no one ever talks about this natural arc of the golf swing. Thanks Danny for speaking to this natural part of the golf swing that no one talks about.

Excellent job Danny in describing how an "inverted circle" path and ball position determines ball flight! My swing is on an in to out path and as such I position my ball as you describe in this video. I also strive for a forearm rotation just prior to impact which usually gives me the draw that you refer to in this video! Well Done Danny!

This is brilliant as some have said. Keep the arch (geometry as you said) thought in the mind throughout the setup. This is going to help greatly in setting up for fades and draws as well as straight shots. I have been noticing lately that I have had to open my clubface more at setup to get the shot straighter. Obviously after this video I had the ball too far forward in the stance with a closed clubface. Thanks Danny. Definitely my favorite Coach...

I’m am almost speechless on how well this works for me and has me back to hitting a very slight draw again and more importantly, at the intended target and not slicing or pushing everything to the right with no power or distance. Great video this week Daniel. The way you explain the correct swing motion from first principles and the ensuing ball trajectory are very comprehensive, i.e., simple yet captures only the important parts of the swing theory. Other online instructors tell this same story in different ways but not as comprehensively as you. Probably because you still teach students and are better aware of the pitfalls they may fall into when trying to incorporate your swing suggestions. It must be a challenge with the growing demands of online instruction business, continuing with instructing students in person but suggest you don't stop. Well done.

Now we know why Danny has over 1 million subs. 🤜 He gives a problem that the golfer didn’t know, then he offers a solution to that problem. Then adds the other wrong thinking we all do is try to hit it strt. Especially if we line up in the middle of the tee box. Now we just made the fairway half as big vs if we can work it.

Not going to read all the comment to see if anyone else mentions this, but I've been taught to keep the ball placement slightly forward of middle stance for iron except wedges for most full stock swings, especially fairway woods. Before I took lesson I was putting the ball either in the middle for most irons except 3 or 4 irons, and just before for shorter iron and in middle for fairway woods. Coaches told me wrong. I should move the ball forward and my low point of my swing arc should be just in front of the ball even with the ball slightly forward. I've heard some say it wasn't as important where the ball was as long as it was close to center and you hit ball 1st then divot, except driver, obviously, to hit up on a teed up ball. So many different teachings confuse the amateurs. I have been placing the ball for 8 iron and longer slightly forward nowadays and either middle or slightly back for 9 and wedges because of lessons taught. But I find myself pulling and hooks. Hands/shaft forward is easier with ball centered or behind to me, but I keep listening to coaches from the past. Ready to abandon that idea and go back to ball mostly in center again except for driver and long irons if I use a tee for the 3, or 4 on par 3's. I'm older now, but I was doing just fine killing my 9 iron 150 with ball in back slight playing a high draw., not a stinger type low draw shot. May not have been the right way like a pro would, but it worked and that was back in early 90's before all these improved clubs came out. Any thoughts??
