History Channel didn't want to pick this up because the word "drunk" was in the title. This is a channel that prominently features a show which claims that space aliens influenced every major and creative step for humanity as well as having tons of programing which has nothing to do with history. Drunk History and Hot Takes are truthfully the one "interviews" i can watch. Derek Waters and Sean Evans seem like the most down to earth people ever. They make the atmosphere so comfortable for the other person. It makes watching it so much easier and my interesting to watch. The actors always feel more themselves during these.

My favorite history teacher was in 8th grade. Mr. Johnson was in the army and could really draw you into the material he was teaching with stories about it which usually involved him turning the classroom lights off and not sugar coating anything he talked about good or bad. Something about the way he did it really connected with me.

Drunk History is such a gem. I remember watching the first episode for the first time on CC and laughing at every single moment of the show. I thought it was such a genius idea. I would occasionally look up a person after watching the show. While it may have been accurate, on a few of them I was shocked to see some VERY important details left out. I know they can't include everything, but how they portrayed that person ended up being vastly different compared to the real story.

I had a drunk English lit teacher. I loved that class. He said I could get extra credit for my bong water pancakes poem by making a collage and film it to music and after I did that he suggested that I could earn more extra credit by making them in the home ec room. My lab partner actually brought bong water to school to do it but I told her that he was drunk and might be okay with it but the home home ec teacher wasn't.

You can buy the series on DVD, so if you ever want to give it a shot, that's a good way to do it. I highly recommend it; not only did I learn things my high school history class never taught me, but it was also funny as hell. Every actor they ever had gave great performances, and it always looked like everybody was having a lot of fun.

Then I watched the Florence Nightingale skit and got a philosophical paper on how history is the backbone of fiction and that fiction are more vivid depictions of history... So... I'm here now...

BTW, a little historical lesson for the channel: "5 or 6 sheets to the wind" is a terrible hyperbole. "3 sheets to the wind" is the expression which was exaggerated for effect, but what "3 sheets to the wind" means is that all the sails on a ship are loose, and are merely blowing in the wind, not moving the ship and the ship is out of control.

Honestly, I’m not too upset about Drunk History being cancelled. They had one episode that was super incorrect, so every time I’d watch it after that, I’d wonder how correct it was. Still, it was really funny at times, and I think an actual television channel would’ve done more background research to make sure everything was right, so I do wish it had been picked up by a television network.

There was a guy who used to do something similar 25 years ago in Norfolk. He called it "The Drunk Talk Show" and he would interview, yeah, drunk people about their night, what they drank, what they thought about current events. He would kick you off the show if you weren't drunk enough. He was in a band -- Buttsteak, I think.

My daughter wasn't interested in history until she watched this show. It allows us to see historical figures as real people that aren't perfect. Alot of history tells us what they want us to know and leaves out the fun stuff.

I got permission to use it at an alternative high school. The class thought history was boring. They all understood drunk. There is no pride in teaching. If it works and the principal is down, it's in. It worked.

I've never seen the show but do have a drunk history tale to tell. Sir John A. MacDonald, the Prime Minister of Canada and known notorious drinker, was to give a speech in Parliament to secure further funding for the Canadian Pacific Railway. An aide of MacDonald, asked if the Prime Minister wanted a glass of Scotch at his desk to drink while giving the speech. "No." said MacDonald, "Gin. At least make it look like water".

I love history and it was one of my favorite shows. I even learned some things and would do research after watching the shows. One of the greatest TV creations ever!

Thank you for explaining how they got so drunk but knew so much information. I’d been wondering about that for years! Were they just that into history or did they have something to study before taping… now I know. Lol

After 6 seasons, I like the idea of talking about favorite/most impactful teachers. I am curious to see if we could have experts of certain historical points drunkenly narrate their stories or professors and college students do this.

I was totally floored when I saw, for the first time, the actors lip-syncing the narration. ("Wait... what?... did they actually do that?) My favorite line of all time: "Give me liberty, and I fell out of my chair."
