I liked Camille’s white pants suit. It looked particularly effective when she stood at the judge’s desk alongside Elaine who was in black. It not only looked dynamic against the stuffy skirt and top worn by Elaine, but there was also strong symbolism of “good guys wear white, baddies wear black”.
@be.A.b2 жыл бұрын
Camille was able to pull of that all white look great because she has a sweet and sincere look and personality. On the wrong person, an all white suit would read more flamboyant, attention-garbing, or even tacky. When Amber wore her all cream looks.. she reads more as a winy rich lady who can afford to wear such an unpractical color tbh

When someone is having a time on the stand, crying and very emotional, the judge usually asks if the witness needs a moment to compose themselves. What message do you think these whimsical styles convey, if any?

As a hairstylist, did you find that her hair style on the 1st day on stand was representative of being pulled by the hair/assaulted, calling out to the juror's imagination? 🤔

I’m not a hairstylist by any definition. I can barely style my own hair. I definitely noticed that she’s getting her hair done for court every day. I have found it a bit distracting. Also, I’ve wondered about her styling (hair, clothes and makeup) choices, especially in the beginning. She looked like a dominatrix or some sort of Cold War era movie Eastern Bloc military sadist. Once people started noticing, she relaxed it to look like a sweet, innocent girl victim. Now that she’s taken the stand she’s been doing the matronly look with her clothes and yes, her hair has a hint of “it’s been pulled.” I think she had the one side up in Bobby pins so the jury could be sure to see her (weird) “emotions” as she told her story.

Well put together, definitely tailored and not inexpensive - but NOT new. You can even tell he got some of them when he was a few pounds lighter, because they aren't fitting so well. Everything about JD in the courtroom is normal and relatable. Very little about AH is. I almost died laughing when I saw she put a chain on her glasses. It was completely opposite of her personal style at the time...low cut tops, short skirts, party girl. It sure worked in her case.

🔵🍴 I was taken aback as to how drastic the change was in AH’s wardrobe, hair & makeup was once she got on the stand. It really felt strange how suddenly she had a no makeup look* & her clothes were large on her & dowdy - her blouse on the last day tied sloppily with an unstructured cardigan thrown on top. Alyte, you made me realize that it felt so disingenuous! There it was, before she even spoke, the first of her many lies! TY for the fascinating food for thought! Rest up this weekend please. Hmmm some mention that the jury is rumored to be mostly men, possibly older. In that case this dowdy style and soft cardigans play to the damsel in distress stereotypes she’s obviously trying to invoke. I wear a lot of different styles- I kinda “code switch” my wardrobe and this is something I’ve noticed about how older men treat me differently based on my clothes and makeup.

Hope it happens in the cross examination!

I haven’t considered Heard’s hair much at all. I do however think they’re misguiding her with monochrome only attire. But, maybe that’s just her own preference which is fine, not judging the style itself just that I think a soft blush or tan - being spring, being youthful as she still is, would be a nice alternative and wouldn’t hurt in any way, where a lot of the wardrobe she has chosen feels menacingly dark, (I think they’re aiming for formal and resolute but it’s all severe as Dark Leaia or that Cruella Poppins outfit, imho). Lol Thank you whoever stepped in to help Depp after week one. I can’t fault any of his team for their choices… Elaine, much as we tease, has actually been brave with her clothing, even choosing refreshingly light tones, and fault her for her pita client, sure, but not her passion to defend or versatility in wardrobe! Lol the gentlemen lawyers are all dressed handsomely, and Camille could probably get away with wearing a paper bag as my nana would say, she’s a lovely woman with a knack for getting everything just right. Again… just my musings. Loved the explanation of courtroom attire etiquette! Thank you, @LegalBytes! 💙

I wondered how the jury ended up with so few women. Initially I had thought that Amber's team would make an effort to get more women on the jury. However, now that I know that makeup plays such a huge role for her believability and is such a weak point in her story, I can see how Amber's legal team may have intentionally sought a male jury, because men are less likely to pick up on these things and won't introduce their own experience into the discussions in the jury room.
@LethalShadow2 жыл бұрын
Many of the lawyers that appeared on LegalBytes have also said that women tend to judge other women more harshly. If you also take into account the feeling Rick Hoeg has expressed several times, about how it feels icky as a man to disbelieve a woman making those claims, it makes perfect sense for Amber's counsel to try and have as many men as possible on the jury.
@ophilianecr2 жыл бұрын
I would also like to make the point that it's less likely for a straight male to follow the goings on in Hollywood and the celebrity world. They're less likely to pick up a magazine, tabloid paper or participate in keeping up with celebrity gossip. By pure requirements for the jury to know as little as possible about this highly publicized case (that's been going on for years); it's much more likely that straight men will be the most unaware of the details. I think the lack of knowledge in makeup application just happened to be a bonus for her team as a result.

Neither the plaintiff nor the defendant has any input on who is in the Jury, in fact the Jury is a selection of people chosen completely at random from the list of registered voters. I think the judge can refuse to have someone be a member of the jury if it is obvious that they're going to show biased towards one side.

@@pfeilspitze I do like how you told me to look it up and then went to repeat basically what I said just in a shorter way... Neither side can choose who is in the jury (especially based on gender) because the candidates are chosen randomly and people are removed by the Judge if they show any obvious signs of inability to remain impartial. Bonus fact for people, the jury in this case was always majority male. 11 people showed up for jury duty, 7 males, 4 females. (6 males and 3 females remained due to 2 people not being able to remain impartial).

Part of me also feels that with Johnny's look they tried to maintain this image of a clean dude (off drugs and stuff) but also the eccentric suits and rings as a way to play into peoples' association of him as an actor in a lot of their favorite movies since most of them are more "eccentric". The clean look portrays a man that no longer does drugs. The eccentric additions portray a man that we have all grown up watching. The two combined to show a new and improved Johnny that is still familiar to us in the ways we love. I could just be overanalyzing, but idk its cool to think about.

For one, he has such a good-looking, expressive face, especially his eyes and brows, and I think it made him appear way more serious and able to convey his being a victim of DV. Additionally, I think it makes his defamation suit more realistic. I think it is creepy how Amicaface mimics his clothing in court, and I guess that the Cameleon thing is kind of a personality (disordered) sort of trait. Although I understand and agree it's not necessarily the best look I think it's possible that at the start of the trial he could have been wearing his hair down/around his face to shield and protect himself subconsciously. I had long shaggy hair for many years and I remember for the first time (in a very long time) that I either cut it short or wore it back/out of my face, feeling very uncomfortable and very vulnerable. I may just be projecting, but I wouldn't be surprised if that was the subconscious motivation for wearing it the way he did at the start. Also on the point of what I would refer to as: "reduction", I feel as though Johnny reduces himself through tone, dress, emotion, etc.. in a sincere effort to preserve or protect himself due to his natural shyness/quietness and his past experiences as the abused, while she instead disingenuously feigns as such because she wants to make herself _appear_ as though she isn't the self-centered and abusive manipulator that she is.

I remember in about 2015/16 when I was called to Jury duty, I was selected to be part of an embezzlement case. I distinctly remember the first day the defendant was done up really professionally, they wore a really nice dress, hair was all done up, it looked pretty serious (the plaintiff was the US GOV so they were always in suits). However the second day through the rest of the trial, they wore grubby sweats, hair was pinned up like they just rolled out of bed, just overall looked disheveled. That was also the day that the defense argued that their client could not have taken the money since it was clear they were not living as lavish as the prosecution team claimed. Unfortunately they were defending a client whom emailed their boss admitting to the embezzlement unintentionally and even used the word embezzlement in said email (which was evidence used the first day), so as a juror it looked to me like they had given up more than it was them trying to look poor.

Accompanying my partner for years with his bitter ex fighting custody one of my favourite games was looking at all the outfits people put together. Hilarious seeing the younger ones looking like they were going to the disco. My favourite outfit that the ex wore was a conservative black dress topped off with purple, velveteen high heel pumps. As she had wide feet they were huge. I was surprised JD didn't get his hair cut. I'm guessing he wanted to hide behind it day one. Moving to the pony tail was a good idea. The bee is from Dior and I think it was a signal to Amber that they still support him. Apparently she scoffed at him when he became a spokesperson for their cologne. The suits are Tom Ford which are not expensive for an a-lister. The style seems a bit more roomy, which is good for a man that will be sitting down. I picked up on the third reich vibes and am guessing her attorneys really spoke to her because that's when the pale yellow and cream outfits appeared. Apparently, juries like it when a woman wear this colour. I think she would have been smarter if she presented herself as pretty as possible, well made up but wearing delicate, dainty clothes to look fragile. It would not surprise me if she actually tried to make herself look like she'd been tired and crying with make up because many witnesses have spoken about her beauty and how she looks great without makeup. I would love to know if the choice of Dr Curry was not just because of her badass professionality but also because she's a stone, cold fox. With Amber's mental condition, that would really get to her.
