I maxed in November and I will echo how Chris feels. I feel like a noob who hasn't done anything. Only now can I focus on doing ToA or getting the items I want, without feeling bad for not grinding xp while doing so. I have slowly limped my way to 99 slayer, only for it to liberate me and turn the skill into "do the tasks you want", and in a couple months later I've got 9m more slayer xp because ignoring it makes the skill more fun.

See I've done my fire cape with a yew shortbow and snakeskin on my ultimate ironman. I have zero desire to grind to max on my main, and thoroughly enjoy playing UIM more than any other account type because it forces you to progress your account in ways that are more meaningful than grinding levels via doing quests or getting drops. I'd much rather spend my time getting unique boss drops as early as possible then grinding xp, but on a main, or even just regular ironman, the temptation to stockpile gold through skilling is too much to turn down, leading to burning out on smithing or fletching or whatever and just buying skills.

I almost wish I was that way. I’m the type that only does bossing and hates skilling/questing.. I was soloing gwars and other bosses for a while before I even got barrows gloves lol. Now I’m maxed combat but I still have skills in the 60 ish range, I’m missing a lot of the grandmaster quests, but have made a couple billion from bossing, I try to make myself go do the other stuff but it just feels like chores now

@@user-sl1co7hb1l i've been maxed for 6 years on my main, got all achievements and did all the combat achievements i'm able to do ( i'm not good enough for grandmasters) and all i do is pet hunting XD unfortunately for me the game has decided to fuck me all the way by forcing me to get 29m rc exp when i finally got the rift guardian pet. now currently i'm at 12000 penguin agility course lapse post 99 agility and i still dont have the giant squirrel pet... depressing ngl

As someone who's been maxed since 2022, I enjoyed the game a lot more once I maxed. It's hard to explain, but it made me feel a lot more relaxed once I was done with the grind; I was a lot less obsessed with efficiency and xp gain, and that in turn let me play a lot more casually. Nowadays, I only really log in to do new Quests or try new bosses, and I've been having a blast.

In my experience, when I hit base 70 combats a switch flipped in my brain and I wanted to get good at pvm, learn raids, etc. i then spent many nights with clanmates doing bandos as a group and that was some of the most fun I had chilling on Discord looking forward to that occasional 5 man tasset split lol. No fire cape, still wearing dragon armor, a loaned abyssal whip. It wasn't necessarily about the money but the good times with friends. Ill never forget that

I was the same way. Maxing was never really my goal because of the huge time sink required. Even now, a 99 is so daunting... So I do what I have fun with! I've been raiding and trying as many bosses as I can, and loving it. I was trapped at Corrupted Gauntlet for a while... but realized I wasn't having fun, so just sold my bank for a Bowfa to started rebuilding instead. Best decision ever. I was definitely about to get burnt out being trapped there for so long...

Started Runescape at the age of 12, 20 years ago. I took many breaks but just 2 weeks ago I started a new Ironman account, its such a rewarding way to play. Got bored of my main (questcape, 2000+ total, maxed cb etc.).

Have maxed a couple various pures/skillers over the decades, but am about to max my first ever ironman to full max at around the 18 month mark. Despite this, leaving max island is going to be like leaving tutorial island in how little progress the account has from an 'end game' perspective. The hardcore has under 2B bank, under 300M gear, and doesn't have some basic tools like quest/diary cape, quiver, and inferno. The account's full best in slot could be obtained in about 3 months if just doing combat and no skilling. It only has half the collection log completed, which is somehow top 25 HCIM for clogging, which goes to show just how much game there is that it is barely half done by maxing. Would say the biggest freedom after maxing is having resource stacks that can last for 1,000s of hours of PvM. Have never once ran out of runes, food, or potions. Most bosses spit out more resources than they consume as well if good at them, and nearly every boss in the game is resource neutral/profit if doing a farm run every time it is available while killing the boss, not counting HCIMs needing to use Angler Fish for most of those harder bosses.

When i got back into OSRS (because of settleds Tileman and FlippingOSRS's Trader Steve) I decided i was going to play it the way i always wanted to as a child: F2P my way to a bond, then sustain members via bonds. It was a decently long start, and a lot of time has been spent making money (13mil aint as easy as 6 mil used to be) but i set this goal for myself and im having a blast the whole time. Im seeing areas ive never been to, doing activities i only heard about. OSRS is a blast and I know this Main I made will likely take years to max but im gonna have fun the whole way.

Man, its so true. Nobody ever quits runescape. Im only 21y old and my account dates back 15years ago a few days ago. (Rs3) i moved to osrs a few years ago and quit for several years to come back to a banned account (someone somehow logged into it and botted?) so i started a new one, did all f2p quests. Quit for half a year again. To now playing it again constantly. I got into it from my older brother playing. Who also doesnt play it for years and then comes back to it playing for a few weeks/months over a span of 15 years time. With all the instant dopamine games today and microtransactions (rs3). Old school runescape is the most raw game out there. And i freaking love it for that

As a Kid my highest level of achievement in this game was probably like adamant gloves, I come back and now I’m farming vorkath for money to start buying gear upgrades hahah I’d been reliant from lvl 10 thru now on farm runs to fund my account - I’m 4 quests away from the cape and have completed all of the hard diaries young me couldn’t imagine. It feels like right now is the first time I’ve ever actually played RuneScape. Nowhere near maxed (base 70’s except rc)but it feels nice to finally be comfortably in the late game 115 kc got both visages already so it sucks I won’t see them again for another 5 k kills but at least the money is great even with the high materials cost

I maxed in rs3 and came to oldschool as a vet and am approaching the quest cape currently. Just finished ds2 at 89cb. Only thing that gets me is i wish theyd utilize the areas they have ingame rather than creating new areas

No not because of bonds, it’s simply because 6000 hours is 750 8 hour working days and time is one of the most valuable resources people have. Making RuneScape a stream of income for myself by making content about it makes that a much easier trade off to make when I have other responsibilities that are demanding of that time.
