Yep, another preseason battle! Of course, we would all like to have our QB of the future identified and ready to go on Day 1. But we're gonna bring in a stud, we owe it to Darnold to give him a shot based on last year and with new coaching, and, yes, we've got to find out what we have in Matt Corral. You NEVER know...until you know. Look at SF going three deep into the QB room this year with each one seeming to be better than the last. And Purdy the absolute last man drafted. The "experts" are just not that able to say how a QB will perform in this league until he gets a good shot and time to develop. So let the chaotic, pre-season QB battle begin anew! And let's remember that we will need a backup, maybe two.

Great (first glimpse) interview! One thing about losing Wilks is that I hate to lose a character guy who I thought would continue to recover the traditional culture of the Panthers. Here we clearly have another character guy who will bring culture for the long haul. And he is, obviously, offensive-minded, something the owner and most of the fans clearly wanted however sentimental we were about WIlks. Not just offensive-minded but clearly, clearly skilled and respected in the league as a guy who knows how to develop an offense especially with the QB. Great day for Panthers!

Frank was a good coach in Indy. He had a really good defense and o-line but what got him screwed over was literally the QB situation. I see a kinda similar situation in Carolina LOL. Wouldn't be surprised if hegot Jimmy G and then let him go a year later only to get another Veteran QB. I dont think this upcoming draft has a franchise leading QB. I could be wrong though. Frank is a really good coach though and Im happy he got another shot. Watchin the Hard Knocks on Indy was good

I did want wilks but with all the ties Reich has to Charlotte and its cool to know he Was Carolina's FIRST Quarterback In 95 When We Became A Franchise! HE Threw The First TD For Us... As A Coach He Does Have Credentials, Did Well With Wentz In Philly And Did Well With Rivers In Indianapolis But He Admitted He Thought He'd Revive Wentz He Couldn't.. But Neither Could Rivera In Washington.. Matty Ice Wasn't Cutting It And The Youngbuck Wasn't... We Are Most Likely Drafting A Quarterback And Soo Yes We're Going For Someone That's Good With A Quarterback And We Could Have An Ariel Attack... Philly Won The Superbowl With Reich As OC With Foles Airing It Out... I Would've Loved To Have Wilks But I Get The Hire... As much as I would have loved Wilks to get the job permanently our major issue is at QB. We need an offensive coach with experience in developing a young qb. Not only does Reich have a great track record but he was an NFL qb himself. We love Wilks. We have nothing but respect for Wilks. We wish nothing but the best for Steve Wilks. But we needed an offensive coach to develop whoever we draft. And yes. We need to consider trading up to 5 or 6 to ensure we get one of the top 3 qb prospects. We need to build around a qb on a rookie deal so we can afford to surround them with talent. Not be drowning in the contract of an expensive veteran qb.

Reich got hosed at Indy. First Luck abruptly retires in the preseason so he has to scramble to replace him and Reich still managed to get a decent year out of Brissett despite all the chaos. And then because Irsay and Ballard want to win now they chase veteran QBs and even with all the dysfunction Reich still manages to do well with those QBs. I'm not saying Reich is blameless (he deserves flak for Carson Wentz) but he's the least culpable.

Nah because this was a horrible hire. Steve Wilks took over when we were 1-4 and projected to have the number 1 pick . Along with CMC getting traded and a sub par qb room he managed to have us within 1 game of the playoffs, no other coach is doing that period. I’m tired of hearing “oh we wanted an offensive coach” when the guy we hired had his team dead last in the nfl.

Wilks was a great leader and whipped the team back into shape after the dumpster fire of the Rhule era. He is, however, a run-the-ball first and play good defense type of coach. This isn't a problem if the team has consistent success with that formula, but as we know, the Panthers have not. I really hoped that they would find a way to keep Wilks and bring in a rookie QB in the draft to learn under the tutelage of Darnold or possible another veteran that would be brought in, but that was not to be. Coral is not a good bet right now, that injury he had is the same one that was the final nail for Cam Newton (at least in Carolina). Reich is the offensive-minded experienced coach with ties to the area that Tepper needed if he wasn't going to hire Wilks. As to all the talk about race, I will say what I always say and that is the bigger cultural problem is that the environment is such that anytime a person of color doesn't win or get something that race is always the first thing people blame. Regardless of who was the better candidate, there will always be negative Nancys on the both sides (with the other side crying about the phantom "woke crowd" being given into if Wilks had won the job).
