I think rather than doing a spring bulb “live” tour you could film each of the areas as they are in full bloom and put all the clips together into one video maybe set to some beautiful relaxing music. I think that would be so beautiful and we would get to see all the bulbs you planted in the fall in full bloom in the spring. 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷

Just idea for your spring bulbs. Why don’t you film the bulbs at their peak and then at the end of the season put together a compilation video. It wouldn’t be a tour but we could see each variety at its best. Love your videos and and all the inspiration. Five years ago I had never planted anything. I know you love to show us things when they look perfect, but sometimes it’s more helpful to see the reality. Bulb displays are SO hard to pull off. And sometimes things die. Hearing that something didn’t work out for you is comforting to us. What happened with the broadcast spreading of poppy seeds at your Mom’s? If it didn’t work, that’s useful information. I spread poopy seeds like Laura too! I just went to the garden center and saw poppy plants and now realize that I've been pulling all of the sprouts, thinking they were weeds! The poppy plants have these variegated edged leaves with little spiny things on them that look just like weeds to me! Ugh! I think I've only pulled about eight of them though and I think I spread like 300 seeds... so maybe I will get more? 🤣

I really wish you would’ve shown the spring bulbs around the shed. Even if it doesn’t look the way you wanted it to. Especially because it didn’t turn out the way you wanted it to quite yet, it’s all a process, right? It is helpful and real. Plus, we were all so invested in all the bulbs you planted. It would’ve been nice to see what happened. We all learn from you. Also, I seriously felt like a total geek- clapping when you hinted towards you actually getting a small part of a “terraced” garden area that you want so much. Sweet. 😊♥️

I so agree with you. We all struggle with our visions not quite getting to where we’d like. It is helpful to see when someone who has so much more experience also struggles with areas not quite doing what they had hoped. I also had quite short tulips and it would have been a learning moment for lots. And as you improve the area for next year it would have been great to see that progression.

Hi Laura and Aaron! Another fun recap. I think what most are saying about the bulb, and other plantings, is that you always say you will give an update, then don't always follow through. 1. Try a collapsable hose like a pocket hose in the Hartley. They nestle nicely in a decorative pot and are so, so easy to use. (Since I am older, I have replaced all of our retractable hoses with them because just the tugging and moving of hoses is hard for me. ) 2. There are barriers made for bamboo that might help you around the berry frames to prevent the suckers from growing out.

They are termites (with wings) that cluster. I came home for lunch one day many years ago and there was a big cluster in the middle of my kitchen floor. I called the owner and he came over right away. He said they were termites. He opened the attic door and they had partially eaten away the steps. The area needs to be treated or they will eat up the wood.

Just thinking, you could put a filter under that sink to cut back on the hard water. I love your entire property. You have made me a better gardener and for that thank you. I bought a new and probably last home with my husband. He looked at me and said, “Now go all Garden Answer out here.” I started like you taught us, plant the bones first. We took out several brittle 60 year old trees that were dying, then went shopping and found health big trees to replace and add to the yard. Down went the drip, and off to the garden center with a plan. I also started from seed over 100 seedlings to save money, gotta love Johnny’s.

In response to not being able to do a bulb tour because of all the different bloom times. It would be wonderful to implement a “what’s looking awesome in the garden this week” montage video. My favorite video you have put out is the rainy day garden tour video from a few years ago. So I’m imagining a similar feel to that one, just like a five minute video with pleasant music and video of the plants that are doing great that week. No dialogue, just beautiful views. It seems like a challenge to find the right weather and timing for when everything looks awesome. But if you just highlighted the stars of the week it might take some of the pressure off. As someone that runs a creative business through Etsy, I totally understand that it is a lot easier to come up with ideas than to implement them. If only there where more hours in the day.

I’m with you Laura on color choice for plants, but succumbed to my hubby’s (retired Coast Guard) request this year for ORANGE!! 🤮 One of those times you go with him to the local hardware store, and get drawn to the garden center side!! We have a Polaris Ranger. It's the best of both worlds. We have a fully enclosed cab with HVAC and it has a dump bed as well. We take ours for joy rides around our county and on trail rides, but it is also an excellent work horse. I load my sprayers on it, use it for yard clean up, transport plants in it. We have normal conversations in ours without having to yell at each other. Are they louder than a golf cart or a gator, yes, but they are another way to get work done and they have a large payload capacity to haul around various things. You can haul 1000lbs in the bed. EEK! Laura, when you described the flying “ants” clustering in your sunporch, that reminded me of a very similar experience we had in our sunporch. It turns out they were termites. $2000 later, we had taken care of the problem (we caught it pretty early), but if you let it go unchecked it can be tens of thousands of dollars because you not only have to treat for the termites but you also have to repair the structure of your home. Definitely have a professional come out and take a look!

I think the word you're looking for is 'organic'. The imperfections of natural pieces have a wonderful organic charm that manufactured, uniform, pieces cannot capture.

Hi Aaron, you may want to go with the metal plates like your original suggestion. Those suckers will do anything to get to water. I think the metal is a great idea! They also say control their water supply to control their roots. I was told by a local nursery that they won't carry bamboo and the barriers need to be 36" deep to control runners, so 20-24" is not a big thing. Good luck! 🙏

Love tuning in at the end of my day to see what you've been up to. Just thinking that having your counter in the Hartley higher gives you the opportunity to install a planting trough between the counter and the window. Succulent heaven!

I still would of liked the spring tour because a lot of people may be having similar issues with the bulbs. No one yard can always be perfect

This bulb issue could be handled with a series of pictures over time and edited to one video after all areas have bloomed.

Yes Laura, make the counter in the Hartley confortable to use. That’s the key to really enjoining things in the long run.

I really appreciate and enjoy the recap videos also, but they’re not taking time out of their Sunday mornings to answer our questions. They film the recaps mid-week, have it edited and then schedule it to be posted on Sunday morning.

Laura and Aaron post lots of pictures on their Instagram account, so if you really want to see the spring- bulbs in bloom, that is a perfect place to start! The best part is that you also can see other sweet family pictures that they post!

I don't know if I sound creepy saying this BBUUTTT I could literally listen/watch you two throughout the day and everyday as you talk and bounce stuff off each other. It really is relaxing. Funny as can be at times. The way you communicate is really a blessing to watch. I know we only see a tiny bit of your life, as much as you want us to, and I think that it is one of the most special things about you. You share so much then its a hard stop. You both were placed together for a reason. God Had a Plan when it came to you too. He was going to show his beauty and love through you. And how to have compassion, love, to serve your community, and bring millions of us toward him all without saying a thing about God in the process. They should play some of these videos in marriage prep classes on how to communicate. I am stretching it a bit here but for me and what I witnesses growing up, you are a totally blessing to me.

I would love to see a tour of the bulbs, but I hear ya; they all bloom at different times, and it would be difficult to give a tour of them. I wonder if a montage of pics might be a nice way to show us their beauty. Just a thought :)

Spring bulbs are generally spotty... maybe a collage video of pictures w voice over? Seeing your garden mistakes/ less than perfect is always educational for me too! I love your LONG full garden tours they are watched again and again!! KZbin always autoplay one of your tours if I just let it run. :)

Love love this channel and your sweet family! Thank you for sharing so much knowledge - you truly do inspire! Also, there are different types of golf carts. I use a "utility" cart with a flip up bed. It has a weight capacity of 900 lbs (you can also upgrade the speed if you want to go really fast LOL!) Pretty comparable in use to a gator, but quite a bit less expensive (at least in our area...).. Wish I could share more useful knowledge back to you in consideration of your generosity. Thank you for being yoy!!

Could you set a large pot on top of the lid to the storm drain with something pretty planted in it? You could tell the county you “marked” it for them so they are able to find it easily. 🤓

Just an idea for the Hartley counter top. Could use a rectangular copper planter(s) filled with cactus , air plants, sedum and maybe fairy lights . Would be fun to have decorative arrangements also depending on the holiday or special occasions.
