If you notice that a discussion with an atheist doesn't lead anywhere, it is time to ask an important question.

"MOST PEOPLE AREN'T ON A TRUTH QUEST, BUT ARE ON A HAPPINESS QUEST." I've heard Frank say it often, and I've got to say it's true. The irony is, however, that if you put the pursuit of truth FIRST in your life, then you will eventually find true and lasting happiness!

LoveYourNeighbour Question.... Do you consider yourself on a truth quest?
@LoveYourNeighbour.
@LoveYourNeighbour. 6 жыл бұрын
To be honest, since the last decade or so, I've no longer considered myself as being on a truth quest. I think it was around the time I had finished reading The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins, and I concluded the arguments and evidence pointing toward belief in a creator are far far more convincing than the arguments and so-called evidence for Atheism. I was already reaching this conclusion by the late Nineties, actually, but by around 2005, I had pretty much ACCEPTED the fact that Theism is true, and Atheism is false. So I had reached the end of that 'truth quest.' I checked out your channel, by the way! 1998-2000 was my favorite era for this particular style of Electronic Dance Music. Transa - Behind The Sun, is my favorite song for this particular style. Cheers! Baruch Spinoa.

LoveYourNeighbour So you’re no longer on a truth quest. Isn’t that placing yourself in the same bag as the ones you say aren’t on a truth quest either? And thanks. Oakie’s the best in the world.

I DIDN'T say anything about "the ones" who "aren't on a truth quest." Please don't attempt to put words into my mouth. If you are trying to suggest to me, that after I had reached the CONCLUSION to my "truth quest" regarding Atheism vs Theism, I was "in the same bag" as people who had never even GONE on a truth quest, that simply doesn't make any sense! After reaching the conclusion of my quest for the truth regarding the validity of Atheism vs the validity of Theism, I was no longer on a quest to discover the truth about the matter. You can't continue on and on searching for something you've already found! I assume you didn't intentionally try to misrepresent what I had stated. So hopefully this time you'll understand. Cheers. And I hope you'll make sure to check out the song I mentioned. It's a little-known gem.

That sounds great! The best way to begin (that I know of) is to learn the best arguments from both sides (Atheism & Theism). I began in the early Nineties, by reading the best books (that existed back then) that made their best case for both sides. Listening to debates with William Lane Craig (and more recently) Frank Turek have been quite informative as well. I noticed your channel has J Warner Wallace as a featured channel... Make sure to read his book: God's Crime Scene. It's among the very best Christian Apologetics books of all time, in my humble opinion :-)

ScottEbruh , I'm agnostic myself but enjoy watching apologists like Frank Turek. I think there's some kind of debating tool out there where if anyone could invent it, it would be very prosperous. Perhaps something like a Christian/Atheist debate but for the average person in the form of a contest. Have viewers vote on who they think won the debates and have winners ultimately competing with each other for top honors. There may be something there.

"We Atheists don't believe in anything we can't see, hear, touch, smell, or taste - except for the multiverse, which we can't see, hear, touch, smell, or taste." "No one really has free will - except we Atheists, when we freely arrive at our Atheistic conclusions." LOL, take care!

@nickj14711 I'm still trying to figure out how any of that is hateful. You mentioned that Christians teach that we are all born sinners and non are good. If that is not true then I wonder why we as responsible parents must teach our kids to do good and not do bad things. If in fact we are all born good as you suppose than there would be no need for discipline or teaching your child right from wrong. They would just naturally always do good.

This happened to me at work. The one guy that picked on me & other Christians mocked us, told on us, picked fights with us. One day he did not show up for work, one of his friends told us the Doctors gave him about three months to live, (full of cancer) they could not even find the host he had it everywhere. We (Christians) went to the hospital to see him to weep with him, tell him we are there for him. We gave him some cartoon Bible Tracts as we left, before he died. He went out of his way to talk to us, to wave at us as he saw us. I heard from his wife he did seek the Lord or maybe "religion" before he past away. Remember they are still blind, & need the gospel.

If Christianity were proven true, it would be irrational to deny it. However, it would be perfectly rational to not become Christian. Christianity is more than just a truth claim. It is an ideology, way of life, and religion of dogma. You can accept that Christianity is true without choosing to worship a god who sends people to hell for not living up to his standards and for refusing to accept his blood sacrifice as a gift. I have enough proof that Nazi Germany existed, but that mere fact is not enough to make me want to be a Nazi. Secondly, when atheists have problems, we don't actively look for Christians to talk to. We talk to anyone who can help us and give us comfort. I don't know any atheist who would be like "stuff just happens and there's no reason for anything so f u." I think that an atheist would probably do what they can to help someone because we believe that you only have one life which is finite and it would be horrible for you to spend it suffering. And while you, Frank Turek, are posting videos about how to convert atheists to your religion, millions of people are dying from starvation, disease, poor sanitation, natural disasters, etc. Just think: if every church in America donated 10% of their income to charity, how much of a positive difference would Christianity make on the world? Yet, Christianity's message is to attack the atheists, attack the Muslims, attack gays and lesbians, deny science, fight wars, build walls, prepare for the rapture, and wait for the world to die. Atheists are "hostile," right? Disclaimer: Frank, I know you don't believe all of these things, but your group does. Before you point the finger at atheists, make sure that your group isn't just as bad. John 8:7
@ADMusic1999

@G Will Would it be irrational? If you knew for certain that someone was going to torture you unless you worship him, would you want to give him praise and glory for the rest of your life? I know that you might do so to protect yourself, but would you want to? Only Christians can provide the real deal? Yes if the real deal is judgment and hatred once you disagree with them. I donate to the poor and suffering people any chance I get. I volunteer to feed the homeless and have done many other selfless things. Instead of giving my time and money to a church that does nothing but offer people superstitious answers to real problems, I give it to people in need. Ever heard of Bill Gates or Mark Zuckerberg? They're kind of famous for donating and being atheists. And, their foundations are still on the top list of most charitable foundations. What part of the bible did Jesus say, "attack those who disagree with you?" The hatred of Muslims goes all the way back to the first Crusade, but that doesn't make them evil. And the word "militant" should be used when a group is trying to militarize. What gay person is out there buying guns and bombs for the gay revolution? They already have the rights they wanted so what would be the point of them militarizing? The bible says that the Earth is 6000 years old, man was made from dirt, snakes can talk, a flood can wipe out the world, people can turn into salt, and people can rise from the dead. The message is in the bible so when you see those evolution and round-Earth deniers, you know exactly where they got their inspiration. There's nothing wrong with defending yourself, but when you go to another country and kill millions of innocent men, women, and children, it becomes a problem. Bad stuff gets in with walls. You know airplanes are a thing. Over a span of 30 years, we go from a republican president saying "tear down this wall" to a republican president saying "build the wall." No the world should not die. It has problems but those problems are being fixed. Until we reach Mars, this is our only home in the universe and we need to protect it, not destroy it. I'm glad that atheists don't have the guts to show their hostility. I'm glad that we don't bomb abortion clinics or protest equal rights. I'm glad that we promote freedom of speech and get angry when people are punished for not standing for the anthem or refusing to pray. I'm glad that we dont advocate for killing people who disagree with us and that we generally respect life and the time we have to live it.

If they don't want to hear about God they shouldn't be your friend. Your job is to proclaim the goodness of God and how He has been working in your life. If they walk away then let them walk away, Jesus said if they would listen to Him then they'll listen to you, and if they reject you because of Him it's not you they're rejecting it's Him, shake the dust off your feet and keep walking the path He is leading you on. The thing is that the people will not come unless the Father draws them. People who hate God cannot come to Him because their hatred for Him will not allow them to.

If Christianity were true I would acknowledge that it was true but I would not be a Christian meaning I wouldn’t worship the god. The god of the Old and New Testament is a monster. No one should worship a monster regardless of if it’s true. That’s why atheists say they wouldn’t be Christians if evidence were provided for the religion. Same goes for Islam and other horrible religions too. This is not difficult to understand. Even a Christian could figure it out.

It's not about wanting to be God of my own life. I went on a pursuit of truth having been a Christian my whole life. I found no evidence for God. I have no desire to become a Christian again but if I at any stage become convinced that a God exists then, as Hitchens would say, I still have all my work ahead of me. If God is real, what is its nature? Which, if any, of the religious doctrines of the world are true? If the God of the Bible exists then I don't think I'd want to worship him if the Bible is true. I don't what God to not exist because I want to be able to lower my own standards. If God exists then I would expect God to have standards that are, at the very least, higher than my own. And I don't see that in the God of the Bible.

If I read your post correctly, it seems that you have high moral standards. At the same time, you read Scripture and don't come away thinking that God's standards are any higher than yours. We may have high standards, but we can't keep them. All of us have, as an example, broken some or even all of the 10 Commandments. Only God, who is holy, can keep them. So we shouldn't think for even a skinny minute that we are good enough to come into the presence of a holy God. Only through realizing how bad we are and how holy God is do we see our dire need for the Cross. When we see how much we need the Cross, our hearts are hit with a Tazer! Christ paid the price for our sins, so as a result we can have forgiveness and even access to the Holy God of the Bible. I encourage you to think about this, because knowing your Savior makes all the difference- in this life and for the life to come after you die. I hope you get hit with the Tazer, as I did. When you do, you will become a new person.

But does Frank understand why the atheist wouldn't become a Christian... He should he's been told the reasons often enough but he refuses to tell his sheep those reasons. He asked if they would become a christian, they would believe in a god but that does not mean that they would worship the christian god and therefore actual be a christian. This is where Frank and so many other theist prove that they are wholly dishonest. Because the a reasonable answer was given to the question that they asked. Because the question was not would you believe in a god. Just because you believe a a god does not mean that you have to follow that god. In fact if the christian god actual exists, then I would actively fight against that god because that god is highly immoral. I'm not going to become a christain when I find the christian god to be highly immoral, that's not rational. We do not want to be gods we do not think we are gods, we simply have no reason to believe that gods exist. Even if you prove that a god exists that doesn't mean that we have to listen to anything that this god says. Belief is not the same as blind worship.

Hey Daryl, when you say that you couldn't worship a Christian God because He's highly immoral; on what grounds do you make this claim? By who's authority? Yours? If so there is a logical and philosophical problem with your position - one of the characteristics of the Christian God is that He is Omniscient. How can a being (you, or anyone else for that matter), with limited knowledge (some of this knowledge being critical to making any kind of reasonable judgement of God's character. IE why did He create us? Why does He allow suffering and pain? Why does He allow evil? Is He obligated to follow some code of ethics himself, etc.?) make a just and wise judgement of His character? Would you rashly judge a friend for an action or words expressed if you only knew that he / she did, or said what appears to be damning? There are answers to these questions if you are interested? Some of the following related questions have challenged the minds, and troubled the hearts of mankind for time immemorial! 1. Why are we here? What is the purpose of life? 2. How do we accomplish this / these goal(s)? How do we then prioritize our lives? 3. Why must we suffer in this life? Why is evil allowed? 4. Who are we truly? How do we relate to God? To the Universe? To each other? 5. When / where did our life begin? At conception? At some stage in the womb? At birth? At some other time / place? 6. Is there life after this one? If so, what's it like? Where is it at? I challenge you to answer these questions in an internally consistent and logical manner. Better yet, find a single source, be it science, philosophy, popular theism, or even metaphysics that provides an internally consistent answer to each of these questions. Good luck, you're going to need it! BTW, I'm not an uneducated, anti - science, fundamentalist Christian. For the record: I'm abd for a PhD in chemistry (focus organo - metallics) I hold a MS in chemistry I hold a BS in chemistry (focus organic) and a BS in physical science I have three peer reviewed papers in prestigious chemistry and physics journals, And I've taught chemistry and science courses at the high school and university levels Look, I realize some of these questions may prefigure what at first blush seems to be talking points for some type of new - age - guru (that's the reason I included my science background.

"Truth" is demonstrated dear not asserted, its that which best conforms with the FACTS and EVIDENCE and has nothing whatsoever to do with "faith" Knowledge of FACTS, also called "propositional knowledge", is defined as true belief that is distinct from opinion or guesswork by virtue of justification. A "FACT" is a point of data that is objectively verifiable ( demonstrable ) Absent "Facts" one has only the opinion or guesswork and no justification to claim such knowledge. Science has all the FACTS yet claims nothing as "absolute" truth. Christianity conversely claims absolute truth in everything yet has no FACTS 😜 To assert as FACT that for which there is insufficient evidence is intellectually dishonesty and essentially no different than a *"LIE"*

The issue is that Turek is equivocating between two definitions of the word "believe" here. To illustrate, I believe, on historical grounds, that Julius Caesar was assassinated by Roman senators on the Ides of March. However, my belief in this does not have any effect whatsoever on the way I live my life or the morals I follow. Likewise, some people believe in God, but this belief has no effect on the way they live their life or their moral behavior. In summary, the two different definitions he equivocates between are as follows: believe = cold, meaningless intellectual assent, vs. believe = enduring effect on moral behavior.

The premise is flawed. Being a Christian would entail that you worship the Christian God. If Christianity is true, then it would mean God actually comitted genocide by flooding the world, sending bears to maul children, commanding the slaughter of the Amalekites, gave guidelines on how to treat different types of slaves, killing Job's family to test him only to give him a new one, etc. If Christianity was real, who in their right mind would be a Christian and worship a God claims to be good but acts evil?
@jeffreydean5112
@jeffreydean5112 3 жыл бұрын
Your comment is flawed. A little bit of research would go a long way. When God flooded the world, he gave the people HUNDREDS of years to turn away from sin and they didn't. They were extremely sinful and had plenty of time to turn back to God and didn't. They were given warnings about the flood and laughed and mocked God and Noah. God didn't send bears to maul children lol study the text a little bit please before commenting. The word "youths" in hebrew would have meant young adults which were around 30 to 40 years old, not children (people lived for hundreds of years at this time). The Amalekites were, like the people of the flood, extremely sinful and they attacked the Israelites when they were freed from Egypt. It was uncalled for and unprovoked but they were violent killers and God did away with them. The Bible's word for "slave" is not like the word we use today. This is not like the Africa to America slave trades we saw before the civil war. The hebrew word of slave means more like a servant that is looking to pay off debt or working.....like a job.....where they get paid. Were there slaves that were treated unfairly? Of course there were....look at the israelites in Egypt lol The Bible is very against that and God saved those people. Also God didn't kill Job's family, Satan did. But I will say that God stood by and watched it happen. But look at what happened - Job was not only given a new family but he was blessed with more than he had before. It seems unfair but for Christians, it's about Christ and what He did for us. Job was in Satan's hands (as God stated) and Satan wanted to make his life miserable. I don't get why people get so mad about Job's family dying and his wealth being taken away from him but Job himself (who lost all these things) was still able to praise the Lord. So, in other words, you're more upset about Job losing his stuff than Job is lol I don't write this comment to be a jerk and I understand that the Bible can have some parts that seem bad on the surface but I don't understand people who attack something they don't research and don't care about. Again, 10 minutes of research would give you the answers on these events - Google is a strong tool, I promise. People attack God about things in the Old testament yet never give God the credit for sending Himself to be sacrificed so that we won't go to Hell. I mean, that's a pretty big deal.

How telling that if Christian soteriology is correct the most important factor that differentiates those deserving eternal paradise and those deserving eternal torment is the geographical location one is born into. If one is born in Saudi Arabia there is about a 95% chance that you will belive in the "wrong" God and reject jesus and thus receive eternal damnation in a lake of fire. However be born into America and magically there is about a 95% chance that you will believe in the "right" God and thus receive eternal salvation. 👏👏 Aledgedly this is the justice of a perfect omnibenevolent omnipotent omniscient loving God. The fact that many people who reject jesus often lead devout pious lives and follow very strict and demanding religious practices with regards to worship, diet, clothing and relationships is not a factor, these people seemingly reject jesus because they *"want to sin"* 🤔🤫 Some live lives of isolation and quiet contemplation taking vows of celibacy and silence but the loving jesus still deems these people unworthy of anything other than eternal torment. Conversely however a murderer so long as he truly repents and accepts Jesus on his death bed he can spend an eternity in paradise with those he murdered. Unless of course those people also found the "evidence" for your God unconvincing, in which case the murderer would be looking down from paradise on the people he killed as they too suffered for eternity with me 😡

There are so many problems with this video's logic I can't even list them all. So I'll list the ones that make me facepalm and respectfully roll my eyes the most. 1. Mr. Turek, you are guilty of a black and white fallacy by implying that atheism and the Christian religion are the only two possible positions of absolute truth. Even if this claim were true, to argue its validity by using a black and white fallacy (which he's intelligent enough to know he shouldn't be doing) renders your argument's power moot. Why? Because there are millions and millions of people who could use the EXACT same method of argument for their own religion or belief system. For example, a Muslim could say this: ''Atheists say they're on a path to truth, yet they are apathetic or even hostile to the Islamic faith!'' (thus implying that Islam is the only true faith and thus the atheist is not pursuing truth because they are not pursuing Islam). To accuse an atheist of not being on a path to truth simply because they lack faith in a god is as vague as my saying you are not on a path to truth because you are ''apathetic or even hostile to'' the belief in the Loch Ness Monster. (Though, to be a bit pedantic, I'd technically have the upper hand since not only are there numerous eye-witness accounts of old Nessie, such an aquatic beast would at least have a greater chance of not violating the laws of physics and biology). 2. I'm absolutely OFFENDED at your arrogant, callously insensitive claim that atheists like myself don't want there to be a god. Yes, absolutely I know of atheists who say they would not like the idea of a universe with a god. But as a former dedicated Christian, I (and so many other atheists like myself) don't share their opinion. We-- especially perhaps those of us to whom our faith in God was the most important thing in the world to us-- would LOVE to be able to again believe that there is a heavenly Father watching over us, guiding us, protecting us. How callous you are, Mr. Turek, to undermine, ignore, or deny the grief and sense of deep, profound loss I and so many other atheists have had to face when what had been our identity was stripped away from us and we realized that we were alone-- no guardian angels to shield us, no reuniting with my Nana and Papaw who recently passed away who I'd do anything to share one more moment with. How dare you, sir, belittle or ignore that kind of pain when you've never had to experience it. I and so many others tried desperately to find some way-- some evidence to adequately convince us that our faith was true. In the end, our choice was taken away by conscience and moral obligation to ourselves not to accept anything we no longer believed was true because of such an overwhelming lack of evidence. I do not lack faith because of desire; I lack it because of conscientious necessity. And, for the record, if someone presented irrefutable evidence of a god tomorrow, I'd wake up with an overjoyed smile on my face at the discovery. Though, even if this happened, what guarantee would you have that it would be the God of the Bible? What if it were Zeus, or Odin, or some as of yet unidentified deity? You see, you'd ''still have all your work cut out for you.'' Perhaps, Mr. Turek, you should try to understand the different kinds of atheists instead of trying to speak for us all. Unless you'd like the verse changed to ''Man sees the outside but Turek sees the heart.''

The following Bible verses teach how to buy slaves, how to beat slaves, how to enslave children, how to pass slaves on to next generation as inheritance, how to not treat relatives the way slaves are treated, how to sell daughters, how to kill unruly children, how to kill non-virgin brides, how to downgrade woman by ordering them to be quiet, and how to slaughter an entire nation including their children, infants and animals. You should be ashamed of your dumb self for praising a God who orders the slaughter of even one infant in any context. Exodus 21:7 If a man sells his daughter as a servant, she is not to go free as male servants do. 1 Timothy 2:12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet. Numbers 31:18 But all the women children, who have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves. Exodus 21:2 When you buy a male Hebrew slave, he shall serve for six years, but in the seventh he shall go out a free person, without debt. 1 Peter 2:18 Slaves, in reverent fear of God submit yourselves to your masters, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh. Exodus 21:21 But they are not to be punished if the slave recovers after a day or two, since the slave is their property. Luke 12:47 The servant who knows the master's will and does not get ready or does not do what the master wants will be beaten with many blows. Leviticus 25:44 Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. Ephesians 6:5 Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. Leviticus 25:44-46 NLT However, you may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you. You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way. Deuteronomy 22:20-21 If, however, the charge is true and no proof of the young woman’s virginity can be found, she shall be brought to the door of her father’s house and there the men of her town shall stone her to death. She has done an outrageous thing in Israel by being promiscuous while still in her father’s house. You must purge the evil from among you. Psalm 137:9 Happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks. Deuteronomy 21:18-21 If any man has a stubborn and rebellious son who will not obey his father or his mother, and when they chastise him, he will not even listen to them, then his father and mother shall seize him, and bring him out to the elders of his city at the gateway of his home town. And they shall say to the elders of his city, "This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey us, he is a glutton and a drunkard." Then all the men of his city shall stone him to death; so you shall remove the evil from your midst, and all Israel shall hear of it and fear. 1 Samuel 15:3 3 Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.

@@champagnegonzales6815 "probably tell them that God does not want anyone to go to hell but people chose to do so" And then I tell you that an all loving God wouldn't let any of that happen, because it literally goes against his nature ... Which then means, your God does either not exist or is a sadistic monster, which doesn't deserve worship. "God is holy and just, He could not let sin go unpunished" He could snap sin away from everyone, as he is omnipotent. And because he is omnibenevolent, he'd actually do that, to safe us all from harm ... yet according to you, he doesn't. So again, he either does not exist or is a sadistic monster. "if we would apply this to a judge in a court of law, a judge who turns a blind eye to someone who murdered and raped 3 girls is not a good judge." Great, so God is not a good judge according to you. I have several issues with The Bible & Christianity. Here are some very important questions, that sadly, I am not hearing people ask: There were people in The South & Middles Americas. GOD chose to have them born on Earth, in geographic areas where they & their ancestors were geographically & physically cut off from Christ; The Prophets; The 10 Commandments & The Torah. GOD also chose to have some of them born on Earth, in The South & Middle Americas, while Christ was walking in Judea. These peoples *NEVER* heard The Name of Jesus Christ. They *NEVER* heard The Prophets. They *NEVER* received The Bible, nor heard The Word of GOD. They were *NEVER* taught about Faith. They *NEVER* heard The 10 Commandments. They *NEVER* were given The Torah. These people *NEVER* got a fair hand-shake from GOD. Because GOD chose to place them on the Earth during a time, & to where they would be 100% physically isolated from learning of GOD & THEIR Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ. ________________________________ -So with all the above in mind, here are my questions... & I ask because I feel like since I have realized this terrible tradgedy, it is my duty to at least pleade my case to GOD, on behalf of all these (probably millions....if not billions of) people!!! Because who is going to be their voice? They are dead & no one on Earth today, seems to think of them & care about the lot in life that GOD gave them...much less the fate of their souls! So I am that person. I am questioning GOD on their behalf. I will be their voice, to make their case. I will inquire of GOD to give an answer. Because a Just GOD cannot be Just, if THEY judge everyone to the same standard, after not giving to everyone the same measure. These peoples were short-changed. They didn't get the same opportunities *(they got ZERO opportunities)* as the rest of The Human Race that was given at least 1 of the 7 following opportunities: (1) The Prophets (2) The Torah (3) The 10 Commandments (4) Some of us heard Christ directly as a physical man (5) Some of us heard Christ indirectly via The Bible (6) Some of us heard The Disciples & the Apostles directly as physical people (7) Some of us heard The Disciples & the Apostles indirectly via The Bible -But these peoples were geographically cut off from hearing *ANY* of the above list of 7 ways GOD measures unto a person THEIR Teaching of THEIR Way & THEIR Hope for redemption. ...So my questions are, *WHY* ? *WHY* didn't GOD give these peoples not even one of the 7 opportunities to know GOD, THEIR Laws, THEIR expectations, THEIR Word -THEIR Only Begotten Son Jesus Christ The Living Son of GOD?? *HOW* can a Just GOD judge these people when GOD chose to deny them any of the 7 opportunities? *WHY* would GOD show partiality?.... especially concerning this??? *WHY* would GOD choose to give a sub-set, group of The human Race *ZERO* of the 7 opportunities? *HOW* can Christ return if not everyone heard His Name? *SINCE* Christ could walk on water.....Before Christ laid down His life on The Cross, why didn't Christ at least just walk across The Atlantic Ocean & share his Good News to these peoples?? There were also many people in The Pacific Islands & Oceania who, like the peoples of South & Middle Americas, never got *ANY* of the 7 opportunities that I listed above. *WHO* is going to plead their case unto GOD? The Church doesn't really even care to acknowledge any of this! & if Christians _do_ acknowledge this, they come up with a cop-out excuse to justify it .....such as, "Well GOD writes upon the hearts of men THEIR Laws, so they don't need Prophets, The Bible, etc..& GOD can still judge them because they have a conciense..." -Ok, so if that's the case, then *WHY* do any of us need the Prophets, The 10 Commandments, & The Bible? *IF* those people didn't need to hear The name of Jesus Christ, why does _anyone_ need to hear The Name of Jesus Christ?? *IF* GOD writing THEIR Laws upon the hearts of men is good enough, then why would GOD of sacrificed THEIR Only Begotten Son, in the first place?? ...Wouldn't writing THEIR Laws on the hearts of men & giving men a conscious just be good enough?? I mean, the whole demand for a Savior stems from GOD's Laws written upon our hearts, & us having a conscious *NOT* being good enough... i.e. we need The Savior, Christ. -Well these peoples were kept from knowing GOD & Christ because of where & when GOD chose to place them upon the Earth. ________________________________ So obviously there is a misunderstanding surrounding all this. I hope that GOD "Grandfathers" these people into The Heavens. A Just GOD would have to, in order to truely be a Just god, under these circumstances. ________________________________ This is a big problem for Christianity. & so far it remains one. But most importantly, *WHO* other than myself cares about those people's souls?? Christians don't seen to care about them.
@adamrspears1981

@Beetchacha What you posted is exactly the reason why I ask the questions I have asked. According to the Bible, Jesus Christ showed up a little bit late to the party. Had Christ laid down his life for The Human Race *prior* to Abel being murdered by Cain, then your's & Christianity's claims would hold water. I am sorry if I come off as a little bit frustrated. Its because I am. I very clearly & methodically laid out that a flaw of Christianity is that people who lived & died prior to Christ's birth; & who were geographically cut off from all Old Testament dealings/events, could not ever hear The Name of Jesus Christ. Most of your post addresses peoples upon the Earth during & after Christ's time upon the Earth. You did, however, cite the typical "GOD's laws are written upon the hearts of men, so their own mind/thoughts/conscience will suffice on Judgement Day" scripture. Ok. So taking that at its face-value (because if One believes that GOD authored all scripture, then what is the harm in taking GOD's Word at face-value?) ....So taking it at face value, what it is describing is that peoples without knowledge of Old Testament dealings (Prophets, 10 Commandments, Torah, Abraham's Covenant, etc..) & who never heard the name of Jesus Christ (because they died prior to Christ's birth) are basically left to navigate through their lives with their own moral compasses. & let's face it...when a person is left to decide what defines "right" & what defines "wrong" in their own life....their definition is not going to be the same as another. I'll give you an example: People that lived in Middle or South America, prior to Christ's birth may have worshipped (what we know today to be) a false god. But to _these_ people it wasn't a false god. It was as real as real can be to them in their minds & in their society. They didn't have the 10 commandments. & as far as we know, there may not of even been the *concept* of a false god in their minds. Now the 10 Commandments say, "You shall have no other gods before Me." -But these people didn't have the 10 commandments. So from their perspective; in their society.....they would not be able to know that they were doing something that God forbids them to do. So (& this is *very* important) if their minds or their conscience is going to be "the standard" that they are weighed against on Judgement Day, then they are good to go & have nothing to worry about. Why?.... Because in their mind, they did nothing wrong. They needed rain for a good crop, so they sacrificed virgins &/or babies to their Rain god, for example. They did the only thing they knew to do. As I said, for all you & I know, the concept that "there is only 1 real GOD, YHWH, & any other god is false" may not of even existed in their minds. So they had no idea that they were breaking 1 of the 10 Commandments....even if someone from The Levent were to of shown up at their door-step just to poke their head in & say, "FYI....there exists this tablet with 10 Commandments etched into it!" -They'd still not know they were doing something that GOD doesn't like. Ok. But going by what you & I know today (by hearing the name of Jesus Christ; having The Bible complete with the 10 commandments) of course, from our position upon the Earth at this time that we live in, we can vety clearly & easily see that their moral compass was not pointing True North. But to these people, it WAS, even _if_ they were sacrificing children & worshipping a "Rain god". -Why? Because GOD placed them upon the Earth geographically isolated from any of GOD's Law (which would of shown them "True North" on their moral compass as they lived out their lives) *AND* GOD also placed them on Earth prior to sending THEIR Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, The Living Son of GOD. I can't stress enough the *absurdity* that "An all-powerful, all-knowing, & completely in control, GOD wants to rectify flaws of being Human......but THEY squat on THEIR Solution (Jesus Christ) for thousands of years.... resulting in (possibly trillions, if not million or even billions) of souls living & dying with no Savior; -& some of which not even hearing the words of The Prophets. -Which were GOD's *direct* communication-line to people... (but only just for a limited few!...Because after all, a Just, Loving, Merciful, & Gracious GOD who wants every Human Being on Earth to know THEM & THEIR Way would *only* directly communicate with a select few.) ...prior to Christ The Mediator of GOD & people. *AND* this so-called "Just" GOD is going to judge them! To anyone who believes that every soul gets judged: What about the unborn who are aborted? ...Is GOD going to judge them too? What about babies still in diapers that, unfortunately, die.....are they going to be judged? -Now wait a minute! Before you hurry up & answer, let's consider what Christianity claims of sin: Christianity claims that we are *born into sin* . The act of being born makes us sinners. That is _why_ Christ was born of a Virgin from The bloodline of King David, because Christ's father is not Earthly but The Heavenly Father. That is _why_ we must be *born again* . Ok. So what about, for example, a new-born healthy baby, that unfortunately dies of corona virus at the age of 6 months..... According to what Christianity claims, that child was born, & born into sin ...... So does GOD judge a 6 month old baby?? Judge them based upon what...& for what? Wait a minute, Christianity claims that a 6 month old baby is a sinner, because after all he/she was born into sin. See how ridiculous this is??... ________________________________ Look, if you or anybody out there wants to believe Christianity; & are ok with its teachings & claims...great. What you & others decide is up to you & others. But for myself, after literally decades of studying the Bible; hearing Christian Doctrines; being baptized, praying, fasting, attending church, asking questions *& getting different answers from quite a few Christians* -Some of these various answers not even being compatible... -All from Christians/bible scholars that claim they "Know The Truth" & "The Bible is very clear" -but after asking them the same question, they each give answers that sometime contradict each other. To where so many times I am left thinking, "Well it cannot be both ways. At least one of these "Bible Experts" doesn't know what they are talking about." -& this _is_ the problem you get when you have a belief system that allows just anybody to wake up one morning & claim GOD told them "x, y, & z". ________________________________ Imagine if just anybody could wake up one morning & claim that they are a brain-surgeon & were allowed to start cutting on people in the ER... -That would be a real disaster wouldn't it?

@Beetchacha No Sir. How can one believe another exists before that other is even born? How can one Call upon The Name of The Lord, when they've never heard The Name of The Lord?? People who lived & died prior to Christ's birth, cannot -As it is written in Romans 10:9 kjv " *That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved* ." Why? *BECAUSE ACCORDING TO CHRISTIANITY, CHRIST SHOWED UP LATE TO THE PARTY* So by the time He was in the mix, others had already showed up to the party; had their fun & left the party! -I really don't know how else to break it down for you. -& _this_ is exactly what I am getting on about! -I am so fed up with you people because you guys reply with stuff that makes no sense! In your last response, you claimed that the peoples who I am addressing: *PEOPLES WHO LIVED & DIED PRIOR TO CHRIST'S BIRTH* knew Christ just as you & I know Christ! ???????????????🤯 wtf, dude?? & really I apologize for taking my frustrations out on you. Its actually *not* your fault. You have been brain-washed, & as a result, unfortunately you lack the ability to grasp simple concepts. & this is why I urge you to do whatever you must to separate yourself from the source of your brain-washing. I truely & sincerely wish you all the best. ________________________________ Sorry. I made the mistake of assuming you were a guy. & as you have informed me, you are not a guy. So I apologize for assuming you were a guy. ________________________________ However, _if_ my only mistake here is assuming you were a guy on social media, with a name on youtube that (to me) gives no hint that you are a woman..... I think I'm golden. You, on the other hand, have made the much more serious mistake of allowing your self to be brain-washed to the extent that you (I say this out of concern, & not insult) are demonstrating that you lack the ability to understand that people who died prior to Christ's birth cannot confess Him as their personal Lord & Savior. -& Christ's very purpose was to save The Human Race because every Human Being is (according to Christianity) born into sin. ________________________________ -Which actually brings me to another flaw in Christianity: Christianity claims we are sinners by merely being *born into sin* . -So the act of one's birth, (of which one has *no* control over) makes one a sinner. But yet Christianity, *also* claims that one is a sinner as soon as they "decide to steal a cookie from the cookie jar". -Now which is it: Are we sinners by being born into sin... stemming from a generational curse going back to Adam & Eve.... ...Or are we sinners when we eventual give into the temptation of "stealing a cookie from the cookie jar" ? I mean, if sin is sin, why would one take priority over the other? Or why would it be one or the other?? If Christianity holds The Truth, why would it claim on one had sin happens by just us being born; -But then on the other hand claim that it depends on our actions *AFTER* we are born when we sin & therefore meet the standard of being a sinner? Because, really it can't be both ways. Because _if_ we are sinners because we are born into sin, then Christ's self sacrifice & resurrection corrected that; & then all that is needed is for one to confess with their mouth & believe in their heart....& the rest is history! (unless, of course, you died prior to Christ's birth & you cannot do that) & our acts from then on are obsolete because the source of sin is not in our actions, but rather in our being born into sin .....of which Christ rectified on our behalf at Calvary. ________________________________ But if we are, instead, sinners because of our certain actions, i.e. "taking a cookie from the cookie jar" then why would our original birth need to be rectified by Christ's sacrifice at Calvary ....which (again, as Christianity claims) also rquires us to be "born again" ?? -So you see, it actually _does_ matter if what qualifies us as sinners involves both ....& Christianity implies that both qualifies us as being sinners. So, this is another red flag with Christianity. ________________________________ Here is what I suspect may of been the cause of these "red flags": Prior to The Apostle Paul's Ministry, the tenants of the pre-cursor that had just barely gotten off the ground by the diciples of Christ (& developed into what eventually became "Christianity") was pretty much established. However, when Saul became Paul, he didn't jive very well with the others of The Faith. Because Paul really put his own "spin" on it...& that is what eventually became this other thing that is called Christianity. But because Christianity has some Judeo- roots....some things already established by some of the others from the Faith remained. & the result is essentially, a number of "you can't have it both ways" conundrums that plague Christianity. -I can't be too certain of this. BUT after quite a few years of careful examination of Christianity, this seems to be the case.

@Beetchacha "...you do know that the apostles did not understand the mystery of Christ until AFTER he died..." -Um ok ...But in their defense, you _do_ know that the Apostles didn't even exist until *after* Christ died ....Which is actually what motivated them to be Apostles in the first place, right?... 🤔...........🤦 & as far as this "Mystery of Christ" that you keep referring to: Why would GOD send Christ, The Way, The Truth & The Life to rectify the flaw of The Human Race...... *as a mystery* ??? Can you think of any example where someone with pure intentions claims to present the Truth....but ends up shrouding it in mystery to where only some can benefit from it? If I, or anyone for that matter, were to gather you & others in a room & swear to you all that I have nothing but good intentions for you, & that my purpose is to empower you so that you benefit from the Truth that I possess ...but I make it a mystery, & have, behind the scenes, pre-determined that only a select few of you will actually understand so that you are empowered... ...Wouldn't you be a little bit suspicious of me? -I mean, at that point its not really as much about being skeptical, as it is just being wise for your own security! You know con-artists do exactly this. They make claims to get your attention. Then they persuade you that they are devoted & committed to your benefit, but "ya just just gotta trust 'em" & do exactly as they say... They claim they will "show" you how to dramatically (for example) "turn a dollar into a million dollars" -But guess what?! ....They just keep leading you around. They keep their "recipe for success" a mystery. They waste your time. & either 1 of 2 things happen: (1) You realize they are scamming you & you bail. or (2) You don't & they scam you. ________________________________ Now, I'm going to go out on a limb here by guessing that you might of heard about this "mystery of Christ" reference in Church... & if that is indeed the case... Maybe you should think about the above example I am giving you about how the con-artist operates. I think you're getting scammed in Church. Because a good GOD for The Human Race, with The Truth, wouldn't turn it into a "mystery" that THEY have pre-determined that only a select few can benefit from.....but somehow still Justly judge everyone & those that were not "meant to benefit from the mystery" burn in hell forever. -If you wanna believe that load of crap, then by all means its your right to be able to do so. But believe me when I say that I am def not the sharpest tool in the shed.... but lady, even I can see through that non-sense!

I'm convinced speakers such as Frank are now just telling Christians what they want to hear. It's impossible for him to not know why most atheists don't accept the christian or any god to be true. Claiming we don't believe because we just want to party and sin is ridiculous. That's like saying Christians don't want to stop believing because they'd have to start taking accountability for their wrong doings.

This is the problem with religion and those who profess science. They seem to think that there are only 2 camps of seekers. There’s more, and one of those options is that of a seeker of the actual truth. Not just what can science prove at this point or which religion is the correct religion. There are some who are interested in whatever the actual totally of the truth is and whatever that truth is that individual would be willing to invoke all their energy into understanding. It’s not either creation or evolution. A true seeker or scientist should be open to whatever is found.

According to Gods word slaves are suppose to he tooken care of, they eat, the get a day off, if they run away then you arent suppose to return them to their master but let them live with you until they find a place they will like to live that doesnt oppress them, you arent suppose to let other people talk crap about your slaves, and you are suppose to give slaves what is just amd equal without threatening them. There are tons of people God has help who have once suffered you cant blame God for not helping those who dont wont help thus causing suffering for others and themselves. Sin is a strong curruption. What kind of proof or evidence are you lookong for? Science doesnt even deal in proofs? No one goes to hell for not believing its the actions they do because they dont believe is why they go to hell. For a lofe time of wrong you get a lifetime of punishment. Good point by Frank Turek but for anyone looking for answers I have the following to say. 1. Create a genuine connection with them first and the more time you spend talking to god from your heart/building that love relationship with Jesus the better, as His love will flow through you onto the people around you naturally. 2. Share with them the Gospel messege (Repent and put Jesus as lord and saviour) but dont put this off to long as you dont know how long they have left on this earth. 3. And just continue to pray for them and be there friend without looking to "win them over" a good way to look at it is to love them into the kingdom:). You can only do so much and you are just called to share the gospel messege and love people but it is the Holy spirit who will bring them into the kingdom so let him do his job and you do yours:). And if they have any questions for anything like the resurrection etc and you dont know all the answers, then try to find out where they can go to find answers. Remember changing someones heart/worldview dosent happen overnight and even if you give them all the answers for their mind, their heart will still be distant thats why stories of Gods love for them are powerful. What I mean is I recommend giving them 'the case for christ' by Lee strobel as it has evidence for the resurrection but it is all framed inside the authors story of transformation from athiesm to faith from the evidence and along the way the reader discovers Gods love for them. So its powerful because it engages the head and the heart!:). Sorry if this got unrelated and dragged on but I hope it helps someone:)

"If christianity were true would you become a christian?" Depends on what you mean. My goal in life is to believe as many true things and as few false things as possible. My method of achieving that is via the most rational assessment I can make of the evidence I have. So for me, it's not so much a question of "is it true?" as it is about "can you demonstrate that it is true?" If christianity is true and you can't give me evidence for it then no, I wouldn't believe. But there's another issue. Notice that speaker conflates "believing christianity to be true" with "being a christian". He assumes, apparently without even realising he's doing it, that if you believe christianity to be true then you must necessarily become a worshipper of the god of christianity - indeed he speaks as if those two are the exact same thing. But they're really not. If you prove to me that christianity is true then I will believe that christianity is true - of course I would! But I have moral issues with the christian god which would prevent me from becoming a worshipper of him, even if he does exist. So whilst I would believe in christianity, I would not "become a christian". It's also worth noting that this is purely hypothetical - you *can't* prove that the christian god is true. Nobody can. You can't prove that god exists any more than I (or anybody) can prove that he doesn't. Whether you agree with all that or not, it is an answer to the question and I hope it demonstrates why that question doesn't shake my atheism in the slightest.

honest question from a christian. where do you get "your" moral values from?
@grahamhaspassedaway4580
@grahamhaspassedaway4580 4 жыл бұрын
@@kaizze8777 So-called 'social' species are ones in which evolution has driven the individuals to act in the best interest of collective groups. So for instance a bee doesn't act for itself, but for the best interest of the hive. This makes sense because it's through the welfare of the hive that the bee's genes are passed on. Humans are not as socialised as bees, but we are social animals who live in groups - families, tribes, villages, towns, cities, countries. As such, evolution has programmed us with instincts to care about one another. That's why we have things like empathy, a desire for fairness, a need for companionship, etc, especially for those we regard as being part of our "in group". Now that's the source of our desire to live and work together for the common good, but how that desire is expressed through rules of behaviour is something that we create, as individuals, as families, as societies. This is where our laws, both moral and legal, come from. They are the rules we've come up with to enable us to live and work together in groups, whilst satisfying our evolved sense of fairness, empathy, desire for love and companionship, and other social instincts. So in short - I get my morals from my upbringing, my society, my peers, and my own intellectual consideration of my actions in relation to others. All of this shaped by social instincts that humanity has evolved as a semi-social species. I hope that answers your question.

@@grahamhaspassedaway4580 thank you for that. In the Bible we are either leaning on our own understanding and works and righteousness. Or leaning on God. I used to believe the same things as you, I thought myself to be socially adept and thought all my views in perfect alignment with the world. Heck I even coached people on this very topic. That doesn't leave the fact I had a huge hole in my being. Something was missing and no amount of worldly knowledge could fill it. It wasn't until I heard the gospel, and things really did click and make sense. And that comes from God's moral values which is ultimately the ultimate value cos everything comes from him. If you ever feel like something is missing (don't reply on this comment. Seriously ask yourself in your private moments) ask God to reveal himself to you and he will. "If christianity was true would you become a christian?" No, and I'll explain why, because he definitely didn't give the answer I would. If christianity we're true, I would believe in the christian god, yes. But there's a difference between only believing in a god and actually adhering to that god and serving it. That is something I would definitely not do. And I have a multitude of reasons for that, mainly going back to the morality of the christian god as shown in scripture, which advocated for slavery, commanded genocide and actually performed a few himself, and so on. So it'd boil down to "I'd believe in that god but I would refuse to worship such a vile character." But another point of clarification. That's not why I don't believe. Just to make that clear.
