The one about janitors is true. I worked as a custodian at an elementary school for 4 years, yes I sang into my mop when cleaning bathrooms. I worked 3:30-11pm, one night a teacher came in around 8pm to do some substitute notes for the next day. I thought I was alone in the building, singing Sweet Transvestite from Rocky Horror in the bathroom while mopping. We had a good laugh....

21:30 The stabbing story, this is very typical of schools to ignore the bullying, the assaults, and the fear a kid is going through from the bully, but the second the victim fights back (no matter the degree, be it a fight to this story's stabbing) the school steps in and punishes the VICTIM of the bullying... The victim is punished for their actions, yet no punishment for the school employees.... They FAILED and at the very least should lose their jobs if not arrested.

About school "incidents": I was a substitute teacher for high school in California, but one day they begged me to teach sixth grade. At recess I found a couple of the kids in my class french kissing and groping, rubbing, and really going at it. A colleague told me this behavior HAD to be reported to the girl's mother, at least. But when I called her, she said, "What's the big deal? I got pregnant when I was 12, and it didn't hurt me any! Mind your own business!" Believe it or not, being told off by a parent because they are less concerned about their child than you are is fairly common.

As someone who has been a student aide in elementary, middle, and high school libraries (where I mostly shelved books and worked circulation), was a volunteer at my city library for 6 years in middle and high school (I served on a board planning, advertising, and helping to run events for children and teens) and then worked as a federal student work study aide in collection management at my college library (I tracked down old books that were out-of-date and hadn't been checked out in years, put the ISBN into the computer to see if we could sell them, and then packaged the books to be sold or recycled), I'm really glad that someone mentioned some of the things librarians do. I did a lot of different things, and I was just a volunteer. People don't always understand that librarians have to have masters degrees, and that they have to have them for a reason- they do a lot of different things.

It's good you can't deny alcohol sales to addicts. If you were allowed to, people would. Alcohol is one of few substances where, in severe cases, the withdrawal can kill. As bad as it feels to withdraw from opioids (and trust me it feels really fuckin bad) it won't kill you unless you have some severe existing condition. Alcohol on the other hand can produce intense seizures. Other sedatives like Benzos can also produce seizures (I've experienced this myself) and they can be lethal as well but the odds of permanent brain damage or death is significantly less likely than with alcohol.

More stuff about librarians: on tv we are depicted as really shy, quiet people, but in reality, most librarian positions are better suited for extroverted people. Even librarians who don’t interact with people need people skills as you still need to negotiate, work and interact with colleagues. -Keeping a library running requires a ton of work, and half of the job consists of creating statistics about pretty much everything. -Librarians require constant training, you need to go to conferences, courses, seminars, or at the very least, read journal articles, you never stop learning the trade. -Also there are sone major downsizes: office politics are usually a pain in the ass, budget cuts are a constant, as any academic environment you still need to deal with huge egos and fierce competition if you want to be listened to, you have as much fun as retail do while working with the public, you’re supposed to help people learn and grow, but the amount of stupidity you meet on a daily basis gets discouraging and frustrating, I mean there’s a reason why librarians are depicted as being grumpy all the time.

Used to be a projection manager at a chain down in AZ. They paid for all of the regular projectionists to learn how to do some of the low-level fixes (like changing out the powerful light inside the projector). Part of the training included being told that if we didn't wear the complete PPE to do the work, and anything happened... we'd have to pay for our hospital bills ourselves. About a year later. I didn't bother remembering any of the training, because the only PPE they had on hand is the thick gloves and the face mask, not the full torso lead apron. A light burns out, and the head manager asks me to change it. "Nope!" He looks surprised, and asks why not. "Because, we don't have the proper PPE on hand, and I am NOT getting stuck with the medical bills if anything happens, like the bulb exploding on me." He couldn't argue with that one. There are corners I'll bend, but they don't involve the chance of major physical harm to myself or others.
@kenyadavenport58224 жыл бұрын
You don't get seen quicker at the hospital just because you come in an ambulance. They still do triage so if you're not having like chest pains at like a 10 or if you haven't just been in a traumatic accident you'll get sent to the waiting room if they're full.
@SetsunaMeiou-SailorPluto2 жыл бұрын
Nope. Generally if you're experiencing chest pains that is considered emergent enough to be seen because it could be any number of things but they mostly consider heart attacks first. Not everyone experiences them the same. Some women and men only have symptoms of acid reflux and it turns out they're having a heart attack, its blocked or they're throwing clots. They still have to rule out actual emergent conditions before making you wait because they're on the hook if you die in their waiting room because they didn't think your heart giving out was enough of an emergency. Strokes too. Related - My grandmother is going to have a serious lawsuit if she chooses to press charges when she recovers because they refused to treat her for the stroke she came in for because they wanted to make her wait for a covid test. After the neurologist who saw her literally told them to give her the meds he ordered or she would suffer permanent disability. As soon as he left they started bullying my grandmother who couldn't even speak at the time into waiting for a stupid fucking covid test when literally every second counted. They wouldn't let us see her yet either and we only found out this was happening when the neurologist came back to prep her for surgery she needed only to find out they never gave her the treatment she was supposed to get hours ago and we could literally hear his screaming at these people all the way from the emergency room. He gave her the meds himself and did it all for her from then until she left because he didn't trust them to actually give them to her. He also wrote a statement himself for her without being asked in case she wants to press charges. All this after my grandfather, her husband, had died less than a month before due to hospital negligence also due to covid. He had to have surgery on his heart because he was 90% blocked and had at least 4 stents that I remember. Still recovering from colon cancer. And they didn't fucking check on him for nearly 24 hours after his surgery because they were too worried about testing everyone and everything for covid to make sure their patient wasn't developing an infection after major heart surgery. He ended up developing a severe infection and was in septic shock by the time they actually bothered to check. And only a few hours later he died. In anguish. And they went against his DNR because my mother decided she didn't get enough time with him. My grandmother had not wanted to deal with a lawsuit over it because she wasn't handing his death well. She was all alone. She'd never been alone since she and my grandfather got married at 19. Over 50 years. She was wasting away when she had the stroke. And so she has another lawsuit to file when/if she recovers. She has round the clock nurses and physical therapy because she lost a lot of function because of their negligence. I'm obviously still extremely pissed off. My family somehow still swears by that hospital and refuses to go anywhere else. Know your rights when when to demand proper care from your doctors or you'll end up like my grandparents.

Another story from that AZ movie theater. . I was working in the Vault, which is mostly picking up the extra cash from the registers and counting them down at the end of the night. Mag-lock doors, where if the one to the office is open, you can't enter or leave the Vault. The reverse is also true. During the holiday seasons, we would sometimes have up to three people in a 8'x12' room, two safes, a locking cabinate for the reset tills, and a pair of standard 2'x6' tables with a few chairs to sit in as we worked. To relieve the boredom of counting thousands and thousands (not joking) of someone else's money, once we had the bricks of 50's and 100's (or 20's) rubber banded tight, we'd hold one up and show it to the others in the room, commenting that, "This is a brand new car," or "This is the down payment on a house," NEVER using "my" or "your" ever when saying this. Had the second in command of the place hear this joke and wig out on me, and I gave him a disgusted look and told him, "You could open both safes and it wouldn't be enough money. I'd have to leave the country, and find one far enough away that you couldn't get me back to stand trial, and I =like= living in this country!" He looked a bit shocked by my statements, but didn't fuss more about the bricks-of-money comments we'd been making. . So it's not the holiday season. I'm alone in the Vault, counting down drawers, restocking them for opening tomorrow. Someone comes in and tells me to turn off my radio and takes away my landline phone. Cell phones are just starting to take off, and I didn't have one yet. I've got lots to do, and just nod as he takes my phone, not even thinking to ask why he's doing that. Finally, more than an hour later, I've done all I can, and try to leave. . I cannot. . The Vault is locked, meaning the other door is propped open. While I have my radio, since they told me to turn it off, I know no one will hear me if I turn it on and call. I have no phone. I look to the tube we use to send money up to the Vault from the box office. All the tubes are downstairs... but I press the send button. Wait a few minutes and repeat. Do this cycle about 7 times, at which point someone comes up to let me out. Turns out there was a bomb scare, and not only did no one mention it to me, they all forgot I was even in the building until I started "sending" nothing down the tube until they let me out. They started hearing the noise and looked around, and when they realized what it was, remembered they hadn't cleared me out of the Vault. Peeved me quite a bit. Glad there wasn't really a bomb.

I have been programming for a few years now. I taught myself in 7th grade and decided to try making a game in JavaScript last year. I am fairly certain that had I not had access to Google none of my game would be working. Very rarely does your initial code work and when it does you will often find it doesn't work the way you want it to. Also I hate quotation marks. They are a pain to deal with when using HTML. Especially when double layering HTML or something similar. Your brain can also get messed up if you work with nested arrays for too long. It isn't permanent, but you will be very confused for a while. I learned about this when trying to make a way to store numbers above the hard cap of 10^308, when adding auto songs to a discord bot, and when making my game.

41:49 Used to deliver newspapers, can confirm it is never kids anymore. You gotta be up at two A.M. and then deliver all the papers on your route by six. And the pay sucked. Fortunately, that's early enough that there's no cars on any of the residential streets, so you can generally go all over the road with impunity. It makes crap a LOT faster. Also sometimes people will leave you tips. Also, the reason so many people who play teenagers are in their twenties or whatever is due to child labor laws (which puts a huge cramp on the amount of time minors can actually spend on set) and so that directors don't have to deal with as many Stage Moms. And well, Dead Poets Society was set in the 50's at a private school that only ran because of rich parents. It's not that surprising that staff weren't raising concerns about their charges, especially since the abuse in the movie was largely emotional rather than physical.

57:50 I wonder if "Saving Private Ryan" is an example of a movie portraying war properly.

I was thinking that myself. And maybe American Sniper as well since it was based on actual missions run by the sniper. And actually a youtube channel had a war vet come in and break down some scenes in military movies. He broke down some scenes from American Sniper. He said it was kinda accurate.

I work for a very well known and prestigious company... I am the entire art department. They are to cheap to hire any other graphic designers... they have the money but instead just give me more titles currently i am art director, website designer, graphic designer, photographer, concept artist, layout artist, package designer, social media designer, social media manager, illustrator.... and lots more... i need an intern or something. but they will never give it to me.

fight: person doing the stabbing should not have been the only one expelled although that kid got off light. Teacher who allowed the situation to get out of hand should have been dumped (not the one who broke up the fight) I would have expelled the bully as well. Bullies are a holes and ruin the school environment for everyone. It is always good to get the whole story. Probably some rule about weapons being brought to school is an automatic expulsion.

loophole don't bring a weapon,. find one at school... The staff that ignored the complaints of the victim should be arrested... Accessory to the crime..

Thing about going out to find an artist, some bands record really well but sound horrible live, like Poison and Coheed and some bands are the opposite, Chicken Foot being a prime example.

They had one woman collecting funds for a Christmas party or some bullshit but then the fired her without first retrieving the money so she decided to use it as unemployment bonus. LOL.

The manager for the drivers and the manager for the pharmacy during night shift recently had a spat that resulted in both of them threatening to take it up with the big boss who oversees everything. Neither are particularly likable. The big boss man is... not unlikable but also frustratingly naive.

Your school seems decent then. Good on your parents/guardians doing you a favour. No need to have all the excess drama around you when your goal is to get an education.

I'd appreciate some time stamps in videos like this so I can skip the types of stories that are graphic and disturbing. I have enough problems trying to sleep at night with the stuff I already deal with, so I don't exactly want more fuel to those nightmares.
@derwolfgaming77754 жыл бұрын
I DOUBT your nightmares are as bad as mine. Considering that when tell people some of the least disturbing ones people wonder how I deal with them. Seriously ain't nothing as bad as some of the my most disturbing ones.

To the person who works in a hostel in Amsterdam. If you have things going missing and he is the one cleaning the rooms then you need to tell him you don't need him anymore and that you are hiring a local person to do the job. If they don't understand then tell them they are fired. Stand up to the slacker / thief. You will lose business and the word will spread that you have thieves working for you. You should have reported that person to the police once he told you about his passport and the conversion rate for 150 pounds to euros. He could have googled the conversion rate. Sounds like he is a real Dumb butt.
