Americans have an allergy to kilo, besides milk, wheat, nuts and pollen. The metric system unit for energy is a Joule. Food energy is printed as kJ in Europe, but the numbers are bigger and harder to add up.

Hey, i know I’m a bit late with this video but is a kcal and a calorie the same thing? Like everyone says that women are supposed to eat 2000 calories a day, does that also mean women are supposed to eat 2000 kcals per day?
@apprenticemath5 жыл бұрын
Yes.1 kcal = 1 Calorie, so 2000 of it is a nice diet, can not survive only on 2000 calories (watch the capital C)
@stars67024 жыл бұрын
1 kcal = 1000 cal , the guy that replied is a moron amd if you want to lose weight you need to burn more calories then you eat , you can handle even 500 cal per day, a plate of potato stew with meat and vegetables = around 110-130 calories, and a bowl of soup like 80- 120 calories or more if you add sour cream to it and other fat things so you can enjoy 3 meals of home cooked meals and consume +- 500 calories a day and if your workout burns 800 calories per day or more you will lose weight fast whitout starving yourself, just avoid junk foods = poison foods and sugar

There are a billion videos and even one of my nutrition "professors" that are oblivious to any difference. Even the ones purporting to explain calories. This should be the only video lol. But no cartoons to watch so ya know...

So what you said Is A kcal is an amount( I did not catch what you said if you did)of calories? Can you confirm this I'm on a diet?
@apprenticemath6 жыл бұрын
A kcal is an amount of energy that heats up 1 kg of water by 1 degree C.

All I want to know is if the Calorie is the same as the kcal?
@apprenticemath5 жыл бұрын
@@rlicon1970 In the food industry, yes. Everywhere else, hell no.

apprenticemath what is that even supposed to mean. im cutting and my stationary bicycle says kcal and i dont even know what it means.
@robokill3872 ай бұрын
It means exactly what he said. 1 kilocalorie = 1000 calories EXCEPT in the American food industry where 1 kilocalorie = 1 calorie. Because Americans are allergic to measurements that make sense.

so basically for example 71Kcal = 71000 cal because you said cal 1g and Kcal 1kg(1000g)!?

@apprenticemath2 жыл бұрын
Food industry feels they are entitled to confuse consumers and hide everything. Water in ingredients is disguised as ...aqua..., fat/oil/grease is creatively marketed is lipid, lipo ... etc. Sugars are concealed as syrup, fructose, glucose, maltose, ...-ose. There are lots of cute people in the legal departments of food manufacturers.

it says i burned 76kcal on my watch is kcal=1 calorie?
Indeed I mean you can't eat any non flammable substances and gain nutrition from them can you? I mean bromine, steel, clay, quartz are not edible. Now mind you this isn't necessarily a measure of human edibility wood burns and can be eaten by certain animals but our bodies cannot handle it. It does contain calories though.

1 Calorie = 1kg water raised by 1°C 1 calorie = 1 gm water raised by 1°C 1000 calorie , i.e 1kcal = 1000gm water raised by 1°C So , 1000cal = 1kcal = 1 Cal So, c ≠ C but in the food industry they often don't pay heed , ending up using "C" or "c" for kcal.

That's right, they enjoy their self-righteous privileges, mask liquid sugar and water with fancy names, change the base of percent calculations if it suits them (2what% milk), etc.
