Loved your explanation! I would like to know the approximate brew ratio of a long black. Though I have a Breville Barista Express, and have been enjoying making (what I think is) long blacks every morning, I would like to hear what the proper ratio is. Thanks!

i always thought long black was cold water. makes sense that when you wake up you fill your cup with cold water, drink half of it, then pour your espresso on top so it's cold enough to be drinkable right away.

it would taste different because with the long black, the esspresso is essentially floating on top, whereas with the americano the esspresso is mixed with the water.

I really like your great explanation but, i would like to draw your attention to my opinion and concern. Overtime, i have always believed Americano is hot water then espresso directly over it while, long black is the reverse case. I really got confused a bit but, i will have to make my findings and if yours is correct then i have to go by it 🙏

Sort of - but I understood that the Long black or Cafe longo was made by running the expresso maker for longer than a normal expresso, but with the same amount of ground coffee , so that a more full flavour made it into the larger coffee cup.

Caffe Lungo is not the same as Long Black. Lungo is a long pulled espresso. Long Black is as described in the video.

i read before, 2shot with 3-4oz hot water. but the measurement is considered to be flexible to individual taste.

Oh black coffee is most definitely my thing. Cannot stand stuff added to coffee. To me when you add sugar, creamer or any flavoring you mess up the truth taste of the coffee
