I love being a correctional deputy. Not everyone can do our job. $110k this past year isn't bad for "babysitting"

Make no mistake about this one, which is that being a correctional officer is a calling, and the only good reason there is for someone to want to do this, is because they want to make a difference in lives of other people for an extremely good reason, and an extremely important purpose, which involves being open to knowing what the facts are involving the needs of other people!

I can tell, you’re very well trained. Most do not take the training seriously. You have integrity, respect, and ambition.

Like mentioned in the video, it definitely pays to have good communication skills. I do my best to treat the guys on my unit fairly, and it usually has a positive effect. Having a units respect means; fast lock ups, warnings before incidents take place, and even support from the unit if a new intake gets lippy. I love my job, and it's a great step before policing, which is my goal. Thanks for the video and the supportive words! I've always wanted to be a cop, and I feel this is a great step.

I have enjoyed s life working in both! Whether one uses corrections as a “stepping stone” or as a career in and of itself , it’s definitely a job to be proud of.

I just realized something. Looks like the further away from city jobs, the better being a CO is. I worked in NYC. It's not a liked or respected job.
