You know, it's been awhile since I've had an animal conservationist/educational person who I enjoy watching on a regular basis. Honestly, the last one was Steve Irwin. And it makes me happy to have these videos. I've always loved animals (contemplated going into a career with them myself for several years before I realized I wasn't built for that kind of stress), so I love having someone I can watch who clearly loves animals and loves sharing information about those animals. It's amazing, and I look forward to what Jessi's gonna say every time a video is posted.

Hey! I'm just curious, may I know who actually set the minimal number of presentation each animal had to complete. Why would they have to complete these ?
@apothocareon752110 жыл бұрын
I've come across an infant squirrel. I took care of one last year and he's still doing great. He integrated well with the current squirrels in the yard and is now part of that neighborhood community of dog and cat teasers. Last year I had much more time on my hands as I hadn't had an official job, and could care and feed and work with him much more than this second baby. As I work roughly more than 30 hours a week now, I bairly have time to feed this one and he ends up sleeping most of the day. I know sleep is important for him to grow, but I also understand he needs to be active in order to grow properly. Do you know any place I could take him? I'm in the southern half of Louisiana. I know most vets will not take care of baby squirrels and animal shelters wouldn't know what to do with him.....I'm a bit stuck, but trying to feed the kit as much as he'll eat.

@animalwondersmontana10 жыл бұрын
I have some footage of the progress. But, of course, the I wouldn't be filming when the biggest breakthroughs were made. Except we got really lucky and had a HUGE breakthrough while Caitlin was there and also filming, and you luckily got to see it in the video! Taking a treat from my fingers while perched on my hand is absolutely amazing!! I should have made a bigger point of that in the video.
@Trampflick10 жыл бұрын
Hello, great video's and I personally love what you do. I'm in the midst of my B.Sc, and I want to strengthen my ability to communicate (understand body language and what to do) with different species. I only innately understand canines and cat behavior, but cannot understand bird behavior. What methods do you use to 'learn' a species body language/call's? Also, did you specialize in Animal Biology...what would you recommend to take in post secondary to interact with wildlife professionally...perhaps to research behavior?
@animalwondersmontana10 жыл бұрын
Birds are very different than humans in how they use body language to communicate and they aren't as common in our everyday lives as dogs and cats, so it's more difficult to learn how to read them. I personally find that I innately know what they are communicating to me, but that didn't stop me from learning as much as I could. I watched a lot of interactions between birds and between other humans and birds. For years I was on formus for pet bird owners and listened to hundreds of stories of different scenarios. I read accounts of their species' behavior in textbooks and scientific journals and then saw the behaviors expressed in real life. I worked hands on with new species and sort of just "felt them out". When assessing a new bird I progress our relationship very slowly. There's no rush to establishing trust. Some birds communicate differently than the books tell me they should, so watching for their own personality is always fun!
@Trampflick10 жыл бұрын
AnimalWonders Montana Alright, I'll keep that in mind, research behaviour and interactions and mimic with patience to find what works. Thanks for replying.

How do you tell the difference between ravens and crows? I live in Southern California and have always wondered this, but never found a definite answer.
@ladycreedrain72610 жыл бұрын
Ravens have a more robust bill than crows, and a pointed/tapered tail whereas crows have a squared off tail. Also, ravens have a more raspy or gravely call than crows. Sometimes you can also tell by size, ravens are a little larger than crows. Hope that helps!

Loved the video; it's inspiring to see how you can make this work and do something great in this world. It makes me want to follow my own dreams (building robots for the sake of robots), gives me hope that they can succeed. As a suggestion, you should add webcams for the animals, so we who kind of feel we have a faint relation to the animals, Kemosabe, lollipop etc., can check in on them live. Simple webcams are extremely cheep nowadays and also come as without infrared filters, so they work for night vision if you add an infrared light source.
