Superb! Really appreciate getting your take on the build quality. Threaded inserts and machine screws are much better than fasteners that screw right into the plastic, too. How difficult would it be to replace the battery ? They say they will last 500 cycles. So, if I used it alot, a $600 tool would only last 2 years.
@LoveYourRV4 жыл бұрын
It doesn't look too hard if they will sell you one, or you could source it. But the cost would likely make it not worth it, the battery is the most costly thing in there by far I imagine. They say guaranteed 500 or more complete 100% charge-discharge cycles, so if you only use 30% then charge it doesn't completely count as a cycle, also it wouldn't be completely useless, usually, that means it has degraded to 80% capacity. That is generally how lithium warranties are rated. Of course, this is all promises, time will tell in a few years how they really perform. Cheers, Ray

I use 21 volt 5s packs with bms sometimes with solar panels and place them outside to charge the packs straight off the panel. inside i use a boost buck combo converter to feed/charge whatever I need from the 21 volt batteries. Ray, You missed a couple of negative issues. One, the fuse is deep inside the unit, so disassembly is required, Warrenty? Two the unit is not easily repaired as ALL of the components are surface mounted. This means much more equipment is required to replace any part, maybe even the large plugs. Still a great video!
@LoveYourRV5 жыл бұрын
Thanks, by the looks of it the large amperage fuses inside, are basically catastrophic failsafe fuses, just in case the regular built-in auto-shutdown safety circuits don't work right. I see them as an extra layer of defense and not meant to be user-replaceable. If those fail there are big problems that will need to be repaired anyway. Warranty of these units is 24 months. Surface mount and multilayer PCBs is the way most boards are done nowadays days. So I can't fault that kind of build. I also imagine they went that way to reduce size and cost. With modern hot air solder stations and vacuum pump desolder tools, that aren't that expensive now, they aren't too hard to work on. Most electronic repair techs are going to have such tools. Cheers, Ray

Hi, I've got a Harmon Kardon Citation 11 & 12 Amp and PreAmp set up on my home stereo system. I think they are from the late 1970's or very early 1980's. Anyway, I have had the system since the late 1990's. Sometimes when I turn the stereo on, there is an audible hum in the right channel speaker and static or even a loud popping in the left channel speaker. The problem is even more pronounced when it is raining and very humid out. The vintage stereo store near me has bad Yelp reviews so I haven't taken it there. Do you have any insight into the problem and where I can get it fixed? Thanks, liked the video.
@LoveYourRV5 жыл бұрын
Nice stuff. :) Usually, on the old vintage equipment, the two common issues are cracked solder connections and dried out electrolytic capacitors. When I worked out them to restore I would almost always replace most of the electrolytic capacitors and resolder the boards. Most problems would go away and the operation would improve. Your faults could be from those things or maybe intermittent transistors. Sometimes when a transistor in a preamp or amp circuit starts to fail it will do so intermittently and be affected by heating or cooling. Humming and pops were a symptom. Dirty controls can sometimes don it too. You could try a spray cleaner. A good one is MG Chemicals Eletrosolve - amzn.to/2LHpW2B It's a zero residue contact cleaner and won't hurt plastics. Sorry, I don't know where you would take it, you need a tech that can troubleshoot and work to a component level and they are a dying breed. Most modern techs these days are just swapping out modules and boards. Cheers, Ray

Makita DF030D amzn.to/2YddtXd makita.ca/index2.php?event=tool&id=706&event=tool&id=706 It's an old model now I imagine, I've had it for at least 15 years or so :) The bit set isn't Makita, it's just a cheap set called Everybit but has a bunch of tamperproof ones - www.tekton.com/everybit-ratchet-screwdriver-and-bit-set-2841

How much does it cost?
@LoveYourRV5 жыл бұрын
Retail is $499 but they already have been discounting it for $399 sale price, though it did sell out, so they have been having stocking problems, its a new model that was just launched recently.

Ray i cant understand with all the great vidioes you do that you still dont use a camera stand small to do the vidio and use one hand that shakes alot times i mean ray they not expensive love what you did by showing the inside i hope you follow up with useing it in action
@LoveYourRV5 жыл бұрын
I do use a stand sometimes but usually, prefer not to, just my own preference. I have shown it in action, this is a follow up to that video, see previous video - kzbin.info/www/bejne/npOop3V6nd2HhaM Cheers, Ray

How can I take the unit on a plane. Let me know.
@LoveYourRV3 жыл бұрын
I had a look at the Jackery FAQ and this is what it says: Unfortunately, you can't. Under FAA regulations you are not allowed to take any battery exceeding 100Wh on a plane.

I wonder if it would run a CPap machine overnight.
@LoveYourRV5 жыл бұрын
From what people are telling me CPAP machines can vary in power draw from 27W to about 60W, so run time would vary from 19 hours to 8.6 likely more if the machine was cycling on and off. I heard from one person that he usually sees abut 4 nights from on battery.

@@LoveYourRV thanks for the information Ray, it is truly appreciated.

I get 3 nights CPAP usage with mine and still have 10-15% power left. I don’t use humidifier/heater.

Can the average person replace the batteries.?
@LoveYourRV3 жыл бұрын
It doesn't look very user serviceable and the battery pack would be hard to source I imagine.
@fliipixel57194 жыл бұрын
I really only wanted to see what the batteries look like and if they are replaceable after they die. That is the one part you didn't show!
@LoveYourRV4 жыл бұрын
You can see the two battery packs stacked together. You could replace them if you can source the the battery packs, but likely they are proprietary, also you'd need to be able to unsolder and solder the large wire leads onto the main power board. Best though to send it back to Jackery, let them do it, unless you really know what you are doing. Cheers, Ray

I was just wondering why they die so fast. Sadly no objective info here.
@LoveYourRV3 жыл бұрын
Sorry I wasn't addressing that question in the video just showing what's inside. I'm sure they die for all sorts of different reasons. Failed battery packs, cracked solder connections, failed switches, faulty wiring, blown fuses, dud electronic components, etc.

who cares if you hade 25 years of repair. if you are carious then take it apart you never learn if you dont. i dont have 25years and i take all my shit apart and it still works.

I just warn people so they can't come back and blame me if they break their shit or injure themselves. Not everyone watching KZbin is as smart as you so I avoid encouraging them.

Got into the tech mode. :) Was repairing an ADS 10 Acoustic Sybtherzer for friend prior. Looks like this www.ebay.com/itm/ADS-Model-10-A-Digital-Time-Delay-System-Rack-Acoustic-Dimension-Synthesizer-/113698003224
Mine after 4 months decided to stop running, when it is charging in the wall it stays on, soon as I unplug it it fades out
@LoveYourRV2 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a battery or charger failure. Should still be under warranty
