It should also be noted that when Rob bought this car in 2011, it was at the absolute bottom that the Diablo market ever reached. The car has nearly tripled in value since he bought it.

As Ed said the car has nearly tripled in value. I'd say he did very good overall, when did you gain that much value from a car deal or even from stocks ? He was trying to finance a car he barely could afford, ofc he should have stopped when he was $50k up. However if you make that much money in ONE day i'm sure that it's very easy to think that you can recreate that in day 2.

Rob, I feel your pain mate. I've never done it in such an expensive car but have twice in my almost 20 years of teaching drifting had that moment where you miss judge the steering lock of a car you're not used to and all of the sudden the car takes over and you are instantly going backwards, looking out the back window, hand on the back of the passenger seat like you are about to do a pro reversing move, all the while apologizing to the passenger/owner of the car and promising them you are going to fix their car way before you even come to stop completely unscathed. I have taught a few dozen people how drift their vehicles using my local tracks, industrial areas and back roads. That 1 or 2 times you get it wrong in other people's cars (or a new purchase for yourself) seems to be what people are judged on even though they did no damage and haven't done in the last 20+years of doing it. It doesn't matter what other people say about it, you didn't die, you didn't total it, it's all good.

How much you can see his emotion when he describes the top speed, and hitting those top speeds, that is what driving is about sometimes. It's not a thing that is easily describable. You can see it in his mannerisms, his eyes, the sound of his voice. This was a great video for anybody who really understands and enjoys those aspects of driving.

Funny that’s exactly how I felt when I spun my crown Victoria, I’ve been driving civics and accords all my life and knew fwd was a whole different ball park from rwd... so I get the vic... and after about 6 days of ownership my neighbor (also a car enthusiast) wanted a ride in it... so it’s me him and his girlfriend driving this tank with a couple mods in the rain... we get around the corner and the rear end just kicccckkkkks out. Mind you were only doing 15-20mph. I tried to correct it ended up over correcting and spun it 180 onto a curb... broke the axle cracked the rim... I didn’t care about the car because it could be fixed... I was just so embarrassed and apologetic toward my neighbor and his girlfriend for spinning it with them in the car... even when I see them today I still feel bad for it...

Cars show that in a physical form of love you can't normally see. Another one of my favorites the moral here today is do not let anything even crashing your dream you worked towards stop you from still enjoying that exact dream still!!!!! Thank you for your help Rob you dont realize the impact that drive has and shows others that yes its possible even when you mess up the exact goal it never goes away its still the same end goal. I remember being told by a police advanced instructor telling me about the problems most drivers have with any kind of spin -which is, even though most of us know and understand about countersteering and turning INTO the slide, the SINGLE MOST common mistake people make as the sliding wheels begin to regain traction and grip, that THEN is the time when you should IMMEDIATELY unwind your opposite lock and countersteering! If you don't do this VERY rapidly, the car will instantly throw you into a spin the OPPOSITE way - the pendulum effect. He finished by saying this is what happens in 70-90% of accidents involving spins that he's called to!!

I’ve been waiting for this video for years. As soon as I figured out Rob bought the Diablo from Ed.

this was hard to watch. the dudes life is like a rollercoaster. incredible highs and devastatin lows. i couldnt handle that much loss. my money goes into the bank and stays there. never ever bought a lotto ticket or gambled a single cent and never will. the mere thought of putting my hard earned cash on the line terrifies me. sinking all that money into one single object. and incredibly delicate object. a risky object. a crashable object. i would have to be a multimillionaire to be willing to own a car a quarter of that value. i can respect his life choices though. i mean look at where its gotten him, he has achieved great things. that awd rx7 is an absolute work of art.

Once you crash your car you are no longer worried about really enjoying it as it’s already ruined.

As soon as I saw the car, I instantly know it is Rob’s (or was?). That was the first Rob Dahm video I saw. The one in which he explained how he obtained his yellow Diablo.

The videos of some regular schmo buying a Lambo and then wrecking it are my earliest KZbin memories. Probably the first video I watched.
