If you’re going anyway, I do recommend bringing your bike for sure!

Thank you for making a good video of Korea~

if you do the 4 rivers route, that would be epic.
@eto23525 ай бұрын
did you get to ride Bugaksan and Namsan loop? It's called "nambuk" and goes past the King's Palace and President's house. Namhansan mountain is also a great climb.
@JohnnyZeeLee5 ай бұрын
Yes I did exactly that! All of them are nice climbs. A bit short though

Hey Johnny, Welcome to Korea though I'm not living there anymore and glad to hear you also has Korean background(I didn't wanted to assume since many countries has the last name of Lee, so pardon me). It's really refreshing to see a perspective of the non touring cyclist who's not local. Yeah, Seoul definitely doesn't have epic ride to offer. Bike lanes are built to consider regular folks as well. That's one of the main reason you won't get something epic out of bike lanes. Also, yeah I get that it's difficult to get on the regular road with the cars. Even as Korean myself, I totally agree and understand. You really have to know the road. This is partially due to good bike lanes ironically. Since the bike lane connects so many places together, people expect you to stay there. Plus, drivers are not crazy but they're not use to driving with cyclist which can be a risk as a cyclist. So yeah, it's a good move to ride together with the locals. Have fun and keep safe as well.

I agree. It’s not like the drivers are crazy but I do feel they’re just not used to sharing the road with bikes
@jasonloke22195 ай бұрын
Thanks for sharing. Obviously you are not going to do the 4-River ride any time soon. I did it last year on a folding bike.
@JohnnyZeeLee5 ай бұрын
No. I wouldn’t mind going back to some bikepacking in Korea but I would try to find a route through the mountains

Awesome video, thx a lot! I will come to Seoul late august, can you advise me your top-3 routes in Seoul? Around 100km each. And some of you favourite coffee and food spots! Thx a lot!
@JohnnyZeeLee3 ай бұрын
If you’re looking for routes in Seoul, you have to figure that out on your own since the city is really big and I don’t know where you’re staying. Plus I have no idea what kind of riding you’re looking for. Check out my Strava for some ideas. Favourite coffee - Camel Coffee Dosan, Anthracite, Protokoll Roasters Food - honestly almost any place with bbq is gonna be good. They’re everywhere. maps.app.goo.gl/2zDTbn9jhaJpS96k9?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy This is also good.

@@JohnnyZeeLee Thx a lot! I am asked about the routes cose I have similar preferences as you are: fast tempo rides *)

Thx for video. Have you seen any shops renting proper road bikes? There for a week next week and would love to avoid bringing my own bike.
@JohnnyZeeLee5 ай бұрын
Unfortunately I didn’t see any shops with rentals. There is always Rapha but you need to be a member.

hey man, thanks for the vid. I am moving to seoul for work, and i was worried about how cycling will be. Where do I find the cycling path network map to plan my routes?
@JohnnyZeeLee3 ай бұрын
I don’t know where to find a network map but if you plan your route on Strava, it will prioritize the bike lanes. I also think once you’re there and you see how things work, you’ll be able to figure out the best ways to get around.

Interesting video. Doesn’t it feel awkward doing a group ride with a language barrier?
@JohnnyZeeLee5 ай бұрын
Yes it is kind of awkward but like I was mentioning, I still think it would be better to join a few of the local rides just to get used to the roads

I'm starting to wonder how many different Han Rivers there are in Asia. I've already heard of a handful of different Han rivers and so far like 25% of all the rivers I know the name of in Asia are a Han River.

Hmmm I don’t know of any other river by that name

Rapha and PNS both have rides. Best to visit their shops for info on rides. PNS has a Strava group where they post all their rides as well.

Lot of turns on that bike lane without visibility. People walking.. running.. on the wrong side of the path.. Definitely not a safe place to ride at a decent speed.
@JohnnyZeeLee5 ай бұрын
I think the section in the video wasn’t the best example but the network of bike lanes is really vast. The are long segments that have less people and greater visibility. Also better to do it with locals because they will be constantly communicating with other people on the path
