There's been lots of rumours and speculation around Warhammer 3's lifespan and if it's ending sooner than thought I want to add in my thoughts to this as I believe that yes we don't have many DLC's left I've stated this before HOWEVER I feel like that could change. Let's talk.

TLDR I believe the rumours of 4-6 DLCs left however CA have changed scope before and can change it once again. We've seen it with Warhammer 3 and Rome 2 so in theory if TOD ends up being good and it starts selling like the Chaos Dwarf DLC did then I imagine we'll see plans change and more content being added at least until TW 40K is up and running

It is so sad that the suits do not understand that immediate sales means lower revenue than long-term sales. What i mean by this is, if you make a shit DLC, some people will buy it sooner as opposed to making a good DLC (which takes longer) and not only would more people buy the DLC, but they would have sale for a longer time, since people who are not convinced might change their minds. This is Marketing 101, bruh, but what do I know, I'm a mere accountant...

Could be an interesting idea. If the corruption of an area gets to 100, a portal to that realm opens, and then you can try and solve it. Complete the realm to either win big favor and reqards for chaos factions or give a big debuff or damage to chaos factions as an order faction

This series has single-handedly introduced me to the world of Warhammer and I would never have become a fan without it. So I want to see as much as possible getting put into this game. There's still so much I want that hasn't been added. I want a proper faction mechanic for older factions like Vlad/Isabella, Ghorst, Karl, Mazdamundi, Tyrion, Malekith, and all the others who got left behind by the power creep, I want missing characters who have all but been confirmed like Neferata, Nagash, Toddy, Thanquol. I want a solid DLC for each Chaos faction (except maybe Beastmen and WoC since they're in good spots right now) and that includes Slaanesh and Khorne, I'd even go so far as to say the Changeling campaign kinda sucks because there's no real threat and you can't hold your own land so Tzeentch should get another lord as well. I know there has to be an end sonewhere, but I don't want to see it for a long time

Same. But one of the devs came out and and said they won't be doing CoC type content anymore. I guess not everyone enjoys playing chaos and thus not buying the DLC. My dad almost plays order factions exclusively and has left a lot of chaos LL's untouched despite having 4000 hours in the series. He'd rather just play Karl Franz again.

Vampire counts are never going to get the full attention they deserve unless they go absolutely ham with how they introduce Nagash as part of the last DLCs to the game and include them with that. On the bright side, though, their roster is mostly fine its just the complete and total lack of SO many legendary lords and campaign reworks that need to be added. Beastmen kinda have that same issue of having like a half dozen potential legendary lords that people want to see so how do you manage that other than just have exclusively legendary lord based DLCs?

Race packs are pretty much never coming. They still have 2/3rds of the races to cover from EACH game of the trilogy to add that all need help before they can even consider adding more races that don't feel complete.

Players love seeing the world expand with new exotic locations and races that have barely been mentioned in the official lore, as you can kind of see from the success of the chaos dwarves. Until we get an official statement saying otherwise, I’m going to take one last gigantic huff of hopium that CA can turn this game around and turn it into the financial success that the first 2 games were. Lest we forget how Total War basically brought Warhammer Fantasy back from the dead. If they can do it once they can do it again.

As today TwZh3 has more than 20K player which is the same number TwWh2 used to have in periods like this one, so I don't think they're bleeding players or the situation is that bad. CA just needs to put its shit together and the community will respond.

Problem is that for a company with stocks, being stable is not enough. Without growth, stocks are valueless. It's the big problem in the entire industry (and a lot more industries). Things grow until they saturate, and once saturated there is no growth potential and it just dies due to doing stuff to try and keep growing even though they can't, and kill it in the process. That's how most industries go. Really only some very old and established industries can get away with a lack of growth and are either private companies or have a high dividend payout, so people don't buy the stock for growth. That's just how the economy works, either grow fast or die. There's nothing in-between.

It is bittersweet to me to have Ind and Khuresh turned into Araby 2.0. While I do think these landmasses(and the north of Cathay/Korea) really need to be opened up in order to give Cathay a challenge, I wish they would make at least 1 new race to add to these lands in order to flavor it.

I think Monkey king will add Tigermen. So they could probs throw in some Cathay placeholders in Ind with them. Dogs of war could have some Khuresh lords so maybe that could also get those characters. Better than nothing

Yeah, I don't see how CA is going to support Warhammer 3 and 40k, as well as a historical game at the same time, especially after they went through layoffs. Mind you, 40k is not going to be out soon, but when 40k releases, you can bet they will move all of their Warhammer resources towards that.

That's the current structure. I highly doubt 40k is coming out before 2026 (I could be wrong there, but there has been no info at all yet other than some wild rumours, at least that I've heard off, and CA is pretty well known for their big marketing pushes, so Q4 of 2025 at the earliest I think). Who knows what the gaming landscape looks like by then. It should have been long enough then that the post covid bust (which is really just a return to normal) is over, so I don't fundamentally see why they couldn't coexist together. I mean they only have an historical and a fantasy team currently with their current structure, there's no real reason that should stay the same. Most companies are either reorganising, just reorganised or will reorganise soon. The fantasy division didn't exist before Warhammer either.

With CA's latest decision to cut the DLC in three parts and allowing players to buy what they want, I reckon the new format of DLC will be just one faction (1 LL, one legendary hero, 1 lord, 1 hero and a few units) so basically one third of a Shadows of Change and Thrones of Decay. That would allow them to focus on just one faction, better develop it, produce dlcs faster and more regularly.

Except Modders fail in one regard: New Factions (starpo stuff) is desync hell for any multiplayer stuff..I love me the TEB mod from Cataph but the game says “fuck you” any time you try to use Mixu’s or any unlocker.

Because too many mods breaks the game. And I think Ind and Khuresh at least are the ones most deserving a fleshed official faction (plus the Southern Realms, which if CA is smart, can portray them uniquely in Dogs of War)

As a bare minimum they gotta do Norscan + vampire counts update, Nagash and Thanquol. More ideal would be that + a race pack(Ind or Dogs of war), lizardmen, ogre kingdoms and brettonia update and end times mechanics. Better would be that + more race packs (Ind, Dogs of war, Araby, Nippon, Hobgoblin Khanate). Hopefully ToD dlc will be good and sell well and incentivize them to make more. I think a part of the reason why Shadows of Change didnt sell so well isnt only because it was severely overpriced but it had races that arent very popular. ToD have Dwarfs and Empire which are two of the most popular races, Nurgle is pretty popular too.

Gods I hope they open up Ind and Khuresh. It'll feel so disappointing to have a large chunk of land there but grayed out. I also really really really want a Championship of Chaos style DLC for Vampires. They're missing some units and key Legendary Lords, and the distinction of the different vampirc bloodlines needs to be brought home more. Currently, they all feel just like Von Carstine Vampires. I will rage against the world if I don't get Neferata, or if we do but she ends up feeling just like another Von Carstine. I'd like to see Nagash as a counter point to Archion/Daniel the big bad of the Undead that can unite and vasalise them all. Lastly I want more Ogres. The missing units and some helpful for that faction as they suck to play right now. Which is a shame. Beyond that I don't care.

Dogs of War is long overdue. A (loosely) Order-aligned horde faction, preferrably using an undercity/cult mechanic for setting themselves up in allied/client territory rather than capturing swathes of territory themselves. It would be a perfect time to do seperate Tilean/Estalian/Border Prince factions as well. There, that's a whole major release.

I don't think that will happen if its true that they are working on a new engine. Its just way too much work just for selling a couple more dlc. Updating warhammer fantasy to the new egine is also unlikely for the same reason. Best case scenario is them updating the documentation and fixing most of the biggest issues.

Think about that for a moment. You want them to spend a ton of resource to fix the back end, of which the average player sees or understands very little, at the very end of the trilogy's lifecycle so that the remaining 5? DLC sell.. 50% more? The reality is, i suspect CA will simply make the decision that it would take too much investment to get this back to where it was and they're better off putting that resource into a new project. Expect bad-ok DLC as before with a few finishing touches, more bugs and nothing more.

So off top of my head things left: Dogs of war, Nagash, Ind, Nippon, Khursh. Kinda hoping for Arbaal & Dechala. Arbaals probably most likely out of the 2 but even then I see Skulltaker taking the slot if they only do 1 for Khorne (would be nice to see both). A rework of DE slave mechanics would be nice, especially when you see how great it is for Chaos Dwarves. Making the Red Duke a playable campaign LL also, 1 would assume he'd be a mix of Bret and Vamp. Thanq and Verminlords for Skaven. There's probably more units for some races but all I can think of. If it's only 4 dlcs left I can't see them covering all of this. From what I hear some dlc is mostly done so I guess it depends if they count that in the 4 or separate. You'd expect Khorne & Slaanesh to get dlcs, then Nagash and Dogs of War seem like no brainers as Nagash is a main thing and Dogs they've done some of the work and the units themselves probably don't need as much texture work as a whole new faction like Nippon (unless CA can reuse Shogun skins)

The free hero we get from the skulls event is an FLC not a DLC, so the 4 DLC's that we get (assuming its only 4) won't include that.

Might be hoping against the impossible but my wish is the MK (and Li Dao) pack brings Ind and Khuresh (actual Ind and Khuresh factions, not Cathayan "placeholders") with it. Would be a good surprise for the community after SoC (I hope Thrones is real solid as well for the Empire, Dwarves and Nurgle players).

I'd be curious how they implement the Snakemen of Khuresh as Lizardmen. Would be a good way to boost the Lizardmen. All of that would be great additions and satisfy most (if implemented correctly) of the fanbase, I feel.

I'm hoping that the new LL for Tzeentch would be Galrauch and Egrimm van Horstmann (also hoping we might get some sort of reference to Tchar'zanek). For Khorne it would be Ka'Bandha, Karanak, Arbaal the Undefeated and possibly Mardagg (Urlfdaemonkin or Abrax the Bloody for Norsca). For Slaanesh it would be Masque of Slaanesh and Dechala. For Nurgle it would be Gutrot Spume (just because the Plague Fleets is such an awesome concept), Epidemius, Tamurkhan, The Glottkin and Valnir the Reaper.

My assumption with the layoffs will be 2 or 3 packs after decay. 1 for slaanesh and maybe monkey king plus random and the other for khorne, nagash, and maybe updated archaon for end times if it is only 2. If it is 3 and end times gets its own pack with nagash and updated archaon then we might get ind and/or nippon along with dogs of war to fill out the map as it stands. I think sales of decay may determine if we get 2 or 3 remaining packs. If we get 4+ that would be great and I am sure there has been discussion amongst the execs about that being a viable path, but ultimately the amount of cash and manpower this game gets before they walk away will be directly linked to sales and it remains to be seen how harshly they damaged their good will with that last pack. Time will tell and I will personally keep my fingers crossed for more content as I have a literal thousand plus hours in this game.

I myself am ready for factions to be asymmetrical when it comes to LLs. Cathay is huge in IE am I am excited for more Cathay stuff. Lastly map packs (Ind & Khuresh) are fine by me. If I had to choose one or the other, just a map expansion dlc. Maybe 1-2 Ind/khuresh merc unit for something.

I think it is possible that right now CA has a maximum budget to recover the profits it had with TW: Warhammer and that this reduces the planned content in the short term but if this is true it would make sense for them to go all out and start bringing the content they want to make sure reaches the final product in case the tap is turned off. In this aspect it would make sense for us to see (condensing to fulfill the rumors of 5-6 DLCs and the return to the classic DLC style) Skulltaker (LL FLC for Skull day) Slannesh (Dechala) vs High Elfs (Aislinn + Caradryan (LH)) + Shadowblade/Masque of Slannesh + update for Morathi's campaign (she will be able to recruit the chaos elves that the Dechala DLC will bring). Khorne (Arbaal + Scyla/Karanak) vs Vampires (Neferata + Konrad (LH)) + Zacharias and Red Duke rework (moves to Arabia). Personally I think that Zacharias has more mechanical juice (necrach laboratory) to represent the vampires in the DLC but Neferata is much more popular. Skaven (Thanquol) vs Cathay (Monkey King) + Fire Dragon of Cathay. Dogs of War + Golgfag. Undead Legions + Gashnag/Ushoran or, for Cathayan completism, Marine dragon of Cathay + ruler of legions mechanic. If they bring all of the above they should get out of the hole (with the Warhammer community at least, the rest of CA is drowning burning money on half-made historical games) so we could expect to see: Cathay(Marine dragon) vs Nurgle (Gutrot Spume + Morbidex Twiceborn (LH)) + Sayl the Faithless. Dark Elfs (Tullaris) vs Khorne (Skarr Bloodwrath) + Egrimm van Horstmann. Empire (Emil Valgeir) vs Greenskins (Snagla Grobspit) + Ghorros Warhoof + Boris Todbringer rework. Norsca (Beorg Bearstruck) vs Bretonia (Beastslayer) + Black Knight. Bugman(White Dwarf promotion) Scyla/Karanak (LH FLC for Skull day) Kuresh Ind.

I don't understand how a company with hundreds of employees get outproduced by modders. We should have dozens of DLCs if they put in the same effort as individual modders. Have they hired soo many inept employees that do nothing but busywork to validate their existence. Hopefully these firings will trim the fat like what happened at twitter. It still amazes me that over half the people in that campany was gutted yet it did not effect performance after the initial shock.

Personally i'm the opinion that they should change the scale of the conflict. Instead of going all encompassing campaign, which they alreadu did, they should dial it down and zoom in on the map and focus on few races. Kinda like an Empire campaign where you focus mainly around empire borders. Or like the wood elf campaign focused on athel loren. That kind of content.

I worry that characters like The Glottkin and Gutrot Spume will not be added to The End Times, as GW will want them attached to AOS. I would love (especially The Glottkin), but as these characters are models in AOS. I Think back at the Chaos Dwarfs release and remember GW didn't want CA to use the Taurus lord, also because they have plans with him for AOS. I worry similar issues will happen with the End Times characters now "used" in AOS.

I would absolutely love to see more Cathy content. We know that the world ended with Arhcaon's invasion of the Empire. But who invaded Cathy, and who died defending it? There's a whole storyline we know little about, and it would be awesome to see CA and GW work on it together.

I want to see Norsca actually give them some love and separate them from the Warriors of Chaos so they can truly be their own thing unlike in tabletop. Give was more Norscan clans to play as. Maybe even give us the Steppe people like Kurgans and Hung from the Great Steppes as their own pure horde faction similar to the Beastmen but taken its own way.

For next DLC I'd imagine Khorne, it should generate most profits I think. Add Norsca as the second race along with a FLC lord; since love for Norsca is long overdue. Third choice is hard to tell, VC seem like an often request, though I personally think Ogre Kingdoms need some additional work as well, after playing them once I didn't find them fun as they are now.

I know some people don't like mods and want official updates, but as long as we have the Extended Factions map that adds Ind, Khuresh, Nippon, etc., I'm good on that front. You KNOW people are making faction mods for them (we know of Nippon mod, for instance). I'm just hoping modders can learn how to use the rift mechanics, so maybe we can get a dungeon-styled mini RoC in the top right corner of the map. Can't walk around, you just get an army teleported there (whenever rifts show up on rare occasion) and fight a quest battle for god-appropriate rewards (with said quest battle on Legendary, no matter you're game's difficulty setting).

My thoughts Race packs probably sell better than Lord packs/can be better monetized. Therefore I think the next dlc will be a race pack. Of the possible race packs I think either the dogs of West or Ind would be the most likely. I could see the monkey King coming as part of Ind

I think Thrones will sell well because of the races involved with it and the race-specific buys; the issue is, CA upper management (Who are setting the tune here) are clearly clueless about what kind of DLC the playerbase want. So while Thrones selling well might have an influence on the lifespan of the game CA plans, it won't have any influence at all on what type of DLC we see. The Empire and Dwarf DLCs could sell bucketloads, for instance, and us not see any more Empire content. The Chorfs sold insanely well because they were the Chorfs; only to CA will that have come as a surprise.

Imo the Dogs of War did turn out to be an accidental leak; they could've been prototyping the DoW subfaction and testing things prior to all the layoffs etc. and some of the code snuck into the patch. It has been over a decade, but weren't there a bunch of cool CoD things that were datamined during 7th-gen that people thought were going to lead to zombie DLC and the like? MW3 was supposed to have Special Ops DLC supposedly? But all that turned out to just be cool ideas that were scrapped for one reason or another. I hope to see DoW and Ind added as "culture packs" or whatever, mini-race packs like the Tomb Kings and Vamp Coast, but it's not looking likely at this rate. We need 1 DLC per chaos god and 2 DLCs for Kislev/Cathay at minimum, so I think everything is already accounted for if they do decide to release some sort of "sunsetting" End Times DLC as the last pack or a 2-part pack. Fingers crossed that things turn around for WH3 and we get a little more than expected by the time everything is released.

If the next update is Slaanesh/Dark Elves/High Elves, then my suspicion is that there will possibly be a Khorne/Bretonnia/Wood Elves expansion followed by a balance/bugfix pass and that will probably be it for twwh3. Unfortunately, because I would like to see a lot more too, but I fear the resources won't be there to do much more to it.
