Also if you add the names of the materials you mention in text format on the video, that would be extremely helpful. A lot of the names of the materials can be hard to spell and search for if we are just going off your pronunciation.

Do you have any recommendations for starter kits? Not like scales stuff like that I still have most of my glassware, beakers, decants etc. when i moved i had to dump all my fragrance oils, had quite a bit.. some htf stuff now too. Do you have a start up recommendation? Btw i used to just use vodka for most of my projects.. because there was a liquor store that was selling them at the wrong price, so i stocked up. Worked well

I am very interested in your opinion about the materials, but we have a big problem with translation, I am not an English speaker and I have to use KZbin subtitles, only it doesn't translate technically ... It allows you to edit youtube to write every time what substance is it? We would be grateful

Thanks for yet another nice video. I was wondering: I can't buy any synthetic Ambergris materials in the Netherlands so I was wondering: would a blend of e.g. Cetalox (or Ambroxan) and Ambermax (haven't got Ambermax yet) be a possibility to try to approach the scent of such materials?

The Ambroxan is going to be closer than cetalox. It is the closest to the two different ambergris accords I have (IFF, and biolandes).

There are several feeds on Base Notes about creating an ambergris base that might help you. One of the most popular ones seems to be a mix of Grisalva and Ambrinol. Ambergris is incredibly variable depending on how long its been floating in the ocean so you've got a lot of room to customize it. I'd love to hear what you come up with 👍

How strong would you use your violet leaf absolute for trial batches?

I have mine diluted to 1%. Usually around .05% of the full perfume formula is a noticable effect for clean green....or I'll take it up to 1-2 parts per thousand in the formula if I want the leaf as a more dominant featured note

When you were talking about lavanders.. you mentioned something like mellete but I couldn't find anything about it. Could you help us about it's pronounciation

It's a variety of lavender called "mailette". Really nice and sweet variety with little to no camphor notes

Thanks for the materials videos. They are a great source of information when you're looking for just the right materials to express the aspect of natural materials that you want 👍 I am curious how long Ambergris T Oliffac from IFF (I'm assuming that's the one you use) lasts on a scent strip for you. For me, it seems like a top to mid note rather than a base note at 10%. MASSIVE amounts of ozone that gives way to a very small amount of powdery, amber, and animalic notes with it no longer being detectable after 6 hours. Very weird. 🤔

Well, my paper strip is now dead. And it seems Ambergris Oliffac (IFF) lasts only about 144 hrs on a paper strip (dipped neat). Not very long lasting as I would have thought, kinda disappointing.

@@bkscents7050 thanks for letting me know. ❤️ Yeah that is disappointing. I read a post on BN and they were suggesting (among other things) a combination of Grisalva and Ambrinol as a pretty realistic ambergris replacer so I might try playing with that as well as tweaking the amount of Ambroxan. Maybe a touch of seaweed accord for a bit more ozone and minerality. Hmm 🤔

@@bkscents7050 Haha its a mystery 🙃 , I will look into getting a sample sent from Ventos as no one seems to have it for sale hence the curiosity of how you came to acquire some ( perhaps I will stock this one in my shop ☺️) , incidentally have you tried the Frankincense from Enfleurage in New York , they have a rather beautiful Sacra and a Frankincense and myrrh co -distillation they own a small distillery in Oman , Christophe L recommended them and I have to say its top notch , thanks for link to the Eden one I will be sure to try this , I have their sacra but it doesn’t beat Enfleurage ( in my opinion anyways ) Take care and keep up the great content x
