Hey there! I love how the game is quickly taking shape! The approach you used for cutscene is indeed interesting 🤔 As for the location switching, it make sense but it doesn't feel that scalable, I say it because I had a similar one. I now use a system pretty much equal to Nathanhoad's location manager (look it up!), just that I recreated the plugin from scratch since his plugin is only on patreon, but I avoided making it public because of that 😅, but I can assure you it's that kind of plugin you want to have 100%! Would love to see a video on how you did the lighting too :D, I'm kinda interested in it because I'm having an hard time to make it work as I want Also, if you'll ever made another video that shows your approach with quests, I'd like to add it to quest system page, I'm kinda liking how the game is turning out, and it'd be amazing to see a devlog focused on quests with your game 😄 I wanted to do it with your other video but it wasn't that into quests specific stuff other than the fact you used the example repo as a base That said, looking forward for new videos of yours 😄

I really appreciate your comment! As you said, the plugin created by Nathanhoad would be ideal for my project, in fact the solution I adopted is very "rough" compared to his. I will try to make a more advanced version taking inspiration from it. As for the Quests, I have already recorded an entire 2h video tutorial (I still have to edit and shorten it) where I show how I create a quest from scratch using both Quest System and Pandora! It will appear on the channel in the next few days!

Unsure how i feel about the Ai art, butt* i must admit I am surprised to see how well it blends in with the pixel art, it carries the overall mood of the game

In fact, I was also quite skeptical at first but since I don't have a lot of experience in creating images of that type I wanted to try and honestly I was surprised by how it was how I actually imagined the scene.

@@trobugno I completely understand that, in the beginning, it is either too difficult or too expensive to get custom art. AI gives a good start, even if as placeholders, it helps convey the mood of the game. For how long has it been in development?

@@not_importan I started developing it in September 2023 working on it until January 2024. Then due to personal commitments and inconveniences I couldn't get my hands on it for months until August of the same year. In that month I decided to redo the game from the ground up, as well as redoing the entire graphic style. From August to today I work on it almost every day, trying to keep those interested via X updated with some posts and videos on KZbin when I have reached a good state of progress. Consider that from pixel art (sprites, animations, etc., except for some exceptions), the development of the code, drawing and designing characters, maps, etc.. I do everything by myself. The only help will be with the character and the stories of Viohal as it was created by a my friend who loves theater and who had this idea of the bard and decided to create stories for the game.

@@trobugno That's huge, keep it up. I asked because the game seems to have quite a bit of mechanics, and it seems to be quite polished, but there were only 2 or 3 videos about it on youtube. We'll be needing more :D

Unfortunately I work on it in my free time when I am not busy with my job or family commitments. Currently I have already recorded 1 video tutorial on how I create the next quest from scratch using the Quest System and Pandora shown in one of the previous videos. However it is quite tiring to be able to bring video updates and keep the game moving forward at the same time.. I promise I will make more videos about it especially on the day-night system, etc.

Good bro. keep it up. You have bright future in game development 🤗🤗🤗. Bro did you use ai for game arts or you do it yourself?🤔🤔🤔

Thank you very much! it would be my dream but currently I work in a completely different field (fintech).. for the images of the cutscenes I used AI since I don't have the skills to create images of that type. Consider that everything you see from the pixel art, plot, programming I take care of it all by myself 😅

I hope those AI arts are temporary placeholder, because it would stain the look of the game, and made it look cheap despite the cool gameplay and sprite. The other guy says to put pixel filter on it, but I don't buy it, imo I think it would be best to just hire an artist once the game is finished

In fact this was the final goal, but since it is still in development I preferred not to spend money until I understand how many people are interested in the project!

Love the transitions. But I'm not liking the use of Ai arts on a game like this. I'll suggest you to put a pixel filter on top of them maybe because right now it's way too prominent. Then again it's your game so it's your choice.

I used AI art to speed up the work with cutscenes. However applying a pixel filter on the images could be a good idea, I will try to do some tests, publishing it on the discord server maybe.
