My hope is that they include Mind Spike in Twisted Faith (would be +80 DPS or something) as well as remove the CD from Void Plague. You'd play TF on single target and VP would have some nice potential on multi-target fights

Shamans also lack a dps rune slot for boots, which also hurts considering neither dps spec performed exceedingly well p1 either.

So Shadow was one of the better damage at 60. With shadow weaving bring great dmg to warlocks as well in raids. But we also don't know all the runes coming phase 2. Those are just datamined, all those runes maybe in phase 2 in just the belt and boot slots. We may have a dmg boot rune, we wont know till Feb 8th. Also spriest will be one of the best PvP classes at 40 with the addition of Dispersion.

The reasoning is PvP. That’s why. Shadow priest is like an sl lock. PvP oriented caster. If you add more damage it’s going to be unbalanced in PvP

Absolutely hate the addition of Mind Spike, it will surely push Mind Flay out of our rotation, our most iconic spell, and the last spec that had a channeled spec in the rotation. Now with everything in gnomeregan most likely will be disease immune so we will be forced to only use half of the effect of the rune Twisted Fate... Vampiric Touch wouldve fixed so many problems for shadow priest... im super upset about this seems like they put zero thought into these runes and just gave us a random shadow ability without putting thought into how our rotation works or feels

Don't forget what Gnomergon was full of Robots and some oozes. Both have spell restrictions. Yes i get that Gnomer is being rebuilt, im sure it'll continue with some of the same kind of mobs.

Doesn’t really affect shadow priests since twisted faith is similar dps to void plague. Warriors go fury and still sim 300+ dps over shadow

I have a feeling that we will still be casting MF a bit, just not nearly as much as before. Seems like the single target rotation will be something like swp > MB, then you settle into a keep swp up and cast MSx3 > MFx1 (if twisted fate gives it more dmg than MS) > MB on rotation. As someone who raided spriest in classic, damage being moved away from MF and dots is nice because of the potential for crits, which was always a huge problem for vanilla spriest and their scaling.

Really hoping for Shadow to take off in p2 after how much it hurts to play in p1 currently. My biggest hope is that Mind Spike gets something like other classes where "Mind spike benefits from anything that effects Mind Flay" so Twisted Faith can become very strong since the 100% crit Mind Blasts do make it look enticing. But I do agree with the concerns on everything looking to be kind of mediocre at best in current state. I just hope everything does somehow work out. Also I am curious where the p2 sims are don't think I've been able to find anything like that yet. Also am glad to find a content creator focused on SPriest as a fellow enjoyer

Shadow and balance will be crazy good offhealing specs. If you have a shadow or a boomi im your group you really only need 1 more healer. I really love the flexibility in sod.

Vanilla is too easy to need an off healer. all that will matter in the end is "how is your damage" and any focus on utility or off healing ability will be effectively useless

Shadow Priests are already going to be an absolute nightmare to deal with in PVP, so I think that's where a lot of hesitation comes from for their damage output.

A fresh level 60 vanilla shadow priest has 6 or 7% crit usually... the critting dots rune should include a 10 or 15% bonus crit chance and maybe even a "Ruin" like effect. Feels like well over half of runes just never go far enough and are usually too underwhelming and not willing to give the buffs the bad specs truly need (or good runes are put in slots with another slightly better rune, rendering others unusable.) Or they try to force in utility in a game that's too easy to actually benefit from it. Meanwhile they are willing to buff dps warriors even further while only giving the other specs these half measures.

Hi there - just checking out ppl who talk about SP in P2. :) I share most of your thoughts, although I am kinda worried that spike+MB might be very mana intensive - but therefore Disp. & SF could be useful - as it seems now, SW:Death will deal a hell lot of dmg (& healing) and I am soo much looking forward to see that oomph heal pop up on everyone haha. Voidzone could also be insane healing with VE.

Because of the guardian spirit rune, the lack of a rune that nerfs /changes vampiric embrace for a damage increase, and the Lack of an Atonement healing rune... I think shadowpriests are just going to hybrid dps-healers or off healers. At least this phase. - maybe people will figure out how going healer-less with a shadowpriest or two will make blizzard rethink Shadow balance for future phases.

It didn’t. The buff on the spell list is the buff it got halfway through phase 1. The only difference in phase 2 is you take 50% backlash damage instead of all of it

i leveled and geared a shadow priest in era.. got to AQ40. huge time investment considering nobody likes spriest. buuut once i got there, i found that it was a total dead end, as no raid teams would take me further. as a result i quit the game. i'd really hate to see that repeated. i genuinely wish i didn't like shadow priest so much lately. i'm now rolling a warlock.. but i hate it

Shadow Priest is still viable even in P1. Sure you will never top fights but you can push 150+ dps on most fights and you bring instant armor reduction so your warriors don't have to sunder. We will be even less of a meme in p2. Enjoying my spriest right now. Currently have a 99.4 avg parse for BFD.

It's going to be tough to bring Spriest up to the same level as other dps with VE how it is. In classic, we were always sort of a niche support/dps with shadow weaving. Feels like giving us PS and Homonculi puts us further into that role. A Pseudo healer that buffs warlocks and melee dps, with a damage reduction C/D isn't very exciting though.

Its true, an spriest doing 800 dps or whatever warriors are simming would be healing for 160 hps across 5 targets, which is a rate raid healers cant even touch. It would be kinda cool if with 10 man raid sizes there are more options for hybrid dps/healer roles as the "off healer".. The free wrath rune/free starsurge really let rdruid to this p1. And it does seem like Blizzard is pushing this playstyle with Healing Mage runes/even the shaman rune which interacts with flameshock. A rune which makes it so that in addition to party members, raid members with your weakened soul debuff also gained VE healing could be fun and allow spriest/disc hybrid where you can direct your passive healing to tanks/people in the melee group.

Yes but in classic, u were bring 40 people.. there's tons of room for a support dps. Fitting a support dps into a 10man though... that's rly tough.

Right now on WCL, at the 99 percentile, Shadow is dead last. I'm just passing on SOD, no point, its just World of Warrior craft all over again for the hundreth time.
