Maybe should of re-filmed that one, Travis seemed to lose the plot. Not sure I can trust they made the forks stiffer haha

Picked up my '22 450 last week. Broke it in a bit and heading to the track this weekend. My first 4-stroke so we'll see how this goes. I can't wait!

trade it in for a 250, unless youre A class racing, the 450 is just going to make riding harder not funner.

I agree with j a 450 is just too much for a mere mortal unless you are a expert classracer the new 250 four strokes are plenty

I've read that sentiment a lot and I'm not sure how I feel about it in regards to my riding experience / style / situation. I'd agree if I was 16, 160 lbs., and trying to be the Local Track Hero. But those days are WAY behind me! So far the bike has felt fine, even with the stock mapping. A little 'barky' off-throttle, but by no means unmanageable. Power delivery is smooth and very predictable. Maybe it's the 20+ years of riding 250 2-strokes on the pipe that's made the transition a little easier than someone going from a 125 or 250F? A few of my friends have YZ450Fs and ride with The Magic Map. I'll give it a shot this weekend and see how I like it. They convinced me to get the YZ450F instead of the KTM 300 XC-W I was looking at, claiming the 450 allows them to ride a little more 'lazily'. They claim they can break sooner, prep for the corner, lug through it, stand the bike up, and accelerate over the next obstacle with a little less effort than a smaller displacement bike. None of us are trying to be Tomac. Just turning laps and having fun when we opt for a track day. We also ride a lot of open terrain so the 450F will be able to stretch its legs more out there. That's why I was looking at the 300 XC-W originally. I will say that I'm able to flog TF out of my buddies YZ250F a lot easier on the little track here on our property - but we didn't build it for anything larger than a pit bike, or *at most*, a 125 pinger. Just big enough to say "hold my beer" and try something stupid. The 450F is simply too much bike for that. Doubt very seriously I'll ever trade the 450 in. But...there's always room in the race shop to add a 250F to the stable. If Yamaha re-vamped the 250 like they did the 125 this year, I'd have likely bought that. Will revisit that decision in a couple of years after they've had time to refine the bike.

I mean I agree with everybody else I just try to look out for people safety also I grew up racing motocross from 60s to 250 two strokes I didn't ride for like 20 years I bought a KX250 2 stroke and had a mechanical failure where it Whiskey throttled came right off the ground ended up needing knee surgery granted it wasn't Rider error but still it got me thinking for someone like me 43 years old with a wife and two kids do I really need that much horsepower definitely does somebody with experience A or B level Rider of course a 450 would be great not for this old husband with two kids lol
