For the longest I’ve been wanting the Crv after the remodel came out. I currently have a civic so I was like let me stick with Honda. But I do have a heavy foot and just hated how it lagged. And the reason why I wanted a CRV was for the bigger space and mostly AWD (I live in nyc) I saw this Mazda CX5 on the road and it made me reconsider. I love how it looked and the size as well. I’m here reading the comments and now want a cx5

I just bought a base 2021 CX5 Sport two years ago, it only cost me $28,000 and had everything that I needed, two years later I’m still in love with this car, it’s just a great vehicle at a very affordable price, and you get options and quality only in cars far more expensive. I've owned a 2008 Mazda 3, 2016 Mazda 6, and a 2019 Mazda 6. Mazda has the best steering aorund. The touch and feel are unmatched. I'm now driving a 2022 Kia Stinger, which is ok but i do miss Mazda. Too bad they've stopped updating and selling the 6 in the States. They could have a real hit bringing it back, updated of course. And stop making silly decisions like using non touchscreens, using the same old 6 gear, calling 250hp a turbo option, and always being the last implementing common tech features. Mazda is already unique, they just need to be a pioneer/leader. I'll very likely never buy a Honda or Toyota. Just not my style but i do like the lifted look of the Crown. It's a modern take on the look of the sedan and i think should be copied. SUVs and their expanding sizes are ridiculous at this point. Lifting the sedans slightly would help with visibility when driving behind these behemoths on the rode.

I've owned three CX-5's. A 2017 Touring, a 2019 GT and a 2022 Signature. Just a few things I didn't really like about them. 1. stiff ride. Got much stiffer after the 2017. 2. fuel economy with the turbo. If you do a lot of HW driving not a problem. If you do mostly city driving it's fairly hard on gas. 3. front seats have to move way up if the rear seats are down and flat. 4. the USB ports are inside the center console. 5. the engine shuts off when remote start (Mazda App) is used when the door is opened...even if you have the fob on you. 6. the rear wiper seemed weak on all 3 I owned. 7. the rear USB ports and the heated seat buttons are in the rear console, so having a 3rd person sitting in the rear makes those impossible to use. 8. the paint was thin and fragile (2019 was a soul crystal red). 9. the NA engine would perform much better with an 8 speed transmission. 10. the seats in the 2019 and 2022 were somewhat hard and uncomfortable for longer trips. 11. Bose system doesn't sound that great. Had a 2021 Acura RDX ELS system that was light years better. 12. 2022 head unit would reboot often while driving. This was just my personal experience with owning three of them. That said, I really liked all three. All three were reliable. I'm waiting for the CX-70 and will most likely buy another Mazda soon. No car is perfect.

Hmm. In my experience, the ride got softer from 2017 and beyond. And again for my my 2020 and 2023 which feel the same save for the move to 19" wheels which just makes you feel more of the road's imperfections. The body roll is too much for my liking and I will probably do some suspension mods to improve that. But I'm probably in the minority since I come from a performance car background.
@crzmicky
@crzmicky Жыл бұрын
I’ve only had a 2021, but on the Bose compared to the RDX ELS I really thought the Bose sounded a lot better. At least when I remember the price difference from my GT CX5 to the ‘21 RDX ASPEC.
@2bookoo4u
@2bookoo4u Жыл бұрын
@@matsudakodo I never really noticed the body roll to be an issue, at least for me. I am a somewhat slower driver though, so that's probably why. I agree, it's most likely the wheel size that makes the difference in feeling every road imperfection. It's not a deal breaker, but I do prefer a softer ride. Since I posted a little over a month ago, I went on to buy a new 2024 CX-5 Turbo Premium. I keep coming back to Mazda for a reason.

@@crzmicky For whatever reason, I just liked the ELS sound better. The Bose system sounds distant to my ears. Like a blanket is covering the speakers or something. I just bought a new CX-5. We had a 2019 Grand Touring and loved it at first and then after a couple years the drive did not feel nearly as nice when we first bought it. It was very noticeable to the point we didn’t enjoy driving it anymore so we got rid of it for a Mach E. My in-laws have had two CX 9s and they seemed to last quality-wise. About the 2024: as much as I still love the exterior of this car, it’s gotta be updated. Even more so the INTERIOR. It hurts me that it’s been the same since 2017. And last thing that’s irritating is the rear seat warmer buttons on the fold out arm rest. They should have been integrated into the door panel in case you have a 5th passenger back there! At least they won’t feel left out and everyone’s bums will be cold lol

That Bright finish hockey stick needs to go. The “dark chrome” finish from the front would be much better. And no premium vehicle should have that tablet style screen. Still it’s a nice car. Today while driving the info screen went black. I had a 2019 Subaru that experienced the same, went from digital to analog lost all the safety features on the Subaru and went through three car batteries in 3 days because the Subaru info center was draining the battery even when parked. I now have zero confidence in this Mazda-but lucky for me I know how to go through the steps to declare an auto as a lemon. I hate this Mazda with its new car smell. And all the dealerships in Los Angeles are lying like this is an isolated issue.

It gets pretty cold here in north-western Illinois, and I can care less about having the cabin warmed up before I drive. That's why we have winter coats. @@ryanzeid146 I can say that I’ve used a gel cushion with a removable black neoprene type cover. I wash the cover occasionally. Inside is a squishy blue gel insert, it’s about 1.5” thick. The heat doesn’t seem to bother it but you can always remove the cushion if you are concerned or maybe not use the maximum stage of heating. The ventilation seems to just work it’s way to the open holes. I wasn’t sure in the beginning but I haven’t noticed any problems. I pull the cushion out for long trips and put in the cargo area 90% of the time when I don’t need it. You can always return the cushion. The base engine and the turbo engine are the exact same engine - just configured differently. It is why Mazda still offers both. The non turbo engine has a compression ratio at 14 to 1 for better power and gas mileage than competition can offer with their base engine. When you move to the turbo model, they detune the compression down to a standard 11 to 1 and add a turbo charger to increase the power instead. If you use premium, you get the huge horsepower numbers they mention. With 87 octane fuel it drops to 227 hp, which is only 40 more horsepower than the base engine.

Only things I don't like about the CX-5 & Mazda in-general these days is their rampant use of stop/start & cylinder-deactivation engine tech to help meet fuel economy regulations - both of which can NOT be turned off 24/7 in vehicle settings. The start/stop can be turned off manually every time you start the vehicle, but that's a pretty lame routine to have to get into every time you get into your vehicle. I'm glad that my 2022 CX-30 CE doesn't have either of those added engine complexities/failure-points, though cylinder-deactivation was added onto the 2023+ CX-30's also now (at the least the non-turbo ones). Also not a fan of turbo engines, but that's another story.

@@RangerRickTV For Mazda it's a button on the dash. Start/Stop will always default to ON every time you start up vehicle & you will have to turn if off with that button if you don't want it on during that drive. Same way that vehicle always defaults to normal transmission mode when you start it up & you have to use another selector button to put it into sports mode. No automaker that I know of gives you the option of turning start/stop off full-time (once & done). There is also zero option to turn off cylinder-deactivation under any circumstances.

Even worse, push a button and then wait for the thing to open. I don't get it. Unless they have the hands free option. There are times when that would be a great thing to have. Enough to justify the nuisance the rest of the time. But this powered door doesn't have that feature. So why pay for a powered feature? Crazy!
