Some carbs are okay, and they’re not all junky. Just limit intake, make sure you maintain a balanced diet, get lots of exercise. Keto and carnivore are not balanced or reasonable and have their own issues as well. Many different approaches will yield satisfactory results. There is such a thing as the law of diminished returns. Does an A1c of 5.0% yield a measurable reduction in health complications or shortened life expectancy compared to 6.1% or 6.2%? Nope! So enjoy a plate of pasta or a sandwich on whole grain bread sometimes. Hell, have a doughnut or piece of cake one in a while. People just go over the top needlessly sometimes. Just my opinion.

As a triathlon athlete I can tell you if you are type 1 diabetic you shouldn’t be trying to get below a 5.8 A1C because it’s literally almost impossible to keep sugar levels super super super 100% stable around the clock especially if you have a busy lifestyle ( work, school, family, physical activities , exercise etc) so as a type 1 diabetic I would always suggest aiming between 6%- 6.8%. The lower your sugars are around the clock is the higher risk you have of having low blood sugar crashes if you have a busy schedule . So for me my a1c is 5.9% usually and I’m super active, the issue is I’m too active that my blood sugars are susceptible to dropping at a higher risk , below 50 etc. So don’t always get too caught up with the a1c number but get caught up with changing the lifestyles, nutrition and physical activity is the biggest changes to make and ofc proper insulin usage.

I tested by blood sugar today. It was 150. Is that good or bad?
@craigslitzer48573 жыл бұрын
Depends on whether that was a fasting glucose or a transient state. Fasting glucose levels should ideally be between 60-90 for healthy individuals and perhaps between 90-120 for people with some amount of metabolic dysfunction. During a transient state, glucose levels can fluctuate wildly depending on what foods/beverages were consumed, how long ago they were consumed, and the metabolic health of the individual

I was 125 lbs and still 5’3” talI. I used to pee every 1.5 hrs and let me tell you that I would sit in my car to get my mind off the urge to pee or, or, I couldn”t get out of the car long enough to walk from the car port to my apt straight to the toilet. I was always thirsty. Then I had those red spots on my lower leg. My feet didn’t look good either. I had spider veins behind my knees. The sides of my mouth would constantly split open (one side at a time) one mm in length. Those cuts lasted 2 days and would return in a week or two. I am so confused right now...Most of the diabetes symptoms are gone. My legs and feet look wonderful. The red spots disappeared! Gone are the yeast infections. These days, I am 100 lbs. I drink enough fluids but I don’t have to pee in 5 or 6 hours and I don”t have to hurry. But guess what? My glucose readings are in the mid 250’s to even 280! What the hell! Arrrghhh!

Two hours after meals my blood sugar continues to get higher. One night it was 60 points higher. Does anyone know why that is?

why are you recommending goal of 7% for diabetics> So that you can remain in business? You do know that diabetics can get thrie A1C in the 5% range if they are told how to? You do know that diabetes IS NOT a life long condition and can be reversed right?
@nechamas85013 жыл бұрын
Not type 1!
@Thomzz95 Жыл бұрын
Most people with diabetes do not completely reverse their condition sadly but to prevent long term complications a 7% a1c is recommended because it’s low enough to not cause damage to your body.
@rrbigdad3 жыл бұрын
I thought anything above 5.6 A1c was considered diabetic
@cdgates13 жыл бұрын
5.7-6.4 is considered pre diabetic

As low as reasonably achievable. I have experienced 40's and 50's. They are scary.....Aunt Jemima syrup has saved my but more than a few times. I keep syrup in my purse, and in my car and at my bedside. ( It's cheap, effective, and I am not tempted to snack out on it, lol)

7% is good achievement for the diabetic patients. Isn't it?
@pickledrick51584 жыл бұрын
7% HbA1c actually equates to 177 mg/dl. If you read the medical studies kidneys start to suffer at about 180 mg/dl. The point you see the polyuria and start risking dehydration. Diabetics and non diabetics have the same organs, tissues and needs so recommending anything over 5.5% is a sure way to bring them premature death.
@anilshah73234 жыл бұрын
@@pickledrick5158 A1c 7%is equal to 150-155 isn't it.You said 177
@SugarMDs4 жыл бұрын
Depends on how you did before and how you are getting to 7% now. A1c is not everything. Look at your spikes and lows.
@pickledrick51584 жыл бұрын
@@anilshah7323 The formula I am referring to is the more accurate DCCT (Diabetes control and complications trial) formula 35.6(HbA1c %) - 77.3 = estimated glucose average. The stuff most endocrinologist refer to or found online is the innacurate ADAG formula. The ADAG formula is 28.7 (HbA1c) - 46.7. This formula was calculated using a grossly innacurate blood glucose meter endorsed and recommended by the ADA always reading on the low side. Hope this information helps you!
