For those of you shipping out soon, everything has changed because of covid-19. As of right now, they no longer allow partners for sit-ups. They also changed up the pt test because of this. I'm not sure if they're still waiving the test completely but that was what they were doing for the flights graduating after me.

Do you have to do PT on a daily/weekly basis with your unit in the operational Air Force? Or is it less regular, or simply are you expected to stay in shape between your annual PT test?

It depends on the flight/squadron. Normally, my flight has PT once a week and squadron PT is once a week.

I have some questions! I’m planing on joining the Air Force together with my husband. Anyone know if we can go to BMT together? I am terrible at running and can’t even do one full sit up, do you think the boot camp can fix that or is definitely necessary for me to start ASAP training? Thank you guys!
@Brittanylynnlewis4 жыл бұрын
It may be difficult trying to enlist right now during COVID, and may be more difficult trying to get the same ship date, but your recruiter will have the most updated information about this! I think it is definitely necessary to start training ASAP. If you go to BMT completely out of shape you are risking being held longer for not meeting standards and PT is going to be that much harder.

This will be a different experience based on if you’re in the newer dorms (Disneyland) or older dorms (Alcatraz). I was in the newer dorms and we had plenty of shower heads and hot water. That’s not really the case at Alcatraz. Lol Yes you have a certain amount of time.

Hi Brittany, I'm joining the USAF and one thing I worry about is stretching during BMT. I'm a contortionist and extremely flexible and if I don't have a proper stretch at least once a day while doing the physical training, I run the risk of injury. Would I have a chance for a ten minute or so stretch once a day?

Dont worry about doing any push-ups at meps, its mainly taking the asvab and any other specialty test you chose to take. The only "exercise" you'll be doing is the x factor test, where you lift a minimum of 50 lbs over your head, and its a lot easier than you think. And once you're past meps, you'll be place in the DEP where you'll have plenty of time to prepare yourself for bmt.
