I actually like the beefy look of big air coolers as it gives the impression that the rig means business. Another reason I felt discouraged about AIO's when building my first PC is due to people on Facebook constantly commenting on other people's systems about how they did not rotate the pump/pipes right.
@gregbirkett7399
@gregbirkett7399 2 жыл бұрын
AIOs aren't really any better than a good air cooler until you start getting to the expensive side. Your generic ones have cold plates that barely or don't even cover the CPU/GPU, bad restriction problems from cheap rads, or pumps with bad flowrate and/or lift and fail miserably in what they try to achieve. The big bulky air coolers, tbh though are just as bad. After Zalmann came out with the heatpipe technology.. there really isn't anywhere left to go with them that makes anything any "better" except better fans. And that goes for BOTH air vs AIO.. which is why you'll see Thermaltake, Corsair and Noctua at the top of either. (3 best fans out right now) Even high end custom loops are limited by their fan capabilities, though. There's a bit more to it when delving into custom.. such as FPI and coldplates and fins.. but at that point, you're really min/maxxing
@ReasonRaider
@ReasonRaider Жыл бұрын
Benefits of the aios aren’t meant to increase performance on the lower end he’s right but they are quieter, more efficient at pushing the heat out of the case because it pushes it right out instead of back into the case, and they are also if you want your pc to look more sleek. You aren’t going to get any significant performance gain from an aio.

I agree. I've been using a NH D-15 up until my current build, I run an Intel i5 xx600k with an overclock and the Noctua was good. Only reason I swapped to an AIO was it's slightly quieter., I did notice a very slight improvement on other component temps, I think because there's less mass blocking/deflecting the front to rear airflow. These differences are small though, they weren't anywhere near critical with the mighty Noctua.

Good Vid, I have used both Air & Liquid cooling with equal sucess, these days I like the new Liquid coolers because of the LCD temp display on some of them, I would think this would be a very useful utility.

I've always had air coolers, I might go with AIO in the future just for something different and try something new, but for me air works fine. Just got a new PC with an AMD 5800x and a Deepcool AK500 air cooler. So far so good, but you're not wrong when you say they are big, especially in a compact size case like I have.

One of the best straightforward and honest answer videos I've ever seen. Really well done. And keep being yourself, you're hilarious. So tired of all the "pro" videos out there that sleight of hand their answers to support their sponsors and put obviously better fans on an air cooler to try to "show" a different result and mislead so many people just trying to find an answer. Happily subscribed, and will be my newest goto video to give to people who want to learn. Very well done. All the "pros" could take a few lessons from ya, my dude.

Atm I'd give it to Air Cooling up to a certain cpu. Had a Air Cooler on my 7800x3d kept it at 72 on HD2 mid 50s on older games. Went with a 420mm for aesthetics/better cooling. Currently HD2 hits 80 still low 50s on older game's. Yes it's more pleasing on the eye with the AOI but the Air Cooler was doing the better job. Still thinking it over as I thought the AIO would/should of been better than my Air set up. May end up selling the AIO and getting the Air Cooler back in 😆

Most people cannot plumb their own custom liquid cooling PCs. The AIO liquid CPU coolers were supposed to be that happy middle ground compromise. The issue I have with these AIO kits is they tend to fail just outside of 2 years just beyond warranty. I went through 2 Corsair 110i AIO kits, an Arctic and a Thermaltake AIO kits. Until the manufacturers guarantee their AIOs with 5 year warranties, I am staying with massive oversized air cooler blocks

Also I have it set up as an exhaust on the top of my case. If I ever decide I want to have my AIO set up as an intake I'll buy a bigger one with 3 fans and have it on the front of my case. Honestly when that time comes though, I'll probably do a custom loop and have one at the top and bottom (my case is a corsair 680x, so it supports fans on the bottom of the case as well. I bought it specifically for it's airflow, after the disaster my old NZXT was on airflow)

Why the Intel still use screw pins is beyong me, instead screws on the plate...

I was going to do air again with this upgrade cycle, but now I'm leaning toward water-cooled for the CPU simply because pretty much all of the air coolers that can somewhat keep up with water coolers don't have enough clearance for advanced RAM. I mean, who has 32mm ram anymore?! lol. I have a pretty large case and even adjusting the fan a bit isn't possible because it already fills up all of the height it can at standard height.
