Well.... some of those countries wouldn't be on my list. Belarus ....is anything else than safe. People are fleeing the country for their own safety. It's ridiculouse to come with such a suggestion. Then North Korea would be a paradise of safe with that kind of "logic". Georgia and Armenia are beautiful and interesting but the traffic is horrible. They drive as if they are on a suicide mission. If that is not a worry for you...well.... then go there. On the other hand is Turkey a very interesting country, safe and good food. Most of East-Europe is good. Try counties like Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Czechia, Croatia and Montenegro. Surprice yourself with finding beautiful cities in Transylvania(Romania), Bulgaria and Serbia. Not going to West-European countries because they are not cheap ...is a miss..... there are so much to see. Hence there are a lot of places/countries to travel to. I my self buy a one way flight ticket ...and then I'll see where I end up. Being flexible I think it is called. I've been to over 80 countries.... but since I'sm not a woman the experiences might be different for you..... That women travel solo around in the world is not unusual. Anyhow the most important luggage you carry with you is inside your head. I'm not that kind of traveller that goes to the cheapest and most comfortable place to get "most for my money". I travel to learn and to the more interesting places .....and there you must know what you are doing and have done your homework in advance... Good luck....

One word of caution to anyone travelling to other parts of the world. I understand while talking about this topic of "cheap" or "inexpensive" etc. amongst fellow Westerners or people with means whom you identify with. However, be cautious about describing other people's countries or areas where they live as such. The reason many places are "cheap" to you is because they are NOT cheap to locals. Things are often priced on an economy of scale and what the standard living wage and labor rates are. Quite a few of those poeple are just getting by or possibly struggling to pull themselves and their family through the lower to middle classes.

Not quite cheap especially in terms of accommodation, education & luxury goods, but in terms of value for money, you’ll definitely get the bang for your buck for the basic necessities. Food is quite cheap even in hotels compared to other countries. Transportation is also reasonably priced. I like your presentations which are both informative and interesting. However, in my experience the factor which most determines whether you can live anywhere in the world is the availability of a long-term visa or residency status. Usually this involves having to deposit a relatively large amount of money in a bank situated in the country you want to live in. There are also likely to be other immigration requirements which can also be costly to acquire.

I absolutely enjoy the content and I wanted to add a few points: the tagline of "50% tax in Western countries" applies to employees - not to businesses. if you want to keep what you earn you have to be self-employed and run your own business. All countries you mentioned as an alternative have very weak labor markets - they are not havens for employees looking for a job. Also, the pay scales are abysmal. However, running a business "from there" may make sense - depending on the business, logistics and the personal taste for risks ("beta"). Best thing to do is to visit the country multiple times and execute a simple plan: find a place to live (rent/own) or understand what it would take (speak to landlords), register a business (what is the bureaucracy like and the cost) and just enjoy the scenery and the people. You will ride on the kindness of strangers during this stage and you will like it. Based on the "feel", you can make next steps - or fold it and go where you are treated better. During the pandemic, a great first step is finding a country that will let you in because many won't :)
@smilebot4843 жыл бұрын
Digital nomad means you bring your work with you. You are not tied to location. So local tax rates for residents is clearly relevant. Owning a business there doesn't make you a digital nomad. It makes you a business owner in a particular country.

I like how he does not just focus on the typical Western European, U.S., Canada, and Australia for his analysis. Too many studies ignore South America, Africa, and the Middle East, and just immediately discount them as being low quality, low class, and dangerous. I'm a world traveler myself. I've been to four different continents and dozens of countries. The safest place I've ever been to was Costa Rica. Very pleasant experience, the people were extremely nice and polite and the biodiversity/natural beauty is off the charts.

Due to the political situation in the US and a Daughter-in-Law whose family is from Singapore, Malaysia is a location I am considering. I have just begun to watch the videos here and I will look at your book and begin to evaluate the differences between the current situation and a possible alternative in Southeast Asia. What about medical cannabis in Asia? From what I have heard the two are not compatible and cannabis use is strictly forbidden everywhere in Asia. There are more trade-offs than one would initially like to consider.

Eastern Europe is fine except the winters. For south east Asia my picks would be Malaysia Vietnam amd Thailand. Visa situation in Thailand is workable if you have the money to put down for the deposit and have health insurance. Any of these places you can live ok with 1k. Not going out, simple life outside of major cities. For 2k a month, you can live an almost western life. For ppl in the us, Latin America is very attractive as it's in the same relative time zone so easy to keep in touch back home and most of us know some level of Spanish.

Sao Paulo? One of the largest fleets of armored cars in the world per capita. Take this advice from a Brazilian now living in the US: avoid the metro areas of most state capitals and you'll be fine. Southeast region is the most developed, South region reminds of Germany/Italy, and the Center-west region (where the country capital is) is focused on cattle and large soybeans farms.

China invaded Vietnam and failed. Taiwan is much stronger than Vietnam. And unlike Vietnam which is connected to China, Taiwan is separated from China by sea. The key is that as soon as you have a large influx of foreigners, esp Americans, the price of everything goes up. Paradise seems to be lost more often than its found, but little things like sanitation and roads can be pretty basic when you get off the beaten track. I laugh when I see people claiming that Phnom Penh is like the Bangkok they fell in love with 30 years ago but that's a take for another thread. Thanks for the vid.

The safest or cheapest locations today is not guaranteed to be the safest or cheapest tomorrow. When I first settled in the UK, London was safer than New York. That is no longer the case. Crime in Oxford was rare. The grooming gangs shattered that. Helsingborg / Sweden felt safe. From what friends tell me that is no longer the case. The best defensive strategy (if one can afford it) is to have options to move about. What the world will look like in 10 years is anybody’s guess.

Yes... look for a 'Republic' with Democratic principles and a Constitution... a Constitution with Amendments for reliable Recall and Referendum. 'Latin America/South America' only has one for example. Or look for a country that demands every citizen trained in firearms, to possess a military grade weapon and lists ALL citizens as on call for National Defense, the E.U. has only one for example. What do either cases have in common?... both demand all citizens capable of involvement with the future of their countries.

It might sound bit awkward owing to the kind of government it is of China, but hey, there are others too of the same kind in many other countries. I would highly recommend Shenzhen. It’s a very safe place to live in. Super convenient, safe for even females to walk around at any hour of the night, a decent living can be at USD 2000. If one is from an English speaking country with some teaching experience, can live like a King or Queen.

Youp that’s including the 1000 usd rent of a good 2 bedroom apartment. Otherwise, one can live in a 1 bedroom apartment for 500 usd and spend 1500 total then.
