I broke my dads projector before they were a bit more mainstream,not even that bad either but this is when I had to put the shit on standby before shutting if off so it could cool the bulb off properly. But one time I accidentally shut it off without cooling it in standby mode first. Literally fried the thing. $1800 down the drain for him those bulbs too especially were so expensive. Felt so bad but I knew it was super expensive so I immediately told him and while he was super pissed I definitely got off way too easy compared to if I had hid it and pretended I didn't know why it was broken.

Many years ago my brothers boss at the time got a new TV, it was the newest, flashiest TV of the time and was expensive and everyone knew because he had been talking about it all week. So Friday morning comes and the boss explains how he had to go early to the store to collect the TV as there would be no time after work and so the TV was in the back of the van and could my brother help move it inside the office to make space in the van for the day of work. The truth was that he had collected the television the night before and in the back of the van was the old TV that had died & that he needed to take to the dump but he had put it inside the new televisions box with the plan of making my brother drop it and the other 3 men had been told so were watching out the windows as my brother and his boss began to carry the TV out, the plan worked except that my brother tried so hard to keep hold of the television and not let it drop straight onto the concrete that he broke his wrist/thumb. His boss felt awful when the extent of my brothers injury became apparent but it turned out well for my brother because as they worked in construction there wasn't much he could do but of course the boss still payed him full wages (probably afraid of being sued, although my brother wouldn't of) and even when he went back to work it was many weeks before he could do any hard work.

I had the same TV type shit happen a few years ago. Newish tech big oled tv we bought for near $10K. Bright line suddenly appeared one day and persisted for a week or so. We picked up a normal LCD tv at Best Buy and after lifting down the OLED tv we plugged it back in before getting rid of it and it was fine. it just needed a good punch or tweak. returned the unopened LCD immediately.

Its a toss up between a 150 dollar fan and a 175 dollar custom painted 360 controller. Dropped a 30 foot long 35 inch diameter stainless steel bar stock on the ground from 5 feet in the air. Cracked 3 sections of concrete and then had to have every part made from it x-rayed to see if there were any cracks. Then managed to let one of the finished parts roll off a pallet and almost hit the plant owner's escalade. Luckily it didn't and all it needed was to have the ring groove turned, rewelded, and recut. *Inconel ring groove.* At lease I never screwed up any titanium work. One of the cuts had +/-.01 tolerance. Too far in one direction and it was a $1000 mistake.... $50,000 mistake in the other direction hahaha
