So real talk, "dry land drowning" is a term used to describe the medical complication that can come from surviving a near-drowning incident... if you get enough water in your lungs, it can basically "wash off" the protective mucus lining the inside of your lungs; at first, this doesn't have huge side effects compared to, ya know, the rest of 'almost drowning,' but as a consequence your lungs will start to over-produce mucus to try to replace the lost protection, and long story short, if you're not under medical supervision, you can develop pneumonia about 8-12 hours after a near-drowning, as your lungs start to overfill with the mucus that your body is producing to try to protect itself, and you can die with your lungs full of fluid while you've been on dry land for several hours

FUN FACT, the not so distant cousin to the inland taipan {FIERCE SNAKE} the coastal taipan is not so introverted and is aggressive beyond understanding. Victims of attacks from this snake usually only ever recall being struck once, but upon inspection by medics whilst receiving the care needed to survive, it can be seen to have bitten the victim up to 6 times. This snake will pursue people quite vigorously, and i have personally seen one sit outside a glass sliding door and wait for another chance to get its intended victim. But this is not where near as dangerous as the local Karens at hardware store during a sausage sizzle on a Saturday Morning..

Personally, Id put the Tipan as the winner, with the cone snail as an honerable mention, and the viper as the runner up. The Tipan embodies both the 'most potent venom' part and represents the viper in the most kills and highest dose. So it feels like the best "top" position holder.

You actually did hit upon the specific creature I would consider to have the deadliest venom in the world... the Geography Cone Snail. Then of course there's the Brazilian Wandering Spider, the Inland Taipan aka Fierce Snake, the Box Jellyfish, the Krait Snake and the Sydney Funnel Web. Just part of the smorgasbord of lethal animals on the planet. This also happens to be the first and ONLY truly unbiased and objective video I have seen in reference to the subject at hand. Every other video, especially those made by Australian hosts, always like to lay claim to the deadliest as their own, when in fact that usually isn't exactly and completely the case. Great job with the making of this video. I do wonder though, why there were no mentions of the Brazilian Wandering Spider or Funnel Web on this video.

People explain the difference between venomous & poisonous literally all the time.. You need to understand that some languages just have one word for both "venomous" and "poisonous". Thats why they keep mixing them up. For example: In Germany we use the word "giftig" which translates to "toxic, poisonous, venomous". People really dont care about the difference, unless english is their native language.

With my train of thought, I have to go with the Box Jellyfish as being deadliest because of the combination of it's potency, the likelihood that a human will come into contact with it, and the setting in which you get stung (swimming in the ocean which means relatively far away from immediate medical attention as well as the venom's potential to kill in about 2 mins). Very cool video! Poison and venom are very interesting things to learn about

You said "of ALL TIME." Fantastic presentation, but to live up to the title it would have been good to speculate about prehistoric venomous creatures, so here's my contribution. Factors making a potent venom necessary include (for prey) prevalence of predators, inability to reproduce in large numbers, (for predators) scarcity of food, size of prey. So it's possible to speculate e.g. a prehistoric ocean teeming with predators in which a slowly reproducing animal evolved venom more extremely potent than anything existing today. Or e.g. a prehistoric arid climate where a predator evolved to envenomate large prey rapidly and efficiently requiring large doses of very toxic venom surpassing today's animals. The most venomous of all time may have made even today's most venomous animals go pale!

Solid video! Only things I would add would be to mention how Cone Snails produce their venom, since they synthesize their venoms on the go there isn't any guarantee that it'll be the insanely potent one. And just a fact I felt was left out, but had no real impact on the video, was the mention that an antivenom was just recently discovered for the box jelly!

Vipers for sure, they have a tendency to huddle up under shade in populated equatorial regions. It's a real problem for some areas. I just don't think the average person would ever see a blue ringed octopus or box jellyfish in their entire life, but many people have come across a pit viper or something like the Sydney funnel spider. Many less toxic species are far more ubiquitous so they should definitely take that into account, which kind of is when considering the annual number of deaths in which case the video is dead on. Again with the vipers.

If you ask "which animal is most venomus?" then the aswer is clear- animal that produces the most potent venom, since that venom is most venomus. Discussion over. If you want to discuss the highest kill rate and most venom produced then you don't ask "which animal is most venomus?" but instead ask "what animal venom kills most?" or "what animal prodices most venom?".

I get what you're saying, but I'm not sure I agree. The question, "which animal is the most venomous" is different than, "which animal has the most potent venom"(though I agree things like how "aggressive" the animal is, or its proximity to humans/how many humans it kills per year are related topics, but shouldn't be figured into the question, "what is the most venomous animal?" Though I suppose the venom delivery system could possibly be considered a factor(at least if we are referring to humans specifically.) For example, what if an animal has a super potent venom, but doesn't even have enough of it to kill a rat? Is it right to say that animal is "more venomous" than say, a king cobra, who venom isn't super strong(as far as elapids go), but have/inject so much of it that they can kill thousands of mice? I kind of feel that it should be a combination of how powerful the venom is, and how much they possess(or are able to deliver.) Or, put another way, how many of a given organism(be it mice, humans, frogs, etc.)

@@Mockturtlesoup1 I get what you are saying and maybe I was too harsh in what I said.
