I saw a TED video years ago where the security expert said security checks at airports were worthless. You have to track and stop the planning, because the planning can always circumvent whatever barriers are in place.

Or we could do what Singapore does: screen at boarding. Much more efficient, much more rapid, and reduces massive crowds in front of the airports (which are much more tempting targets).

We do the same thing here in Aus, our rural airports do not undergo the same or any screening compared to our major airports for those reasons, small planes do less damage.

I got searched by the Canadian TSA on my last flight and as TSA usually is, they were very rude and accusing. The upside was when the lady asked me "what do you do for a living?" And I got to calmly reply "I'm a school librarian."

It's true TSA does fail. I know someone that got a gun on a plane because of TSA negligence. To be fair, he has white skin and had all his paperwork in order but it wasn't needed.

No screenings at small airports served by planes having 60 or fewer seats. Isn't this the way some of the people involved in 9/11 ended up being able to commandeer planes? They took off from smaller airports with less security. So, what is to prevent another terrorist from boarding at a small airport, then making connections at another airport to board a larger plane. The person would not have been checked at the smaller airport and would have full access to everything at the connecting airport. The only way this makes sense is if commuter planes are restricted to completely segregated gates at connecting airport and everyone on board the commuter plane has to go through a full security screen before entering any part of the connecting airport, even if that is their final destination.
