The aggressive favoritism that break and follow up have been getting is what has been annoying me the most, and I’m an avid follow up enjoyer. While Kafka and BS are still a respectable duo now with no new units being injected into the comp it’s sure to fall to power creep eventually. DOT just feels like a risky investment. I just want new teammates to boost the power of my beloved Kafka😭

Considering how almost every new release is meta changing i feel like next premium dot character (most likely a healer or support) will do the same for them

They're definitely worth it with investment. They seem to release 1 DOT per version so if you like DOT just save for the next version and you'll be able to get like minimum E2S1 which should be insane.

As a player who uses a DoT team as their main team everywhere, I say they’re worth it. I didn’t pull for Kafka or Black Swan in their last banners cus I already have them and didn’t really care for their eidolons… In my opinion it would be hard for Hoyoverse to bring out a new DoT dps that’ll outshine or outperform Kafka because of her DoT enabler in her kit without making the new character broken…and no, I don’t see Acheron as a DoT dps since I see her as a Crit base dps that relies on debuffs. She’s a Crit base character in the Nihility category. Hmm, the only possible way I see DoT base teams getting a upgrade would be a dedicated harmony (support) character centred around status effects (DoTs), a abundance (healer) character that heals when the enemy takes DoT damage or a preservation (shielder) character that grants allies a shield that stacks over time whenever the enemy DoT damage (yes, sort of like Aventurine’s shield stack but it’s around DoT’s not a Follow-up Attack)

Feixiao will not get better with more follow-up units. They need to be stat creep and mechanic creep. Kafka on the other hand is an enabler that can follow the strongest dot unit that gets release. Same for Robin, but to power creep robin would require a unit to have a similar kit to hers and also do follow-up atk too. Topaz is close, but she doesnt offer the level of power robin has. The power economy is a hard act to balance.

My point was every FUA unit would make Feixiao more versatile. I also don't see them releasing an FUA unit that's just objectively worse than topaz. They will make that unit either competitive to make people talk or just downright better to make people pull. As for four stars, Moze is probably the best we're gonna get for a while.

@@mooseoncaffeine Again wrong, Feixiao can not herself be more versatile. There is only two ways to boost her kit without changing it. A unit that does follow up more often or just stat boost in any Category. Outside of those two there is conversion which is stuff like turn all crit rate and damage into break dam on a weakness broken enemy or the ability to make all follow up atk does blast damage, etc. I don't see them going into something like that just yet maybe beyond 3.0, but rn is meh. Feixiao can not be versatile when her kit isnt versatile. A unit that is truely versatile is Hunt March. They dont need to outright power creep a unit to be a good pull. Perfect example and most recent on is Shorekeeper in wuwa. She carves out a niche for herself and not intrude on the other units niche which her weapon not only not just boost herself greatly, but makes a 4 star unit who was undervalued to higher heights close in line behind the best support unit. Yes this changes with more sequences(Eidolon), but that is beyond a f2p or the average persons pull limit. Try again.

This is what I imagine for a 5 star broken DOT healer. "For the first DOT applied of every character's turn, heals 20% of all characters ' HP. After the DOT healer casts their ultimate, all characters receive one time revive. Skill restores all party HP 50% plus 300 and boosts CRT rate by 40%. Any objections?

JQ isn't better than Ruan Mei for a support slot but at least at E1 he's a pretty good stand in with similar clear times, for when using Ruan Mei on a break team. DoT is just pretty high investment currently, at least E1 Black Swan is kind of a must it seems. I would have liked to get him E2, at which point he'd probably be best in slot, but I've been holding out for a dedicated DoT support and now have reason to suspect that may not happen anytime in 2.x, alas

@@polygentle5679 I threw some pulls at E2 and got an early hit but it was E2 Clara instead :p I saved the guarantee cuz I wanted Feixiao and Yanqing historically haunts my hunt banner pulls lol plus I was holding it a bit for Tingyun being DoT rather than break, cuz nihilty, but sadge

DOT almost feels 'honest' now. Its one of themaew team styles that still have their best characters need to adhere to Element weakness. Whereas Acheron, Break, Feixiao teams which are some of the strongest, they can also implant or ignore elements and break.

@discreaminant she's probably just as easy, if not easier than someone like Firefly. Firefly (as an example) needs an unspecified unlimited amount of 3 stats (SPD, ATK, Break Effect), while Kafka needs an unlimited unspecified amount of only ATK and SPD while her EHR only needs to be somewhere around 26%.

@@mooseoncaffeine for damage dealer we should also consider flooring, and in this case FF is easier to build despite requiring more stats (tbh Atk isn’t so much required cuz BE scales much better)
