When I had a life threatening asthma attack while almost nine months pregnant. It was so bad,the hospital was ready to do an emergency c section. Had a full on trauma unit ready to go. Luckily, everything evened out, I'm fine,baby is fine,and almost nine years old now

Worked a super late shift. Boss didn’t drive me home as promised. Walking home, pre cell phone era, my Walkman’s batteries had died and was about to walk into a 24 hr 7-11 on my way home to get fresh batteries with my last $4. Four guys in a car threaten and rob me of the only thing of any value I had-The four bucks. I thought they were going to beat me up for not having more money. All of a sudden I hear “Woop woop!” 🚨 Patrol car was, true to stereotype, parked outside of the Winchell’s Doughnuts across the street. I asked the uniformed officer to please forget about going after the thieves and just take me home. I still filled out a report when he was dropping me off and I don’t know if they were ever caught for that crime. They’re low-lifes so I’m sure they were arrested for something else entirely because I was never mugged again.

I had recently started working in a Subway, where they had this room sized freezer where they stored the food for the next days. We were supposed to get there, grab the stuff for the next day and put it in the fridge so it unfreezes slowly. Well, you know how this is going. The Freezer was in a top floor all over the restaurant, on an area that we only opened when the main room was crowded after two heavy doors. So once I got there, of course the door would close behind me. Not a problem, I'll just find the stuff I need and use the emergency opener to get out. Well, you can surely imagine shit was malfunctioning and didn't work. Well, that's a problem. I started panicking but I forced myself to stay calm and think. I started doing squats to keep me warm. Also tried to open the door several times, to no avail. Ok, no worries, luckily I had my phone on me because I refused to follow that stupid rule forcing me to leave it with my stuff in a place where you could potentially get stucked in a freaking cold room. AND GUESS WHAT. Well, time to fix this shit. Let's check the number of the restaurant so I can call on someone to open the door from the outside. Yup, of course, no WiFi, no data. Wait is that a single line of coverage? Well that's better that nothing, worth a try, it's not like it's a life or death situation after all. I could chill by all means. I was lucky enough to have the number of my boss so I called him and told him something along the lines of "Well I have quite the situation in here mate". So yeah, Boss called the restaurant and my coworker could get me out. So remember, kids, never follow the rules of a minimum wage job if by doing so there's the smallest chance to get yourself killed. Fuck that.

My good friend from the navy did a lot of flying in Airshows, mostly in clipped wing Cubs. He was going to fly me from Akron Muni to Put In Bay in a Piper twin. The ground crew had just gassed up the plane and everything was looking good. Not even a minute after take-off, number one started sputtering. He was going through one engine flying procedure when number two coughed and died. We were heading for public housing and/or shopping plaza. Beal made a steep right turn and got us over the end of the runway at the same time we ran out of altitude. Thank goodness the airport is lower than the surrounding terrain. No matter how much you trust somebody, be there when they're fueling your airplane.

I and 3 friends were trick or treating in our mid teens (probably my last time). In an apartment complex we knocked on one door and were invited in by the guy who answered the door. At that point he was asking his roommates or friends where the candy was, and nobody seemed to know. We got the f out of there at that point! This was the mid to later seventies btw!

I was driving near a section of highway that I knew commonly had slowdowns during rush hour. I noticed that a few cars were following pretty close so I made the decision to move to the center lane. When I got to that area about a minute later, I hear screeching tires and some impact from this that were following too closely. If I would have stayed, it would have been me involved in that. Is not so deadly, but would have been a horrible financial inconvenience from impatient people.

Worked in a restaurant in Spain. I was the only staff next to the boss of the restaurant. One day we lost power, so my boss and i went to check. It was at that moment, i found out that he wasn’t even using his own power. He was connected to the neighbors.

Winter in Seattle. They aren't really prepared for heavy snow and ice, which went from being once every 7-ish years to pretty much every year. (thanks, climate change...) The complex I was living in at the time had parking on a half-submerged underground sort of thing. And the way to it required going down a bit of a dip. Like a drop of about 8'-12' in about a half-block. Steep, you know? I'm driving at a very moderate speed, because I know there's ice out, and the car just... starts sliding right. I gently, gently pump the breaks; no good. I turn into it, not wanting to slide down backwards. That... sort of works. I'm now sliding down and to the right side of the road with the driver's door on the "front" of the car. Again I gently, gently pump the breaks, sliding closer and closer to a metal dumpster. Finally the break pumping works, and I come to a stop parallel to the dumpster, with about one foot of space between us. Yeah, I sat there for a bit to regain my nerves, thank God for letting me not ruin the car or myself, and checking out just how close I came to such a collision. Able to look over the dumpster and see my complex while I braced myself to drive the rest of the way home.
