My grandma birthed 5 babies, had a hysterectomy, got off h.r.t. because of the dang WHI study but lived to be 94. She had osteoporosis and a prolapsed bladder and rectum. Poor thing. She tried to do the bladder sling but it didn't take. She was so stoic but her bladder got to the point where it not only was poking out at times, being so painful and uncomfortable, but just didn't work. She had to wear pads all the time and dealing with it took over her life. Being a mother, really is a sacrifice.

Denise, Oh, I am so sorry for this tardy reply. The KZbin comments on my end are supposed to line up all the new ones so that I don’t have to search for them one-video-at-a-time. And most of the time, it works. But occasionally (as in this case), a comment doesn’t appear in the line-up. I apologize profusely for the delay. Every so often, I scan back through old videos to see if there are any I haven’t answered. And, I found this one! In any case, I'm glad you're good-humored about this. And you can be sure that I'll give you all sorts of options for everything. And if you ever want something sooner, you can always schedule a consultation to meet any of your needs.

Welcome aboard to "Menopause Taylor University." You'll find that if you start at the very first video (going by the number after each title), you'll understand absolutely everything. And you'll be shocked at what you didn't know, and delighted that you now do know. Each video builds on the last. It's just like school: You had to learn the alphabet before you could read. And nowadays, there are so many overwhelming misconceptions that women mistake as facts ... that you just don't know what you don't know. I respond to all comments here on KZbin daily. So, I will answer all your questions ... but I'll also know if you aren't watching the videos in order. (I'm like your mother. I have eyes in the back of my head!) And if you need me to help you tailor anything to your personal situation, you can schedule a one-on-one consultation at MenopauseTaylor.ME any time.

I don't have the sagging yet, 65. Consider myself very fortunate. I was very athletic as a kid, walked, rode my bike, ran everywhere, no second car. Walked home from school every day with a load of books 2 miles. Never drank soda or junk food growing up. Maybe genes have a lot to do with it. Never overweight. I think lifestyle has a lot to do how you age. Muscles have a memory. Use it or lose it is true.

This video made me want to cry on a deep level. I'm early 40s, have had 3 children who I breastfed for at least 1 year each, they were each around 7lbs and my placentas were about the same size as the babies. My stretching and sagging fate does not look good 😭.
@jayneread21785 жыл бұрын
I have not had any children and I have a retroverted uterus, but I have gained a little weight I have noticed that I do leak a bit but nothing drastic, presumably with me just the natural aging process and weight gain. Otherwise I'm very fit and healthy. I was fifty four and was still having my very regular horrendous periods when I started having palpitations at 2.00 am which brought with it fierce panic attacks but no hot flushes, just hot all the time. After starting my periods at 10 and having periods so painful that I had to have muscle relaxant injections it put me off having children. I decided in spite of all the negativity surrounding HRT and seeing friends suffering without it I thought I would try it to at least give me some respite in later life. So after trying 3 types, 3rd time lucky. My miserable days were finally over. This is the best time of my life for sure. I live in the UK and at 61 years old I cycle 40 miles two or three times a week to look after my 88 year old mother; activity seems to lower the stress of this particular situation. At the moment I am taking time out in Japan cycling 50 to 60 miles a day. Before HRT I began to feel very tired and my mood was very low, for me this was strange, from someone who has always been very slim, hyper-active with a happy disposition. All I can say is wild horses will not get me off my beloved HRT. Menopause does not have to be a time of dread. Life is good!

Dr. Barbie, Do you recall when “Our bodies, ourselves” book first came out? Perhaps you were too young at the time to fathom the significance of the impact of that book-way, way before the internet! It was the first time women’s health was broken down and published as a kind of user’s manual for women. I bought it for my preteen daughter because even as a teen, I was so “protected” from sexual and reproductive matters that my body was a complete mystery to me. My daughter has since reached her-own menopause and I send her your videos all the time. What a relief that we have you for the journey through menopause! You provide the menopause version of Our bodies, ourselves! Thank you so much. Please keep it coming! ❤️

Yes! Everything deflates and points down south. Its horrible!! When I started estradiol tablets 6 weeks ago, it was all doing that, sagging wrinkling, dry, etc. Now my butt has gotten bubbly again (which my husband loves) like when I was younger and my boobs have filled back up and are perky again. Yay! The strange thing is that my abdomen has started growing since taking oral estradiol. It is bigger now and it kind of makes sense because everything else is filling up. Why is that? All of my menopause symptoms have improved but my abdomen is growing. If it grows due to lack of estrogen then why did it grow when I started taking it?
@MenopauseTaylor4 жыл бұрын
All women have a redistribution of where they store fat at menopause. And we store it in our abdomen. Even if you aren't fat, you will notice a larger abdomen. But this redistribution of fat principle is part of every hormonal change in life: Puberty, Pregnancy, & Menopause.

Hi Dr. Barbie, Just brilliant as usual! Could you address frequent post coital urinary tract infections in post menopause? I imagine these too are as a result of loss of oestrogen?
@MenopauseTaylor5 жыл бұрын
Liz, Sorry for the late reply. Sometimes, the KZbin lineup of comments gets constipated or something and I miss one. I will definitely address this ... but not for a very long time. I cover things in units. And the unit on urinary problems is ages away. The best way to address this now is to have a consultation with me. I can really help you more that way than any other way. I'm in the business of educating you about everything you need to know and do in order to get exactly what you want for managing your menopause your way. So, here's how a consultation works: 1) You would schedule a one-on-one consultation at my website, MenopauseTaylor.ME, choosing a time that is convenient for you. I do consultations on Skype, FaceTime. Facebook Messenger, What’s App, and the phone. 2) I would confirm that you are scheduled for the stated time, and invite you to send me as much information about yourself as you please. You can make it brimming with details and tell me about your reproductive life, any gynecologic problems you've had, your symptoms of peri-menopause, and your symptoms of post-menopause. You can include all your fears, concerns, and goals for your menopause management. You may also send me any labs, mammogram results, bone density results, etc. that you would like me to include in designing your protocol. For instance, if you want to adhere to a certain category of management options (herbs or diet & lifestyle, or whatever), you should tell me that. I would need all these things at least 1 week before your consultation with me. 3) I'll get busy creating a document that gives you all the education you need to understand absolutely everything, points put the pros and cons of each option, and tailors it all to YOU using the information you have provided. The document will be loooooong. Most are 25 - 30 pages. 4) I will send you the document by email at least 24 hours before your consultation. You will benefit greatly by reading it in advance. Light bulbs will go off like crazy, and if you're like most women, you'll feel that you've already gotten your money's worth. 5) During your consultation, we will review the document and address any issues you want to fine tune everything and determine your best options. I'll tell you exactly how to find the right kind of professional, how to have the conversation in order to get what you want, and the nuances of things like guidelines and insurance. I leave nothing unaddressed. 6) You will go to a professional of your choosing in order to get the actual hormones or whatever you choose to use. 7) After the first consultation, I'll hold your hand (forever if you want me to). In other words, you'll be able to schedule mini-consultations (15-minute or 30-minute, in addition to full consultations) whenever you need to. I'll keep records of your situation. Most women schedule mini-consultation whenever they go to the doctor and don't understand what he or she said, or why. I translate. I make sense of everything. Most schedule mini-consultation whenever they have a new test and they want me to explain the results. And all schedule mini-consultation whenever their situation changes and they need to re-weigh and balance their options. The time you spend with me will make everything about working with any other professional so easy. And they will love the fact that you have an actual education rather than a bunch of misconceptions that you got form the Internet. If your initial hormone regimen is not right, you'll want to consult with me before going to your doctor. I can prepare you for what to expect and what to request. So, that's my role. And nobody else on earth does this kind of thing but me. So, I hope you schedule a consultation and let me hold your hand (figuratively).

At some point I went to a doctor and asked for hysterectomy, but was refused, of course. Was told I have to have a medical reason to get it done, can’t be removed if it’s healthy (strange enough, but you can donate a healthy kidney). Also, there was another reason as doctors explained: this would make my large intestine and my bladder to sag. Well, now it doesn’t sound right: bladder is at the “bottom” (so to speak) anyway and missing uterus should create less pressure on my bladder. I would like to ask a question: does hysterectomy create additional problem for bladder and large intestine to sag?

Before weight loss, I had junk in the trunk and nice solid C cup boobs. Well, much of the weight went in my boobs and butt. Saggy Barely B's and bony ass. I only hope the estrogen replacement will prevent weight gain and more sagging My bladder no longer has a uterus sitting on top of it. Nor did I have kids. Hopefully I'll avoid bladder problems.

Hi Dr. Taylor🙂 Does HRT help with collagen depletion too? Does it help retain elasticity in the skin? Or is this asking just too much?
@MenopauseTaylor2 жыл бұрын
Estrogen definitely helps maintain the collagen content and elasticity of your skin. The key is timing. If you lose collagen and elasticity by having no estrogen, starting HRT will not reverse the collagen and elasticity that you've already lost.

In fact, the "common knowledge" on this is so backward that it's impossible to right tit here in this box. But, if you watch all my videos in order, beginning with the very first one, you'll see that most of what you think about the bioidentical versus synthetic issue is completely wrong. And there are about 100 other things you'll discover you had all wrong, too. Alternatively, if you don't have time to watch a pile of videos, you can schedule a one-on-one consultation with me. @MenopauseTaylor5 жыл бұрын
Lori, As you know, my entire series of videos is educational. As with any really education, you have to learn the basics before you can learn anything beyond the basics. You can't learn to read without learning the alphabet first. Well, menopause is no different. The purpose of this video was to teach you the common threads that affect various body parts in a particular way That's what the entire set of WHAM videos from video 141 - 150 is all about. I will be addressing everything in units. That means I'll give you a whole unit on each and every disease or symptom of menopause. And the I do that, I'll be giving you each and every option for managing then in every category: Diet, Exercise, Lifestyle, Vitamins, Minerals, Botanicals, Herbs, Acupuncture, Hypnosis, Hormonal Medication, and Non-Hormonal Medications. But that will happen AFTER you have this basic information about what you have to manage with regard to your menopause. There is no way on earth I can give you all the information for these things in a single video. So, I haven't yet published videos with the management options for these things. If you want that, you need to schedule a consultation with me. Then, I can address anything you want and give you all the options, while tailoring everything to YOU. If you aren't watching these videos in order, starting with the very first one (as indicated by the number after each title), you are really shooting yourself in the foot (or the head). And, again, if you want the fast track, schedule a consultation. Alternatively, you can get my book or watch the entire 2-day seminar on DVD or as webinar chapters. It's all available at MenopauseTaylor.ME.

I will get to all of that. But, before you can even begin to think about management, you have to know what in the world is going on or has gone on to create the situation i the first place. And you an always "fast-forward" and get the entire education from (1) A one-on-one consultation, or (2) The webinars, or (20 The seminar DVD, or (4) My book. These videos are but once a week, for heaven's sake. It will take ages to get the whole education via videos alone. I will give you solutions to all these things (many different solutions) when we get to the videos on the bladder. But that won't be for a loooooong time. So, don't try to hold your urine until then. If you need to know these things sooner, schedule a one-on-one consultation. You'll get all the information AND you'll get it tailored specifically to YOU.
