Would you rather run 40's on a daily? or 35's on a daily?

35” all day. Best all around size. Still very capable

I'd only run 40's on Dana 60's.

Definately 35s. Though if I was almost only doing offroad (and could afford it) then I would choose the 40s. If I did 50/50 onroad/offroad then perhaps I would go with the 37s.

I’m planning on getting Jeep Wrangler unlimited rubicon Jl. It’s going to be my daily driver. But I’m going to put 38” tires and 3 to 4 “ lifted and plan on hit every trail is out there so that being said. Which engine do you recommend the ecodiesel or the 3.6 v6 gas ?

Just found your channel, thanks for the info! I can tell you’re speaking from experience and lessons learned. I just moved to Colorado about a year ago and I want to get something to explore all the trails. I’m highly leaning towards a jeep rubicon and leaning towards 35’s from the get go. I have a family, 3 small kiddos so I can’t be breaking the bank going to 40s. Do you think a 4 door would be okay payload wise to take a family of 5 out (small kids), with all the camping gear or possibly a small camper in the mountains of Colorado on 35’s? Would I need to regear and or tune? I considered the eco diesel but from reviews it sounds like it could be a PITA with DEF and possible malfunction/breaking of the exhaust system that sprays the DEF. Any thoughts would be appreciated! I’m also considering a 4Runner on 2” lift with 32/3’s since towing is 5k capacity but payload with Rear locker sucks at 850lb’ish. I’ve heard that payload is really when rear locker is engaged but more like 1100lb when not engaged. Price and reliability on Toyota is nice though!

If you go with the diesel. I’d put a 2” mopar lift and 37’s. You would be very happy with that combo. If you go gas still go with a 2.0 mopar lift, they come with upgraded 2.0 fox shocks and give you the clearance for most exploring. The jeep will feel safer than the 4Runner due to having straight axles. Although the 4Runner built right would do just fine. Hope this helps!

The diesel is the only way. Once you feel the how much more power it has you'd never want the gas version.

just found your page, been looking around a lot for ideas. just bought a 15 jku altitude. already found a lift for it. 4" rough country with all the control arms and track bars. still cant decide what tire size to go with. mind you it will be a daily with about a 80 mile a day round trip for work. about half highway and half city roads. considering 37's but after watching this it may a bit much. 35's seem practical, but any input would help out tremendously.

If you don’t regear. I wouldn’t run 37’s. Your 6 speed transmission won’t like it. I have the 8 speed so it doesn’t pretty well with 37’s. Why a 4”? All my rigs have had 2.5”-3.5”. 4” might look a little goofy with 35’s. Just my opinion!

@@MaxOverland well, i figured i would have to go 4'" to get 37's to fit. But, considering now only 35's, i could find something a little lower. doubt the wife would let me regear in the long run. i was actually thinking about my 07 grand, needed 4" just to stuff 33's on it. thank you for your input, it helps me to figure out which direction to go. you have any recommendations on a brand of you lift you like more than others? This is my first wrangler, so not sure what direction to go.

I think for a gladiator daily driver for mpg price etc is gonna be wither 315/70r17 or 255/85r17 which I might be getting next time. Still expensive though... 😂😂😂Nothin gis cheap with these things ever.

I’m running 37 bfg all terrains on my 22 jt rubi 6 mt. With stock gearing now for about 4 months. It’s ok in first to 3 rd but after that it lags. Needs a regear lol but doable regardless. With the jt and longer wheelbase and crappy break over I think that 37s is the happy place as far as decent on road and still capable OFFROAD . Jl 35s is fine I’d say but 37s !!!!!lol
@MaxOverland
@MaxOverland Жыл бұрын
Exactly we can run that way for awhile. But definitely needs a regear to be happy! I do love the versatility of the bfg all-terrain! Super quiet on the road and works well off-road!

@@MaxOverland yes it’s my first all terrain tire. I finally gave in and now that I’m getting older I don’t care much for excessive noise lol . And I have to say they are quiet and track really well and are so far decent in snow. Haven’t really been off road too much yet. ( need a winch ). But good to see you back and in a Jeep !!! By the way do u find that your jl drives as good on road as your gladiator? . Because my jku was soo much worse on road. The truck feels like a Cadillac compared to the jk
@MaxOverland
@MaxOverland Жыл бұрын
So funny you should ask that about the JKU vs the JT JL platform. The Jku is a pos compared to the two. I was actually going to go after a JKU. Once I drove the JL back platform. I could never go back to the brick shit house of a JKU 😂. I would say I like the ride of the JLUR better than the JTR! I’ll definitely be making a video about it.

Hey! A year later, are you still running the 37 BFG ATs? I’m thinking about getting some for my 21’ JLU Rubi with a 4 inch lift to replace my 33 BFG ATs. They’re a little on the small side for a 37in at about 36.5in. I’m hoping to not have to regear for a while. If you had to do it again, would you go with “true” 35’s or the 37 BFGs? Thanks!
