🔥 There’s one skill that separates great IT Project Managers from everyone else-project tailoring. Most project managers get stuck trying to learn every new tool and process out there. They dive deep into theories but still struggle to deliver projects on time and within budget. It’s frustrating. The truth is, great project managers don’t try to do it all-they focus on tailoring simple processes and tools that work best for their team and projects. That’s what creates transparency, predictability, and results. But here’s the thing-tailoring isn’t just guessing what might work. It’s about knowing three critical components: 1) Understanding project management on a deeper level. 2) Knowing exactly what to tailor. 3) Applying it effectively in real companies with real people. That’s why I created the Professional Development Plan for IT Project Managers-to help you master project tailoring and finally become the project manager who delivers every time, no matter the challenge. ✅ Click the link below to get your development plan now and take the next step toward mastering project management. itpmschool.com/get-plan?

Do you think "Leadership" is a sort of Meta Skill (=motivating + communicating + problem solving + diplomacy)? I think I am very good at those, except motivating in which I am just medium.
@ITProjectManagers5 жыл бұрын
No, leadership is not a meta skill. It's more of a superstructure over all the rest. All project managers want to finish a project successfully But only a leader will put it as a compelling goal. For example, you'll get a goal for the team to become the best team (or service) in the company while finishing projects successfully. The goal can be different. Nevertheless, it's something that people are interested and they want to follow you to achieve it in the project of doing their ordinary duties. Sometimes, you need a great goal to accomplish great thing. Sometimes you need great goals to keep people interested in routine work. So, as for me leadership is that "extra" layer that make work for people you manage interesting and engaging. While motivation is something on a lower level of Maslow's hierarchy:)

@@ITProjectManagers Ok, thanks for taking the time to answer my question.

@@gjmh2011 I would say that being a leader is having a combination of the relevant skills you have mentioned under the belt, and to be able to apply the necessary skill timely. The leader's authority is something that is being earned with time. However, initially people need to want following you. Yes, it will be possible to set up high expectations further, but initially we need to earn the authority to do so.
