Agree with Cooper, it was a Tilapia. Good eating fish, but didn't know they were invasive here is Australia.

Ohh, are they good eating? Yeah some people introduced them into Aus as aquarium fish, but they got illegally released into qld water ways! Thanks for watching!

Hey toby, great video mate. The fish is a tilapia, and are illegal to release, exactly like carp.

well now I know for next time…. I feel annoyed at myself now. Anyway, thanks for helping me out. And thanks for watching! Edit: I forgot to say, I know what a tilapia is… I just didn’t know what they looked like. I wouldn’t have released it if I knew it was a tilapia..

@@TobysfishingNoutdoors It’s all good mate, it’s not your fault, you didn’t know. If your ever unsure of a species, you should do this. If you have a net, place the fish in the net and keep it in the water after taking a clear photo of it. Then open the google app and click on the google lens button, and you can insert the photo and google will tell you what it is. Unfortunately, this only works if you have mobile date or internet.

Wow, I didn’t know that about the google thing… I don’t actually have a phone, but I rarely fish alone (and if I am, I’m never far away from mum or dad) so they could do it for me.

@@dant-h-fp9qe a jungle perch is found in Far north Queensland only (FNQ), they are AWSOME fighting fish and they love top water. I sadly haven’t caught one yet. Thanks for watching, hope you enjoyed!
