i’m almost positive there will be a massive outbreak and students will be sent home before the fall semester even ends. i feel like schools should NOT have put the responsibility of how covid will be handled in the students hands bc we’ve been isolated for months now. i feel like it’s an attempt to make as much money as they possibly can and it’s not in the best interest of students or teachers AT ALL. i feel bad for freshmen who are looking forward to being on campus for the first time, just to get it ripped away. for people still deciding on going, i’d personally stay home. it’s not going to be this amazing experience that all the other students in previous years got to have bc covid exists and there are guidelines. i know it sucks but i’d recommend staying home until spring semester (if the option is given to you) and wait for a treatment.

As a fellow rising high school senior: You are lucky... my school is starting virtually and I can’t escape my house so I have to learn at home. Right now I have no hope that I will go back to school in person because of the expectations in cases that we have to meet in order to slowly reintegrate and the fact that not everyone is willing to abide by the rules set in place. And school starts in 2 weeks. The real frustrating part is that club sports are going on right now as normal (which is good because I would be even more depressed if they weren’t able to) and that school sports are only being pushed back until after Labor Day... so hopefully we will have fall sports. I struggle to learn at home and am taking hard classes as well. We originally had an option to do hybrid, fully online or in person but two weeks ago they took the options we had away and everyone is being forced to start virtually. It sucks.

The couples, the people who think they're "cool," and the friends who've missed each other so much would just mess it up for the rest of us cause how tf you gonna socially distance teens 6 feet during breaks, lunch, etc. And how would lunch work?? It's all kinda sad but it's for the better

Nope! not going... Differed my admission for a year. Im not waiting until the kids start dropping like flies to make the most important decision of my life because I would rather keep my life. College won't mean anything if I am dead because my brick and mortar university is more concerned about their bottom line. In addition, the entire experience is so watered down that it doesn't even make sense at this point. No welcome events, parties, or gatherings of any kind. Its turned into a huge shit show with everyone in single rooms and many rooms per floor will be closed off leaving many returning students housing insecure. Basically, the way they have planned this is you arrive, get your key, your ID will be delivered to you, and you start your hybrid learning. And the worst part; absolutely zero visitation (for obvious reasons) and the semester is over the week before thanksgiving. If I would only be allowed to attend classes twice a week then basically I would just be a prisoner in my dorm room 5 days out of that week until thanksgiving. Since there will be no social events or activities. Clubs and Orgs have been suspended for the first semester and there is no guarantee any activities or sports will even happen for the following semester. For these reasons (and a myriad of others) I have chosen to sit this year out. Just praying I will only have to sit out 1 year and not any time longer 🙏🏾

I relate to the extremes of fear and excitement combined for sure! My school just pushed our move in day about two weeks. I am excited to start college, but I am lucky to be in a loving household, and I feel sympathy for people in toxic homes who might have to stay home. I am also a rising freshman and excited for that, but my parents are older and I don’t want to spread the virus to them. I believe our campus will try their best, and lots of people in my grade are on board for all of the safety precautions, but a few rotten apples can ruin the whole bunch. Also great point about the learning differences and styles, since my sister and I both have one and that is going to be a large factor. It was sad to have the end of my senior year not be with all of the stuff I was excited for, but at least I won’t truly know what I’ve missed, and what you said, make the best out of the situation. I think that is the best thing we can truly do. 😊

Unless your school has added fine print to your contracts or students/professors start dying, then there is literally no way a lot of them can afford to send people home for two semesters and lose out on millions of dollars. Quit being so melodramatic and let people live.
@bobodbest14 жыл бұрын
Certified Platinum if you saw what happened at liberty university during the spring semester, they were the only school that didn’t close in the state of VA. About a dozen students caught it within two weeks. After that they were forced to shut down because the school was being hit with lawsuits from students left and right. Thru said the school failed to properly protect student and some of them won. If people die it’ll be even worse.
@CertifiedPlatinumx4 жыл бұрын
Bodurin Ogunnupe The difference is that was the the spring semester when the virus was only in the US for maybe 2 months? During the spring we barely had any protective measure such as masks, distancing requirements etc so of course more people would get it. Also, do you know how many schools lost millions because they had to refund charges and cancel events? It’s fall now. The virus has been going on for months and schools know it isn’t that deadly for students and they have set up protective measures to reduce the spread. Not saying it’s “‘morally right” but most schools just can’t afford to keep them home for fall/send them home (and if they send kids home during the fall I highly doubt they will reopen AGAIN in the spring) unless the unlikely happens. Kids are going to party but most likely they aren’t going to die. Which means at worst, they’ll change everything to online and keep students on campus (and if there’s an outbreak at school.... it would be a terrible idea to send thousands of students back home across America to spread the virus to people in their hometowns).

I am honestly so furious about how my school is handling everything. I go to SUNY Adirondack in upstate New York. My college didn’t reimburse the students with the full amount they should have gotten back. They packed your items in the dorm up for you and either kept them over the summer, mailed them to you, or you did curbside pick up. Now I am going back to campus as an RA in the fall and it’s going to be completely different. Masks must be wore at all times unless you are alone in your room. Events will only be for each floor, classes are “hybrid” so zoom and online with labs in person, the library will be open by appointments only, and you can’t have any guest nor are you allowed to stay the night elsewhere. My boyfriend graduated this past semester and lives far away thus meaning we can’t see each other for the whole semester if I want to keep my job. I can’t have people in my room even if they live in the dorms and my suite will include one other person rather than 3 other people. I can only have one person there to help me move in. The campus is “attempting” to make things work for the fall but as I have seen with the students on campus so far, these rules will NOT be followed. Then we will be right where we started. There’s no way to correctly handle this situation but all the rules sadly means many students will be unhappy and/or not returning to campus/dropping out. Wish me luck, I’m going to need it! Also I love your videos! I watched them before becoming an RA and still now. You seem really cool!

I don't really know what to do. I'm an incoming freshman and going to school out of state. My school has the option to do full online and stay off campus or do a hybrid style on campus. I'm not really feeling online school but I know I could make it work and I'll have a place to stay if I choose that route, however, not paying room and board my first semester could significantly affect the scholarships and aid I've received, and paying for school was already going to be a struggle. Even though there haven't been any reported cases on campus and everyone moving in will be tested first, I could get sick, I could get someone else sick, and I could end up having to move right back out because of some crazy outbreak on campus. I don't know if it's worth the risk to stay on campus or if I can afford to stay home. 🤦🏾♀️

I’m still trying to figure out how colleges are about to enforce these new rules and regulations. Like you trying to preach this to a group of people that will eat soy sauce and ketchup packets for dinner. We a different breed. Lol. Like I care and will do what I need to do but the level of unbothered that most students are on is crazy

Since I live in NY state, I feel like going back to school will be a smoother transition. My school district is already planning going back in Sept - we're likely doing a mixture of online and in person. They had us - mostly parents - take a survey about returning to school and next week they're releasing their plans on their site. I can't learn online very well, so i hope to go back even if it's partial

i will do anything for things to go back to normal. i will quarantine for another few months, do online school, stay in my house, anything i just want things to go back to the way they were :( i personally enjoyed online school a lil bit since more sleep, not worrying ab judgement from others n seeing ppl, and not worrying ab being in dress code (i go to a private school with a hella strict uniform), but i also have a shit ton of social anxiety and i thought it was bad before this whole corona thing started :,) not seeing people for a couple of months has caused me so much anxiety i was so anxious that i was struggling to even leave the house just to go to the grocery store just bc of the thought of people seeing me. seeing even my closest of friends gives me anxiety n panic attacks which those cause me to puke and i've puked so many times from being anxious oh my god my mental health has gone downhill with being quarantined and the thought of going back to school just makes me anxious n worried in general cuz seeing people n stuff but the thought of going back to school DURING A PANDEMIC freaks me the fuck out it's honestly just layers of worry for me

I'm a senior in hs right now and it's a disaster. We haven't had any of our regular events thus far and rather than spending my final weeks chilling with my friends and enjoying my last month in hs, I'm spending it stressing over work cause teachers are trying to cram everything in, and don't get me started on college stuff. Because schools got so many more applicants this year plus the fact that about 25% of accepted students are people who took a gap year last year, the process was so much more competitive and there were a few schools where I should've gotten in but didn't because there were just too many people and not enough spots to go around. It sucks and now I have to settle for a school I don't necessarily want to be at because it's the only feasible option left.

Hi Rumi! Love your videos! I'm actually pretty scared to go back to school honestly...scared not because I'm afraid of being on campus- I think myself to be a pretty responsible person and citizen. But scared for the people around me (where they've been, etc) and generally what I can't control. The best thing I can do for my health and safety (and my family's) is to take precaution by staying at home and slowing the curb of the virus.

i’m a rising high school senior, and i personally am really worried college might look for me in the future. i think that being home with family all day is bringing some closer together while others are splitting and showing true their colors. mine is unfortunately the latter, and my father has always been pretty emotionally abusive. For years, college and moving out has been my beacon of hope and the possibility that it could just go away, if colleges determine that in person classes aren’t sustainable, is terrifying. Obviously many colleges have a plan already and plenty are using hybrids or full in person models just with social distancing guidelines. but my worry is, like you said, that the students who go to college this year might not actually take those rules seriously. i don’t know if i trust us😂. what if that means everyone is sent home? schools don’t want to be held liable? very scary stuff indeed.

In my high school we are actually doing “blended learning “ which they separate the students into two groups and have those two groups go in school is different days of the week . However if you don’t feel comfortable going to school they have an option to go full online . I didn’t realize people didn’t have the option to choose how they want to return to high school

Damn it really sucks my school went fully online instead of hybrid. My highschool senior year was a mess (senior trip cancelled, yearbook online, prom cancelled, graduation was a drive in, etc.) and now im heading to college in the fall but taking online classes. I wonder how ill be making friends since campus is closed. Also online learning really does suck :( im no auditorial learner at all :/
@bridget31634 жыл бұрын
I on both sides. I want to stay home but I KNOW, I will not learn ANYTHING. If I go to school aka. college there really is no point because all my classes are online and I will most likely spend the shortened fall semester (August-November for my school) in my dorm.... personally I think any place other than home is better for me :/
@Soda.Pop014 жыл бұрын
As being part of the graduating class of 2020, graduation was celebrated in different ways. Right now I'm still concerned about students who also have health conditions, toxic households and educators who will are at risk as well being forced to go back to teach students. My High School is going online and handing out materials such as laptops and packets for class requirements. The same goes for textbooks. The college I'm attending to this fall is based on the students' decision. I do feel bad for some students who are moving into dorms because what if a student unknowingly could be infected? That's the scary thing about this whole situation.

Hey so I am so excited to go back to campus and all of that but I’m really nervous because I have asthma + other medical conditions (super nervous ). Also I will be moving out of my parents house for the first time and be living off campus housing with one roommate which makes it even more nerve wrecking cause she said she will be going to campus a lot and having a lot of interaction with people .... so I’m like freaking about that. Also, on top of all of this ...... I will be doing majority online classes but I’m a visual learner myself so it’s pretty difficult to grasp the knowledge virtually , myself. Soooooo YEAH I’m freaked out. Also... the fact that half the student body is prob not gonna actually follow the social distancing rules. 😟

Gabriella Cattani as a senior who graduated 2020 this past May we also didn’t get a lot of the senior events, I understand where you are coming from. With this being said you are not the only one. Keep in mind the freshman that are starting high school or freshman in college or those who are graduating from college. They also not going to get the full experience. Students doing internships will also look different. Sports are not going to feel the same either. Situation are changing and nothing is going to be the same as it was for the past graduates. I’m sorry that you might not get the full senior experience.

I just feel like that schools should probably do some sort of hybrid - schooling because yeah you do have the chance for social distancing then but you still can have in person classes. Like for me I'm majoring in Culinary so I've got no idea how we would be able to do that 100% online and I was a Senior in high school last year when this all started and I took an upper level culinary class not knowing that it was going to go 100% online in March and that didn't work out very well during that time. I still got an A in the class but it wasn't the same learning style and that made a big difference for me on what I got out of the class P. S. This is the first time that I've commented on a video and I'm glad that it was for something that I'm passionate about and for someone that I've looked up to and taken advice from and trust I love you Rumi please keep doing what your doing and making more content like this.

I think that most people feel really excited to go back especially freshmen. Im going to start college in probably like October and i have no idea if it's going to be online or not but hopefully it's hybrid because i can't learn that much online, i feel like online it's just a way for us to procrastinate
@claired.19684 жыл бұрын
Hey I know I’m pretty late but I’m going into 8th grade and I’m a lot younger than most of the people commenting, so I have a bit of a different opinion. My school is doing hybrid and we can choose distance if we want. Like that last girl in the video said, I’m scared but also excited. I miss my friends, teachers and classmates. But I don’t think that we’ll be very safe in school. Like I don’t trust the sixth graders to not lick their hands and chase us screaming Corona. Also our hallways are no where close to six feet wide, and I don’t think it’s possible for us to social distance. I also know that a big argument is our mental health, but the experience of going to school might be even more stressful while wearing a mask and being six feet apart, especially for younger children. So I think hybrid is a good choice for kids who have trouble learning online, but I’m nervous that it might be worse because numbers aren’t looking good, and I don’t think we’ll be able to do hybrid for long. There are high schoolers at my school too. It’s got two campuses one for middle/high school and one for elementary. I also know that the older kids can spread the virus more like adults( I’m pretty sure it’s just high schoolers) which is why I’m more nervous, because it could spread so fast with the high schoolers at our campus, if there was an outbreak, which is very possible. I think that my school made a good decision. But I’m pretty concerned about our school fitting the guidelines, being in Minnesota, where going outdoors or having class outdoors isn’t going to be an option a lot of the time because it will be so cold. So yeah.

Loved your video! (I know I'm late...but your vid popped up on my page and I watched a few more!! Also subscribed😊) But I honestly agree with your friend who first spoke. I'll be a freshmen this fall and recently as we get closer I'm still seeing a ton of Gen Z idiots out partying saying it's corona time which is honestly really disgusting and hurtful seeing how many people have died young and old. Like this doesn't only effect boomers it effects kids, young adults, and teens. So while yes the majority of Boomers are racist, the majority of Gen Z clearly don't understand social distancing or the actual effects of covid19 and how it affects others around them. They're going to cancel everybody's experience so I'm slightly giving up hope 🥴

my college has like 40,000 students and although a lot of people are doing online or taking the semester off, that’s still thousands of students from different parts of the country (or different countries) being surrounded by each other. There’s also talk that we won’t be allowed to leave campus (🥴❓). we’re gonna get sent home real quick. they just want us there for as long as they can keep us so they can charge the same amount for tuition.

Something I haven’t noticed people really talking about recently is teachers If a teacher in a school shows any symptoms of COVID, they’re going to have to stay home and substitute teachers will replace them. The substitute teachers might also show symptoms. Eventually, they’re going to run out of substitute teachers and they’ll have to close the school again temporarily

My college is actually doing what Danny was saying. I and a lot of people are all for it, but its just a matter of how people respond to and follow the rules put in place. I am also grateful to both live and attend college in one of the few states that are pretty stable in terms of Covid. All in all, my state and my college are both making the right moves (of course that's subjective though) its just one of those "we'll see" type beats.

I don’t live with an abusive parent or family at all, but I do get a great deal of anxiety when I’m not with my friends. not being able to be around found family who understand me and truly to me and instead being forced to stay in the same home with people who would rather ignore my existence or find something to be annoyed about me makes me want to cry. and college is the only way I can get repeated mental healthcare, as well. I'm an upcoming high school senior and I know its selfish of me but I am planning on going back once it opens up. I thought about it long and hard and had my family give me their thoughts on going back. we made a game plan for our safety. My school is mandating masks and taking their own safety precautions but I still was nervous and feeling guilty so my family and I decided to go back on a trial basis. If I go back and no one is wearing masks or social distancing, If I feel like things aren't being properly cleaned and disinfected, or even if I just feel unsafe for any reason then I'm switching straight to online learning. I'm lucky enough to go to a small school that is trying to keep things safe for kids to come back and I don't know how it's going to go but I want to give it a try. It's a hard decision because I know what's right and what I should do but i also know what i want. I kind of wish we weren't given the choice to go back at all. It would have been upsetting but at least i wouldn't be feeling like such a selfish, guilty bitch.

Me thinking why not do online school before Christmas then see how it is after. Also thinking how much I learned online 😬 Being honest it’s going to SUCK for someone. If we do go back then there’s the problem for spread through families and fear. Lots of people will be confused and possibly can’t continue for school cause of finances. And if we don’t have the questions answered now then in my opinion it’s just a time crunch.
