I turned down negotiating on a T5 I found at a swap meet this weekend because it did not pass the 17mm input shaft test. The poor old sap trying to sell it to me for $400 bucks started to get upset when I told him it was a 4 cylinder T5 and not a v8 world class T5 like he was leading me to believe. Thanks for making this informative video Dan, you should have way more subscribers to your channel. I will always remember this part of your video while looking for t5's 10:36 WHOOP...WHOOP!!!

30ish years ago I built a 302 with 289 heads and headers and used a turbo coupe T-5 and I was told to use the pilot bearing for an '8w Ford Courier pickup. It worked well considering T-5's weren't something you could find everyday but the rear 2.73 gear required shifting early due to the turbo coupe having higher a gear ratio. For a mild V8, it'll work in a pinch until you can get it upgraded or replaced.

Lx seats with. Brocken driver seat rail but rails are identical both pass n driver side so I took seats out of. A 94 sn95 with sport black n grey electric driver seat n put on the fox pass manual rails on the driver side only as I could not move the rails forward to access the rear 15mm nuts holding it down..the front bolts line up perfect rears bolt holes position are about 1 in longer from the fox original bolt holes on the rails so all it needs is drilling 2 holes out to match holes on the bottom seat assembly... I'm going back to get the cross member n drive line n clutch cable at least. . damn. Thx Dan. I'm watching this video again n again for me to remember next time I see a 5spd manual 4 cyl fox.

I bought a steel/ aluminum bearing retainer for a V8 T-5 and it fit perfectly on my I4 T-5 out of a 85 SVO Mustang. As far as I know, the 85 T-5 out of an SVO mustang is the only exception.
@Neomustangs4 жыл бұрын
SVO , 4cyl and V8 retainers are not the same.
@nathenperri28264 жыл бұрын
@@Neomustangs I don't usually reference forums, but a few people on Turboford said the 85 SVO T-5 is the only four cylinder T-5 that the V8 T-5 bearing retainer can be used on. I bought the FMS-M-7050-A. I measured up and down that retainer with calipers and compared it to the old retainer, and all the measurements where exactly the same. I do know the difference between the I4 and V8 retainers is primarily the depth of the retainer where the bearing race resides. The retainer fit on perfectly. Maybe there is something I am missing. Correction: I got the info from www.svoca.com. one of the members referenced Hanlon Motorsports as the primary source of the Info of the bearing retainer fitting. Apparently, they only fit because it is a World Class with a different first gear than all the other four cylinder T-5s. One member even mentions he bought four cylinder T-5 that had the steel retainer already on it that the previous owner had used.

Neomustangs and not for nothing, I put the bearing retainer from the four-cylinder T5 onto the V8 t5 and it fit just fine. As a matter of fact the input shaft on the V8 ended up with the same amount of slack that was in the four-cylinder when I got it. The bearing retainer that I’ve had on the V8 isn’t very old. it tightened up the SVO input shaft nicely. Retainer was torqued to 20 foot pounds and transmission spins like butter
