The more we 'live' for the world, the greater the 'strife' I enjoyed your sermon on the reality of fear, it does create a 'false reality' Most of the things we worry about 'actually never really happen' but at the time of worry, fear can get you in a total head lock! One verse I particularly like is: #Psalm 34:19 "The righteous person may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all;

I had anxiety, fear and hopelessness after reading the bible in earnest and sincerely the first time I seriously tried to be a Christian. I was sick with mono, bronchitis, high fever and thought I was going to die so I started reading the bible and prayed for salvation. That was when I was 19 years old Im 65 years old and have tried to rededicate my life to Christ several times. Its extremely hard to try to read the bible after praying for help in understanding but I still have a horrible time it may be the worst thing for anyone to go through. Imagine not being able to read the Bible very good, and getting anxiety and depression from sincerely reading and trying to get the true meaning. And sincerely wanting to be a good Christian.I remember when I was in my mid-20-s I rededicated my life to Christ at a Baptist church and it didn't take long before I was misunderstanding and extremely discouraged and distraught from reading the Bible. I have cried probably cupfuls of tears over the years in my quest to understand Christianity. I had to cherry pick some verses that has helped but its always a struggle . Why would someone be tortured by not being able to understand the bible properly. Lots of mind battles, sinning in my dreams and feel like I'm guilty of sinning, having evil thoughts when thinking about Jesus sometimes. How would it be possible to have confidence in your salvation when your being plagued by all this. Easier said than done, you have to go through it before your can totally understand the grief and agony. Is there any hope that the Heavenly Father and Jesus will help me and give me peace in my heart and reassurance of my salvation? Ive been searching my whole life for the truth of salvation . Repentance is always painful when attempting causing anxiety I thought the Lord would be pleased Im trying to turn from my sins not that I could earn it , I know it is like filthy rags but you must repent and carry your cross! If the Holy spirit was in me could it still produce these horrible reactions and feelings.
