SciShow Tangents...seriously!! podcasts.apple... or wherever you get your podcasts!!
The Arizona State University collaboration is so exciting because it's really made clear to me a lot of failings of higher education. There are SO MANY PEOPLE whose higher ed experience involves loans but no degree. There are better ways to do this...to include more people, to lower costs, to lower barriers to knowledge. It's super exciting.
Also, for the people who got this far...yes, I do occasionally have a meeting about whether my books could ever someday be turned into a TV show or something...but as you probably have learned by now...that means nothing!!! Right now, it's just a fun time for people to tell me how much they like my work :-).
And for people who got THIS far...I messed up my camera settings...sorry it looks weird...

As a person who's "laserlike focus" comes and goes, or rather, is sporadic and spotty at the best of times, I feel you... Having many times too many irons in the fire, I've come to reckon with the reality that "perfect" or even "very close" is often well out of reach... I do things WELL... No more and no less. That's the goal, and sometimes there must be consideration given for "all things considered" and/or "for what I had to work with"... BUT I simply seek to do things "well", not half-assing the effort because "who cares?" or "what does it really matter?"... I just seek to finish each project with something I'm not outright ashamed to put my name on. Sometimes, the project is about to turn into a joke... SO I lean in and OWN the joke. I'll make it the FUNNIEST joke I can make it in the time allotted and with the materials I have left! ...if they're going to laugh anyway, I might as well put them on the FLOOR! If you want or need any wisdom/advice, for what it's worth. Such is mine. It's served me for the better over most of my life... "Seek to do things WELL." ...and that's all. ;o)

Thanks so much for your comment! Growing up, I always had a different answer every time someone asked the question "what do you wanna be when you grow up?", and I always thought I that was because I just wasn't sure about what I wanted. But seeing your comment, and having heard Hank talk about all the different things he does and has been doing over the years made me realize that the reason I've never had a definite answer to the "what do you wanna be" question isn't that I just don't know, but that I want to do lots of things! I truly never thought about that being even a possibility before, and even though I've been diagnosed and trying to make life work with ADHD for a couple of years now, your comment made me understand myself a whole lot better than I ever had before. So thanks again, from a person who's currently enrolled in two full-time studies, playing in two different orchestras a week and participating regularly in activities they've helped organanise for the student association they're involved with. 🤗

One of the most important pieces of advice I've gleaned from vlogbrothers is that "you can do so much but you cannot do it alone". I don't know who said it, but it's the truth. Everything truly great is done through cooperation, so I hope you're getting the help where you need it!

Hank, you mentioned pelican tiktoks here once. Which made me breakdown and download the app . Aaaaand now I’m much more aware of my mental health and I’m seeing content from amazingly diverse creators that I would never have seen elsewhere. Thanks.

This is how I function best, too! Juggling too many things with a bit of stress, but also knowing that everything will work out. When I only have one or two or three things to juggle, I drop them all. This is why I have difficulty functioning at a 9-5 job.

As someone who finally learned this year as an adult that I have ADHD while struggling with the prison of perfectionism, it helps me to see someone so successful end their video with the affirmation that so much can be done, even if it’s not perfect. It makes me want to try to do more.
