The Row is not trying to be frivolous, girly, whimsical or pretty. They are meant to be classic. Timeless. Elegant. Stylish, clean and minimalist, It's not for everyone. I absolutely detest charms and scarves on bags. I find it too fussy but great for those who love it. I absolutely love The Rows' fashion aesthetic.

I’m older, in my 50s, and I just assumed they preferred no distractions at the show. Back in the day the shows were less about being seen and more about the critique and buying/merchandising for retailers. We’d see pics through articles that also had commentary on the collection. Many fashion influencers I find on insta are sharing pics of themselves or in groups and don’t talk much about the actual collection. I’m not a Row fan girl or anything like that but I don’t agree that they should start accessorizing their bags. It’s the opposite of their aesthetic and concept. Additional straps add hardware and the hardware on their bag is minimal. I love the quirky charms/tricks of LV and Prada but don’t think that’s the Row at all. Dior is also more flamboyant and girlie with an edge than the Row, which is more Gentlewoman.

I was under the impression that the ban from using phones was to avoid leaks. I mean, they always release the official photos anyways. What's the big deal? And in the screenshot it says "it looks like COS." Because COS borrows heavily from The Row. I don't think they're snobbish, honestly. I think they prefer the real life experience so going to the stores to feel the clothes and not using smartphones to take a closer look at the runway shows. It's also weird that you change your opinion quickly because of what others feel. It might mean The Row is not for you. Just because you like it then another person says it's boring and you quickly change means you have low conviction. Just enjoy the clothes if you like it no matter what another person tells you, it's a piece of fabric. As long as the quality doesn't decline and the suppliers and workers who make the clothes are treated well, it's ok for me. I mean, Loro Piana has been exposed for its shady tactics with their suppliers.

Agreed, the charms and making it more fun will change the entire aesthetic of the brand. The main issue is their recent cuts and proportions are a bit off. Minimalism can work but the cuts have to be precise and the combinations of shapes to create an item well thought out.

People buy The Row simply because they are discrete luxury without all the loud paraphernalia. Also it’s not for everyone. People who like the aesthetic will buy. They don’t care about the rest. And that’s how it should be.

Isn’t the premise of The Row is clothing that are basic but high quality on a minimalist design… They’re not about setting a trend; they just want to supply extremely good quality clothing/accessories that are timeless. Can I afford The Row? No but I like that they are influencing other designers/manufacturers to step it up a notch when it comes to quality fabrics and construction. Things cost too much for an item to be poorly constructed, no matter what economical level a person is at.

I just don’t understand humanity in 2024. While walking my dogs, my husband and I saw a Fendi’s publicity in which they promote their leather school…meaning you pay them to teach you a skill, and then maybe they will hire you for “monetine”. Mind you we are in Toscany and leather goods are part of the history and not too long ago companies would hire you and teach you to be an “ artigiano”. Honestly you could get a good leather bag made in this region but now I wonder for how long it will be like that. It seems people just want a brand name so it maybe why companies are changing.

this is different. its their art/creative direction and ownership over their work. im a fan and large consumer of their work and also a designer. if i spent months designing a collection and production and staging a show, why is it an issue that I also want to control how its seen, presented, and consumed? they shot it beautiful in a warmly lit space on film with beautiful interiors and objects staged with the looks vs sloppy shaky instagram videos of these clothes. instead of no imagery at all, it would be interesting if this was pre shot so journalists could have a press package. and have a live artist illustrating looks as they came down.

It’s a business, also a successful one. The new luxury seems to be treating customers like dirt and customers willingness to pay for this treatment. All are at it, quality has dropped but prices have increased. Fools are paying money to get into a club they really don’t want to belong to
@beautybonvoyage86243 ай бұрын
I don't think CHARMS and making it more fun is the issue. This has to do with the cut and overall design of their items. You can still do minimalist but more appearing styles. Hermes birkins is a simple desgn but they do different colors, sizes, and such that it still doesn't look boring while being timeless. I think recent Row styles isn't just about being discrete but the way in which some of their new clothes are CUT and FIT is looking a bit unflattering. It's about finding the right balance and proportions. They don't and aren't going to make their stuff more 'fun'. In fact, I think too many brands are too focused these days on chasing fast fashion trends to the point where they are just creating waste products for people to overconsume. The Row just needs to get back into visually balancing their designs instead of looking too much now like an old crazy bag lady on the streets vibe. Modern minimalist is their thing and that's okay. As long as the quality is top tier they can keep justifying the prices but if it's just an OKAY quality then yeah, that's a marketing gimmick where they can calm down a bit with.
@ladygothic76996 ай бұрын
I know I could never afford The Row, so I feel I can say this…they have a spot in Haute Couture. That’s damn near as high as any fashion brand can go. Haute Couture is for a few. It’s a club you are allowed entry to. That’s not a lot and mainly aimed at … older, richer players. That’s their style.
@brunonjezic62086 ай бұрын
I would really hate they add spices to their bags. Really like those designs you should. As per runway policy it seems like you got this really personal. @MarinaNekrasova-y4e6 ай бұрын
Btw the row doesn’t have an exceptional quality. I've had several items from them and all not of the highest quality. The bag wasn't equally matte in all places, and it's straight from a boutique. The leather on the sandals cracked on the sides in just a few months. All of these things you get for thousands of dollars.
@victorialaykther30386 ай бұрын
I'm in favor of paying more for good basic items that are going to last but it has to make sense in terms of cost per wear. In the case of The Row, it just doesn't. If i want a well made durable T-shirt, I can buy it at Tommy Hilfiger or Hugo Boss for much less. Also I don't think that the proces at the row can be justified by the labor or amterials it took to make them. A basic cotton T-shirt, with no embroidery, lace etc.. it not that hard to make and shouldn't cost hundreds of dollars.

If their aesthetics do not sustain your enthusiasm, then its not for you. The reason I think that they keep it minimal and simple is, plainly, because its The Row. Its their artistic direction. Plus if they do dabble in more hardware and accessories (ie. cute charms, jesus christ and mary save us), they would look tacky and generic. There is beauty in simplicity, and very few appreciate this.

Here is my point of view on their “no filming” rule. IF they were having a videographer set up to video the entire show and then showcase that on their website, I could get on board with this. Since no such thing was done, I think it’s a jerk move. In my opinion, if they don’t want me to see their product, I don’t want to buy it. Perhaps after a couple of seasons of stagnant and dropping sales they will learn their lesson. Seriously, how exclusive do they think they are? Can we all say “ego trip”?
