Drew, you’re doing an incredible job helping your parents. We, being the general public, forget the devastation lasts much longer than a news cycle. And, then to think you’ve got your own traveling home to think about. Your indomitable spirit is amazing.

I feel like people watch the news when disasters hit, talk about it for a few days but don't always truly understand the devastation and months/years ahead of clean up & rebuilding & what it entails on so many levels. I'm disabled & there is no way I'd be able to what you are doing to clean up. Mid 2000's I was stalked and the guy burnt down my home with me in it. I was initially devastated to lose everything & badly burnt. All these years later, there are a few memories I wish I had but most of it was just stuff. There's hope 🫶

We went through Francis and Jeanne back in 2004. I was pregnant and trying to clean out a fridge filled with food and maggots after not being able to get to our house for 2 weeks was a memory I'll never forget or be able to unsee. We watched our landfill grow 4 new mounds in a few weeks where the existing 2 mounds were 20 years old. It was heartbreaking. Watching your videos brings back so many memories. Please make sure to find the good in each day. The destruction can get to you. Every little triumph make a big deal about. It will get you through each day. I helped in Port Charlotte with Operation BBQ a few weeks ago. It's a small thing, but they delivered the most meals during the month they were there out of all the relief projects they have done since 2011. I want to say it was like 850k meals. All together over 10 million meals served. Thank you to everyone helping cleanup and rebuild this area.

Thank you, guys for giving us a greater in-depth report on what's happening in the aftermath of a major hurricane. As you know, the media is all over the story immediately after a catastrophe but never show the long-term impact on the lives and situations people have to contend with. I'm so sorry for what your parents have had happen to them and their neighbors. We in the mid-west have to contend with tornadoes but this storm was so much more devastating to a larger area. Bless you and stay safe!

It looks like a lot of progress is being made at your parent’s home. They have such a great attitude. Even being a native Floridian myself and being aware of the dangers of hurricanes this still didn’t quite prepare me for what I saw happen to Ft Myers beach area. The media is in and out . What you are showing us - the aftermath and the immense amount of debris you have to deal with is unimaginable. The daily work required to get back to normal looks exhausting. Thanks for sharing your home cleanup, the care stations where you can shower and get some food as well as the general public cleanup efforts going on. It’s so much more than having your hurricane emergency preparedness kit ready ! Take care.

Having gone through a flood I can tell you that “rising water dreams” will follow you for many years. I would encourage you not to try saving all those photos. Chances are you never looked at them when they were in albums and baggies anyway. What will happen is that they will stink and continue to rot no matter what you do. A whiff of that smell will send your mind right back to the trauma of the flood and the weeks and months of cleanup. Take photos of the photos and let them go. Same with so much memorabilia. Just take photos of those items and let them go. They just clutter up your life and create storage challenges. Just a word of advice from someone who’s gone through it.

I tune in to your videos as soon as they're published. What the rest the country doesn't see is what you're seeing and dealing with EVERY day. The media moves on and the rest of "us" forget about it. I've been as guilty as the next person for "moving on." Thank you for keeping the situation alive for so many of us who watch M/M Adventure. How nice for your parents that you are there to help them like this! That is such a blessing. I live in nearby Port Charlotte. We were home when Ian hit. Our home was hit very hard, dealing with it on a day to day basis is not easy, at first you are devastated emotionally to see how much you have lost, then you somehow just get in there and start the most difficult task of initial cleanup. Then you have to deal with insurance adjusters, contractors, etc... It has been two months since Ian. Sometimes it feels like yesterday.

Great job with the cleanup, guys! Little by little, step by step.... I know without electricity it will be difficult, but could you (and everyone else) drain the pools, to prevent mosquitos and other nasty bugs and diseases from spreading? Stagnant water is nasty, especially with so much debris and mud and such around. I hope your grandmother is feeling better, Brittany

Shuffling flood/storm water. The smell will stay with you for years. It does seem that you just shuffle it from one spot to the next and eventually the lawn will no longer smell of it. In Australia we call the people who have to do it resilient. which is wrong, it is not a quick recovery.. those that who have done it call another day and if you want to move forward so does the water shuffle. No one wants to do it and once done you will never forget it. Good luck to you all. Great footage and as usual story telling. Stay strong. It will get better.

I swannie... Everytime I'm reminded of this video, the caption's changed and/or the thumbnail's changed. I'm like, they can't be putting out three videos in two days. 😮 😂 I got it on watch later. We'll catch up with you soon with the fam, after this phase of this project and we're together. ☮️

@@Mrandmrsadventure I'm bummed about the WR in the meantime. It didn't look like a difficult fix to me from what I could see. I don't know how you're planning to handle it, guessing the semi owner's insurance pays a Yami dealer to make 'er whole? But if there's problems with that or they total it and you buy it back for salvage value, you're welcome to bring 'er by and I'll help you fix 'er up properly.

@@elgringoec We are super bummed about the WR as well. We are still in the midst of getting it all sorted. There was a lot of damage to the bike as it was pinned between the two vehicles in the accident. Keep you posted on what comes of it all. 🍀🏍💙😢

@@Mrandmrsadventure It makes me sad that you have to go through those feelings and hassle on top of the monumental loss and effort with your home at Drew's parents. It's like insult on top of injury. I just want to encourage you that the bike is restorable, if you want. We dirt bikers see all kinda mangling of our bikes, it's just par for the course. If the main engine casings and the frame aren't cracked (they looked okay in the brief clip), pegs, bars, controls, cables, forks, wheels,... They're all bolt-ons. A lot of owners upgrade these kinda things anyway. The parts can add up but there's plenty of aftermarket (like Protaper bars instead of OEM replacement, Tusk pegs, etc) to save dough over Yami parts (and better). Then there's labor, so for a tech in a shop to restore with original parts might exceed what the insurance company is obligated to pay you for the whole bike leaving you to find another bike and pay the difference, not really sure what you're getting. If that happens you can "buy the bike back" so to speak meaning the insurance company pays you their book value minus their salvage value. (People make money buying crash bikes and either fixing them up for resale or selling off the parts one by one. The engine alone might bring more money than what the insurance company is willing to pay you for the whole bike.) Then you just fix up the bike yourselves, with the parts you want, for an improved machine. Lord be with y'all.

@@elgringoec The bike has been determined to be a total loss so as a result we will get a check back for the total value of the bike plus the extras we have added onto it. We will just apply this to an entirely new bike when the time comes. Sad but monetarily it is working out. Otherwise, your advice was the option we would have went with. Many blessings back!
