Great lesson, and your slow mo enables us to see you load the left/lead leg as you transition to the downswing. Also very important I understand? Thank you
@TruGolfAcademy Жыл бұрын
Yes very important to shift early into your lead leg, most elite golfers start pressing down into their lead foot as their completing their backswing!

This is honestly the move that has saved my golf game. I'm not even kidding. Keeping the trail arm close to my side, look at the face of the club at the top, keep hands loose... bam.

Excellent demonstration and explanation Jon on the right elbow's role in the downswing! I pay attention to my right elbow making sure that it is at my side on the way down in my swing. I feel that when the flat left wrist uncocks at impact, this automatically uncocks the bent bent back right right as well. Great Job Jon! Keep up the good work!

Great video I love to feel of the swing you actually feel your right hand takeover down towards the bottom of your swing... Other thing that you can do too is a slight split your grip by separating your hands just a little bit and you'll be able to fill this on a full swing this was a game changer for me in my accuracy
@TruGolfAcademy Жыл бұрын
Yeah a split grip works great to feel the arm fold and extend, I use it a lot in coaching! Good points 👍🏻

At Impact with just your right arm is it a punch hit or are you turning the club face to the left? Thanks
@TruGolfAcademy Жыл бұрын
As the arm straightens the forearm rotates externally and wrist moves from flexion towards extension. I wouldn’t want the player to try to consciously turn the clubface. If you’re having to do this, it’s likely your face is too open in the downswing. Apologies for the delayed response!
@brodygoalie Жыл бұрын
Are you finishing the hit with face of the club going to 1 o'clock?? Thanks
@TruGolfAcademy Жыл бұрын
I’m not sure I understand, do you mean at impact the clubface points to 1pm (right of target) ?

So if you were holding a smart phone the phone would be looking straight out towards the ball on the down swing?? Please advise. Thanks
@TruGolfAcademy Жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delayed response, yes down towards the ball in the downswing and then a little ahead of the ball at impact
@TeddyCavachon Жыл бұрын
Excellent lesson on the downswing, but successful execution in the downswing starts with gripping of the club with the trail hand properly which triggers the bio-mechanical action of trail wrist maxing out in extension at the ideal point in the backswing which causes the swing force to fold the trail elbow down (vs. flying elbow seen with underhanded trail hand grips. I struggled with getting my trail hand on the grip properly for many years because I rested the club on the ground then gripped it. When I started gripping with shaft vertical and arms bent and tucked elbows down into sides I was able to comfortably get the trail hand pad up over the lead thumb and get the ideal wrist extension / elbow down bending of the trail arm in the backswing and the downswing more or less automatically.
@TakingTheNextStep Жыл бұрын
Fantastic, I will try this today. Do you have some magic for the driver or can this move be used?
@TruGolfAcademy Жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delayed response. Absolutely the day move, just with the ball more forwards the club will be moving up and trail arm will reach extension nearer impact rather than post impact. But the same feels for both 👍🏻
@perserverance333 Жыл бұрын
I recommend at least 100 trail arm drill as you're doing there, each day.

Sir, what do YOU do,when you develop a bad case of “Tennis Elbow” in your lead arm?
@dprice7771 Жыл бұрын
I have a small case of tennis elbow or what some people call my right elbow doesn't straighten out from pitching when I was younger.. so I had to change my swing just a little and all I did was keep my right forearm glued to the outer part of my right side rib cage and work on more of a turn coming through.. that way I'm not snapping my arms full extension at impact and I can still stay on my path coming through the ball.. and it will make you stand a little closer to the ball but I feel more control and accuracy that way..

@sharedchan5239 Жыл бұрын
Real talk there are many causes sometimes a chain reaction. it is wrong technique primarily, nothing to do with mats. You likely have a chicken wing yes? #1 lack of lead arm, forearm rotation (supination) through impact zone. #2 Lack of lead leg straigthening and lead side moving up and back in the downswing, causing your grip to be coming in downwards at impact instead of upwards. Because your brain knows the grip is too close to the ground for the clubhead to bottom correctly, you pull up with your lead hand and thus chicken wing. Instead pull up and way from the ground with your lead leg and lead shoulder. But you need a supinating left forearm and upper arm also. Hope that helps.
@TruGolfAcademy Жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delayed response but looks like you have plenty of advice below 👇 O don’t know enough about it, I guess more the jarring action, poor contacts and a very negative angle of attack must make it worse. I guess a Certain amount could be avoided by strengthening the forearm etc

Hi John, is it the turn of your body that squares the club face at impact .
@TruGolfAcademy Жыл бұрын
Yeah and the lead wrist moving from flexion to extension! Don’t get me wrong there is some forearm rotation but the driving force should be the body and correct wrist release.
@jeffworthington9286 Жыл бұрын
@@TruGolfAcademy Thanks for your reply John , I think for most weekend warriors don’t use there lower body that much very static hips weight remaining on there back foot etc , and me myself always have a problem in sequenceing my swing. Good stuff, that. Suggestions: Different lighting. More excitement, a bit. Create a sense of urgency on why we need to do this. Ask your wife to powder your forehead or wear a hat. Top light create glare. Move it maybe. Add indirect lighting? 😊Good so far. Keep it up.
