I have done extensive testing with all makes of golf balls and the most important factor is finding the right compression ball based on your swing speed and launch angle with the type of layers and feel you are looking for.

Here in the Philippines there is no place to buy new golf equipment or balls. Golf is gaining popularity and thanks to Amazon for shipping here now. Many players are new so high handicap and loose balls. The children who live around the course sell balls they find for about 32 cents USD. Many are nearly new and top tier balls. Today I played my round with an AVX for the first time, I was more than impressed with feel, flight and green side performance. I will use the AVX a few more rounds and if it continues to perform it will go in my bag for good. My current ball is the Bridgestone tour B XS, great ball but the AVX was equal in everything expect distance, it was a full 10 yards longer on every drive. Life is good.

Because of the brightness of the green, the green balls are really easy to see. Blue and red can be really hard in the rough. .

I feel like the green would be harder to find anywhere on the course!? But you'd say green is easier to find? Crazy. I have some orange vels that i use when it starts to get dark but if green is easier ill give them a try!

Thank you for giving a quick/detailed review of The differences, between The Titleist, V1, V1 X, etc, etc… As I just bought a box of V1, for a gift, without knowing anything but it was suppose to be excellent.

AVX is the best ball I have ever played. Extra 10 yards off the tee compared to a ProV1. Extra 5 or so yards with irons. Long iron spin is just marginally lower. For other irons/wedges the spin difference is indistinguishable. Lower, piercing ball flight, which I think is better for control and wind with approach shots and drives. Very soft feel around greens. 6 index, 105-110 mph clubhead speed. Maybe people with higher clubhead speed (115+) don't need the extra distance and want a bit more control on their long irons but going from a 5 iron to a 6 iron on a long par 4 (470+) yards is a huge difference. It lets me play courses at 7000 yards and not feel like I'm taking a long iron on every par 4.

I think the difference between Speed and Tour Soft is dramatic. One, soft, is a two piece Surlin ball vs three piece Urethane ball. They feel and play very differently…

My buddy has great results with velocity in matte green. My wife likes prov1x. My mom likes tru feel in red. My dad likes any free titleist. I have had a good run with tour speed. I tried left dash and gained some distance and increased backspin. I don’t like how pro v 1 putts.

For winter golf, slow swing speed and trouble holding greens (good line but just keeps going off the back of the green), which would be best? Price not a factor, just need as much short-game spin and stopping power as I can get.
@GolfShopOnlineАй бұрын
Max stopping power will come from the Pro V1 end. Pro V1x is their highest spinning and launching ball, which is the perfect combination for stopping power, but the difference between standard Pro V1 and Pro V1x will be very tight, so if you prefer a slightly softer ball, then Pro V1 will do a very similar job

Have you done any testing on the Left Dash Prov1X? I’ve been playing them lately and I love how they don’t spin too much and carry further than any other premium ball on the market.

AVX has been my choice for several years. I just like how it feels. Is there a cheaper ball that has similar characteristics?? I would be curious to give it a try.
@GolfShopOnline Жыл бұрын
The AVX is a very difficult one to replace as it's high greenside spin but low launch characteristics are a combination you don't tend to find in more budget balls that tend to launch higher to compensate for less spin. However, Titleist would recommend something like the Tour Speed at a slightly cheaper price point so could always be worth a try
@markcopeland2266 Жыл бұрын
trying to compare tp5x vs pro v1x left dash. I'm very curious about the reduced spin off the longer clubs to help a 100 mph club head speed guy get a few more yards. Any thoughts? Thanks!
@GolfShopOnline Жыл бұрын
Possibly, it's less about the speed as a whole and more about how that impacts the spin you deliver on the ball. Low spin is great for bombs off the tee but you still want it up in the 2000's RPM so it's not going to start falling out the sky quicker than it should 🚀

Love the overview Mark, Ive been playing prov1 for the past 2 years now and noticed significant gains in my short game, off the driver i carry about 225-230, I recently got fitted for a stealth2 plus driver and at the fitting the club fitters recommended I play a taylormade tp5 ball. They said at the time that Im losing about 20 yards carry playing a prov1 and i didnt believe them until they took out a new sleeve of prov1 and i was hiting my usual 225 carry shot, I couldn’t believe it as during the fitting with the stealth 2 i was carrying around 245-250 and just thought it was the new driver. At the end of the fitting they said Taylormade driver taylormade ball, still baffled over it. Would love to hear your opinion on this
@neiltaylor1765 Жыл бұрын
It'll be the ball type rather than proV1 play the prov1 x and you'll get the 245/250 carry, it's to do with the spin characteristics of the ball

Is there a low spin variant in the budget balls?
@GolfShopOnline Жыл бұрын
Budget balls will naturally be lower spinning and higher launching compared with most premium balls

Not very useful. I can read the adjectives on the box myself. Would be more interesting to show which golfer these are targeted at
@GolfShopOnline11 ай бұрын
They're targeted at every golfer. Regardless of skill level, you will get more out of the more premium balls, but we all lose more than we'd like to admit so it's more about finding the balance between maximising the performance without the price hurting too much if you lose a few, hence the better players are the ones that tend to go for the more premium balls ⛳
@mattemond7776 ай бұрын
I feel for 95%+ of non pro players, the make and model of the golf balls aren’t going to make or break the shot. I’ll just grab whatever ball I can find make sure it doesn’t have any dirt or cracks in it and call it a day. If I’m disappointed in a lay it’s not the balls fault
@GolfShopOnline6 ай бұрын
What brand/model you play doesn't matter, almost every brand will have a ball that fits a budget/feel/spin you like, but staying consistent with one will definitely have it's benefits for any golfer. Hitting a Pro V1 next to a Srixon AD333, for example, the AD333 is a fantastic ball, especially for the value, but it will launch much higher, which will change the carry and stopping distance. It's definitely not a case of "you must play the best, most expensive ball" but finding a ball at a budget you're happy to stay consistent with can really help.
