In case this might help someone out there: I had "back spasms" intermittently for over two years -- turns out it was my gallbladder! Back pain was my only symptom for years, right up until the pain was nearly constant. Normally gallstones cause other symptoms, but keep your gallbladder in mind as a possibility if you have back pain that doesn't resolve with PT/stretching/etc.

May I ask what was the treatment? Did you have to have them removed? And is it all good now since or have you had recurring issues?
@cassandrabriggs9133
@cassandrabriggs9133 Жыл бұрын
@@richardmckowen8850 I had my gallbladder removed. It's a minor outpatient operation that completely solved the problem. It's been several years since the surgery and there has been no recurrence of pain. Having the duct from the gallbladder blocked by stone(s) causes episodes of intense pain that frequently refers to the back (although normally people do also have abdominal pain and other symptoms, I was unusual in having back pain as my only symptom). The "attacks" of pain subside when the stone falls back into the gallbladder, which is why the pain can come and go unpredictably.

Big fan of B&B. Only had a spasm once but it was BAD! Felt like I was struck by lightening. I finally got it to calm down with face-down fetal position. That very day I began working on strengthening my core and I haven't had one since and that was at least 10 years ago.

My TENS unit works quickly and efficiently. I cycle through different pulses as each one ends its twenty minutes. I’ll definitely try your methods. When I was working, I would push my back against a vertical flat surface and bend my knees during a spasm.

I figured out most of my back spasms were caused by getting overheated when doing strenuous work and drinking cold fluids! Since then I drink water at room temperature or something else hot like tea or coffee. More recently I felt a spasm coming on and applied heat from an infrared heater then got on the floor and used my foam roll. Spasm eliminated. Your mileage may vary. What do you think Bob & Brad? Thanks for your videos.

Oh heck! When I get back spasms (Oe anywhere else) they are so painful. Worse than the worst charley horse you van imagine, and usually, like labour pains come and go. Unlike labour pains they only last an hour or an hour and a half! I’ve been given diazepam to help and keep it close. At night it’s on my night stand. The pain is SO bad that I cannot reach for them, hubby has to get them! No way could I find somewhere to lie down and do these exercises if I’d been in a chair! Thanks for trying guys! 🙏 Keep safe! 😷❣️😷

We've found two things that seem to help; making sure we take in enough salt each day and stretching our backs by bending over, touching our toes and just letting our bodies hang for a bit; really seems to be the trick!!

I have a rare connective tissue disorder and just had a laminectomy and tethered cord release. The back spasms are horrendous. The only thing that helps is lying on my side and taking Flexeril since it is still too painful for me to be on my back. Once I am healed more I think laying on my back will be more helpful! Good video for anyone with back spasms regardless of the cause. Thank you for sharing Bob and Brad!

I’ve been getting random back spasms around my lats that wrap around my back and arm and got a cardiac work up but everything looks good. My doctor only prescribed muscle relaxers but I’d really like to fix whatever is going on. It’s so frustrating and while the cramps are lasting maybe a minute or two at most, it’s scary not knowing what is causing them and how to prevent them.

Ibuprofen does wonders too Current lying on my back, got back spasms a few minutes ago just from stepping out of the shower...it's always some minor activity when I get them. These alternate leg lifts are working great at the moment, as I wait for ibuprofen to kick in. ...wonder if I can reach the tv remote....

Susan Smith - Susan, you might want to ask your doctor about ‘Gabapentin’ - also known as ‘Neurontin’ for your nerve pain. Personally, I find I prefer a heating pad for tight muscles and the pelvic tilt like the guys are demonstrating. For inflammation, I use a cold pack but be careful it isn’t too cold against the skin.

@elaineculbert8594
@elaineculbert8594 4 жыл бұрын
@Hiranya - they mention trying both - you will know which feels best. If my back is tight and spasming, I always reach for my heating pad as it feels better but some people prefer a cold pack. The choice is yours - but I also will do some gentle pelvic tucks like they are demonstrating.
