Last week I went to see THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW on Tour, a show I've loved revisiting multiple times over the last decade!
Seeing the show live on stage is a unique theatrical experience and so in today's new video I'm clueing you in on everything you need to know before you see it yourself including dressing up, bringing props and learning how to time warp!

I saw RH at southampton my 2nd time seeing it live. When Brad and Frank were in the bed and Riff Raff gets in to let Frank know Rocky escaped I shouted "threesome!" Everyone inc the cast laughed i never had confidence to heckle before.

Many years ago I went to see the RHS in Nottingham - having gone full F&F, I donned makeup, wig, 4" heels etc, we set off in a city I didn't know to find the theatre. Finding what we thought was the correct theatre we walked in, head up - only to be told we were in the wrong theatre that was showing some opera that evening and our place was next door!!!

There was a double LP, snappily titled 'Say It! The Rocky Horror Picture Show Audience Par-tic-i-pation Album', which was released waaay back in 1983: I learnt all the lines from that. It was recorded at the legendary 8th Street Playhouse. It's been re-released a couple of times on CD to tie in with the various anniversaries, so shouldn't be hard to track down. A must for any die-hard Rocky fan, and most of the lines have remained the same. One of the copies I have even came with its own confetti!

There’s a burlesque troupe in my town that has been doing this for years. They give you a cheat sheet with the heckles written down and a list of props. It’s great for virgins.

@@MickeyJoTheatre In the US, they are so many different lines in different regional theaters in the country. My two favorite audience lines, and i’m very curious if you’ve heard them in the UK, are: 1) the Criminologist (Narrator) in one of his speeches (before the rain) talks about “storm clouds” (big pause) “heavy, black and pendulous”. Into that big pause, one person shouted “Describe your balls!” And of course the screen (or actor, if live) ‘answered’ “heavy, black and pendulous”. 2) right before Frank is ‘introduced’ to Janet, someone in a UK schoolmaster voice, yells out “Frank, spell urine” and Frank goes to Janet, “You are...?” and the audience guy finishes “i.. n.. e. very good!”

I first saw Rocky Horror at the Regent in Ipswich in 2007 and had no idea what to expect, but absolutely loved it and there was a point where I would watch the film every weekend multiple times! I saw it again in 2013 at the Marlowe in Canterbury ("And you will receive it in-" "What do you call a disco in a bakery?" "...Abundance." Best audience ad-lib!) and in 2015 at the Playhouse in London with Richard O'Brien as the narrator!! You looked great in all of your costumes, though I have to agree with the Franks- you were over-dressed for Rocky =P

Re the toilet roll. I think there's a brand of loo roll in US called Scott. As in Great Scott! (Dr Scott)

Love your channel. Your reviews are so cool and your enthusiasm for the stage is infectious. Like your ingenuity with the costume, but I am actually from the less is more view for Rocky. You would have looked hot in just the tiny gold shorts - but I get the issue with going to a theater that way. Cheers!

Hey! This is an amazing video and I am a young fan and been to it on tour twice, but also the Movie in the Munich Theatre (where it's been showing every Saturday since the 70s!). I'm surprised that you didn't mention the Movie since a lot of the callouts originate from the semi-interactive RHPS cinema viewing experience which is a blast in its own way. If you did this video again, please do mention that since that is where this whole culture began!! It's an amazing show and I can't want to continue the traditions with it :)))

when i went they had a little goodie bag they sold to people with all the props and callouts like confetti, newspaper, glowsticks, condom balloons was really fun when brad stepped on one and popped it then gave a really mischievious smirk to the audience

Also- I ASMed a panto of Sleeping Beauty a few years back and the had The Time Warp in that- the dance moves for "knees in tight" were done early/three times and it confused me so much when I went back to doing it the normal way!

Prepping for 7 days from now. Bringing the wife, my daughter and my son-in-law, who when I asked if he knew Rocky Horror, he stated that he knew Rocky Balboa. (This will be a culture shock for him.) Form a small extra fee, we are receiving "fun packs" which seem to be fairly extensive. No shopping necessary.

I love the film and when I saw the stage show I walked away a little uncomfortable, it's hard to explain but there was this subtle uneasiness in Franks performance that I just found distasteful. It was sort of "look at me a guy touching a guy isn't that silly". Anyway it was Craig McLachlan, not sure if that name means anything to anyone but let's just say there is controversy to his performances. I'd love to see it again with a different stage actor.
