A 16 Yr old TWOC'd a car smashed into me wrote off my car , he ran off , somehow he was caught days later then ignored all my solicitors letters , I even went to his house disguised as a contractor with painting and decorating gear , that fooled him into finally opening the door he just laughed in my face when I asked him to reply to the legal letter, fast forward I got a very small amount from the MIB for my car and forgot all about it , then yrs later I received a cheque in the post I forget who from but a letter stated they'd caught up with the individual and somehow got some more money for me , not much but something

@@BibtheBoulder that’s crazy. The police and the Law here are way too soft. They are pretty much on the side of the people committing the crime. It’s like you really have to do your best to keep out of trouble despite being a regular person carrying on with their life. An uninsured driver crashed into your car without little consequences and completely ruin your life and there is nothing you can do about it, otherwise you get into troubles. What’s that all about?

From my experience it matters not if you are hit by an insured driver even if your car is parked and empty. Your insurance company will make money robbing you in the process. Insurance companies are thieves.

This exact thing has happened to me! My car got scrapped by a council truck whilst having my haircut so no one was in the car yet I've been hit by roughly a 20% increase in my insurance this year!! Ridiculous

Insurance is a scam. They are promising to cover up something in the case of something, aka taking the risk. But they aren't taking any risks. That is the catch. They have statistics and records and know exactly their risk is minimal, and they are actually defrauding the customers that believe in the risk lies they are told. To be a fair transaction, the insurance company should refund lets say 90% of the paid sum to the river at the end of each year if they haven't caused any accidents. The 10% is to cover for the various filing operations, and even so with 10%, is sufficiently overbudgeted for all these office practices, and employees, etc. I pay you a risk fee. If i have a spotless license, with no crashes, clearly your risk with me is non existing and i should be entitled for my money back at the end of each year.

my car was hit by an uninsured driver when it was at a supermarket. the driver took off and I came back to see the damage. We traced the car via the cctv and my dashcam. it cost my insurance £2.5k to fix, it lmpacted my no claims and my insurance doubled on the next renewal. I was essentially penalised for something that happened and i wasn't even in the car at the time either.

Another problem is those who run off. I was rear ended in stationery traffic a few years back, and the police (TVP) were totally uninterested, just a phone line to report it which clearly was going nowhere. I could sympathise on a back road, but this was the multi-lane part of the M4 outside Heathrow near the M25 intersection, which is covered with traffic cameras. I spoke to my Insurance Broker about this (obviously) and he told me it had reached epidemic levels, unsurprisingly if the Police do nothing.

The fine seems to be better than they used to be. I recall reading in the local paper a few years ago seeing no insurance/license fines of £30/£50 etc which were a joke!

I've been a driving instructor for over a decade now. I regularly get pupils tell me that they have been driving without a licence and/or without correct insurance for years, in some cases I'm guessing they are still driving illegally between lessons. 😒

There are so many people driving illegally. I was hit by someone who didn't have insurance. The worst part is he drove off but was found a week later. To add icing to the cake, I had to have rotator cuff surgery. Now I can't work for a few months. I have plenty of sick days at my main job, but my second job I had to take a leave of absence, no pay! The vehicle is totaled out, I'm in excruciating pain from the surgery, and I'm missing money. This who deal has been a logistical nightmare. 😢

Happened to me in 2000, I was stationary in traffic, he rammed into me and drove off. I rather stupidly drove after him and watched a further 3 accidents. As I sat in the back of the police car, which arrived pretty quickly, the dispatcher read out his previous convictions, which included violence to his partner and police. Turns out he had just escaped from a mental hospital, stole the car but was eventually caught. Never heard a word from the police, my insurance I guess paid for my car and my premium went up. Pretty gutted as it was my first new car, a lovely red Golf and the repair by VW was appalling.

Please could you give a breakdown on the legalities of fox hunting i.e. hunting trails and flushing etc. Like at what point do fox hunting groups break the law and how easy is it for these groups to be prosecuted. This is why I always have Fully Comprehensive Protected No Claims Bonus, I insured my Vauxhall Zafira 1.6 petrol 112bhp. Fully Comprehensive, with a £3000 claim within 5years. I had 10yrs protected NC Bonus. Insurance cost £26 per month. 😊

MIB could probably get a court judgment against an uninsured driver, but enforcing that is another matter. The civil courts are only effective against law-abiding people. If people ignore a judgment against them, and they have no provable assets to seize, there is very little that can be done to force them to pay.

That’s shocking. Apparently you have to pay for an uninsured driver if it’s their fault. That’s a joke. So, they put people’s lives at risk without any consequences. Unbelievable and very unfair. The most ridiculous thing is that you cannot even check if a vehicle is insured due to data protection. Well done. I was reading that there were more than 40,000 people caught without insurance. Based on the 50,000,000 people with driving licence reported, for every 1000 people with a licence there is one without a licence, but surely that number is way higher.

The MIB require a likelihood of recovery through the courts. Twice I have been turned down by them. Once when the car was hit by another vehicle whilst parked. The nature of the damage and debris left from the other vehicle made it clear I was struck by a vehicle but as I had no details of the vehicle they declined to pay or help. Luckily I had comprehensive insurance which covered it though I lost my NCD. On another occasion I was side swiped by a lorry which did not stop but I got the registration and company name on the trailer however on going to the police I was told it was on false plates. On contacting the company name on the trailer I was told they used a number of hauliers pulling their branded trailers so nobody could be traced so the MIB declined to help. As an aside, I was told by the police that on this second case that it is not uncommon to put a rogue plate on a trailer but correct on the tractor unit as it keeps down insurance as anyone hit will get a wrong plate. Should the police stop them the worst they can get is a ticking off or small fine for having a wrong plate. Regrettably this is becoming more common on trade plates which are often placed in the rear window of a car being delivered etc. if the driver has an accident, breaks the speed limit etc. cameras catch the normal vehicle plate not the trade plate.

The insurance laws in Sweden are sensible in my opinion from what i know. I believe the car rather than driver is insured though in not 100% on this but the sensible bit is that the car is always insured. You either insure it at the price you negotiate or the gov inside it at an inflated rate, either way it's insured and the vehicle owner is traceable and responsible.

Got hit by a another car from behind when I stopped in traffic, I heard his tyres screeching for a couple of seconds first. I got suspicious when he tried to say it's only a bit of paint i'll sort that out for yer, he wrote his name and contact details down but not the registration. Luckily I had done a short video which captured his registration, and a quick look on DVLA's site showed no tax on vehicle which would as far as I know also mean void insurance if he had any to start with. I reported the collision to the police. Don't know where it will go from there, will the police notify me when they catch up to him so I can claim damages? Having my car looked at, the damage is around £2k so not just a bit of paint. The other drivers address was around 30 miles away so I let the police know he is untaxed and driving a now unroadworthy vehicle on the public roads, hope they caught up with him.

Driving without insurance least in US is more then just double edge sword. If you get in ANY crash even if someone runs a red light and tbones you. If you have no insurance YOU are at fault even being one getting tboned cause your car shouldn't been on the road logic. insurance company will take you to court to make sure you pay for car that hit you. Even if you drive perfectly you pretty much gotta talk/buy your way outta any crash with other driver so they don't talk to pd or insurance.

Most people have Comprehensive cover these days, so my advice would be claim on your own policy and leave the insurer to pursue a recovery from MIB. A number of insurers now include an "uninsured driver promise", so your NCD isn't affected and they may also waive the excess.

There is some suggestion, relating to the Act of Union 1700 I believe, that laws Signed by King Charles before the Coronation are unenforceable because he was not crowned King until the Coronation. Specifically the Public Order Act passed days before the Coronation. Is there any truth to this? Thank you.

It can and still does. The driver would have had their car impounded and would have had to show their license and insurance in order for it to be collected. Failure to do so within 14 days would result in the car being crushed

@@neogrid9999 The police couldn't have ignored it. It is a motoring offence to undertake cars on the road and is considered dangerous. However, you can undertake in some circumstances, for example, if your lane is moving quicker than the other lanes on a congested road. The video doesn't break down what they were fined for? They were deliberately undertaking, which may be the points on his ghost license and £1958 for driving without insurance/license and court costs. A very lenient punishment should have had their car crushed and banned from driving.

The hard shoulder also doubles as an emergency lane, allowing emergency vehicles to bypass traffic and get to the scene of an accident. In most circumstances, driving on the hard shoulder is illegal and will see you penalised by the police. There are exceptions, for example, if you are directed to by the police or motorway traffic officers. As I said in my comments they were using the hard shoulder illegally, as well as having no insurance or driving license.

For every cyclists on the road, there are 3 uninsured motorists. But the conversation is always about the former not being insured. After a bit of investigation I found out over 90% of cyclists already have insurance of some kind. Personal liability, or fully comprehensive. When I had a car pull out on me a wreck my frame their insurer didn't even even dispute it in anyway. They let me take it to my local bike shop and let them spec up the costs. They replaced everything, and I was allowed to keep the semi-scratched parts that were still in working order to use on another bike. Whilst there are so many organisation that give you free insurance to cover others, it's worth having fully comp if you are a regular user or have an expensive bicycle. My fully comp is about £500 on one of my bikes.

'For every cyclist on the road...' What about the ones on the pavement along with scooters? Are the youth not required to pass a drug test to ride the council ones? Some of us drivers have to jump through hoops to gain our licences for motorised vehicles. Why can the main culprits of doobie users in society get given automatic rights to such without question? If some of the liberal leaders had their way they'd want them riding cycles and smoking the reefer just to keep the car numbers down.

Could you cover the Geeksvana coverage of the Micro Drone 4.0 issue? Maybe what the potential legal options the backers of the product have and potential legal issues the creator of the indiegogo campaign may have? This request comes totally from one side of the story, but it seem to be somewhat credible.
