My friend was chaperone for her HS son's trip to the theater to see a Christmas Carol. When he came out of room dressed for school, yeah and a pair of jeans with holes in the knees and a T-shirt. She told him to change because what he was wearing was not appropriate attire for the theater. I got suckered to be President of the PTA in my first meeting. I said “No, too much going on and I’m pregnant”. They said it would be fine, I could be exchanged in mid-term. Liars! I tried to drop out, didn’t go to meetings, handed over all the documents to my replacement. Got a phone call whilst in labour. They wanted to know if I was still singing the National Anthem at the School Fete the next day! I didn’t even know I was supposed to be doing that! Apparently it was agreed to when I wasn’t present, unanimously! I explained I wouldn’t be free, other commitments ….. suggested they simply use the brass band to do the job (primary school cacophony), hung up and cursed the whole damned thing! I was ever so happy, holding my new born,all sticky still, when my husband reported “It’s been rained out!” Karma came for the PTA! Amen!
